Did you know when your waters were about to break?

Just that really.

Had my water broken with DS at 38 weeks.

Pregnant with twins and currently 28 weeks. Just lately I have a really heavy feeling down there and some pulsing sensations. I know this can be normal but sometimes I feel a little pop then back to normal. I'm probably over thinking it as I know twins you have a higher chance of pre term labour.

I see my consultant on Tuesday so will mention this to her then.

Did anyone actually know or feel they were about to break?

Only sign i had before they broke was a bloody show a few hours previous. Best of luck! Flowers

Unfortunately that's the sign I had for my 31+6 deliver with DS. I felt a weird pressure down below, joked about my vagina falling out soon. Then weird little pops. Later that night my waters broke all over a restaurant floor and he was out healthy 4h later.

No. False alarm with 1 - wasn’t my waters I just pissed myself in markies car park, they went for real in my sleep and woke up in a puddle. 2 - I bent down to take washing out the machine and felt it trickle then when I started walking to get rid of the clean washing it just gushed out like a burst water balloon. 3 they were broken for me. Caught covid at 36 weeks and ended up hospitalised with it and a GA section

It varies so much doesn't it. I'm hoping they won't go and they stayed tucked up for a little while longer!

The pulsing has started again 😓.

FWIW my lead twin is breech at the moment but not sure if that makes a difference

Nope no warning at all, just out walking the dog 3 weeks until due date.

This is what worries me. If they did break I'd hope for it to be at home 🫣.

My mucous plug came out when I sneezed - I thought I had wet myself but when I went to the loo I discovered otherwise 😆 I was 40+3 at the time, waters started trickling out a short time later.

Gooseysgirl · 09/10/2022 00:27

No such thing as overthinking it! Give the hospital a call if you are feeling uneasy.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 09/10/2022 00:39

Yes. I had a really weird sensation and felt like I was about to burst so I hobbled as fast as I could down the ward to the toilets. As soon as I sat down there was a loud pop and it gushed out.
I felt quite smug that I managed not to get soaked, called at the nurses station to notify them. They eye rolled and clearly didn't believe me. As soon as I sat on the bed there was another pop and this time it was horrendous. I didn't know there were also hindwaters. My pjs inflated and the amount of fluid was unbelievable.

Loulou1712 · 09/10/2022 07:15

DD1 I felt pressure like I needed to fluff, so I shifted my weight a bit and then felt a pop and a trickle.
DD2 waters exploded during the height of a contractions about 5 mins before she was delivered

GreenIsle · 09/10/2022 07:31

My waters broke naturally withmy ds. I had some mild cramping which I knew to be the start of labour and was the same with my dd however this time I felt a noticeable pop and my waters exploded (only way to describe it). No other sign this was to happen.

TokyoSushi · 09/10/2022 07:37

I did get notice, but only about 20 seconds. I woke in the night with an absolutely massive period type pain, stood up and boom!

BoudiccaVibes · 09/10/2022 08:18

No, none at all. They went spontaneously as I'd stepped in to the bathroom (luckily!) with my first. During labour with my subsequent children, quite late on actually.

LT2 · 09/10/2022 08:19

No, no idea until I felt the sudden gush when I was in a public place!

NancyJoan · 09/10/2022 08:22

With DD, I’d been having contractions for ten hours, which was something of a clue, then with one whacking great contraction they went in a rush.
With DS, I woke at 4am in a puddle, no clue it was going to happen.

RegeJeanPageMeOnMyCellphone · 09/10/2022 09:42

No warning.

DH got out of bed and told me to have a lie in as I’d been up early all week. I rolled over to get comfy and felt a pop followed by more fluid than I had anticipated.

Although I did buy a waterproof mattress topper as I was convinced it would happen while I was in bed!

Chanel05 · 09/10/2022 09:44

I had already been having contractions for 11 hours and my plug came out 3 hours before my waters broke. My only sign was the telltale 'pop' I felt a second before and I knew what that meant.

Fraaahnces · 09/10/2022 09:49

My waters never broke. (That I was aware of, anyway.) I definitely found the mucosal plug though. (Bleh!) When you have two babies putting pressure on your cervix, it is far more common to have what is known as an “irritable uterus”. I had this from roughly the same time and had a C-section at 39 wks.

Fraaahnces · 09/10/2022 09:49

Didn’t explain that I had twins too. Sorry.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 09/10/2022 09:51

I was really anxious about waters going in public! As it happens they were broken for me with DC1 and didn't break until second push with DC2.

AmberGer · 09/10/2022 09:53

No x2

Morph22010 · 09/10/2022 09:54

I woke up and felt like I needed the loo

girlgonenorth · 09/10/2022 10:28

I had no sign, with DD they broke all over the bathroom floor, literally wading through it! Then I had twins, they broke in more of a trickle one evening at 35 weeks, second twins broke as he was crowning. But twins is a lot of pressure, I had Braxton hicks type contractions so bad I had to breathe through them every evening for weeks before the birth

girlgonenorth · 09/10/2022 10:33

for both of my pregnancies waters breaking was the first sign of labour but I read that only happens in something like 20% of pregnancies
