39+6 weeks reduced movement

Hi all, trying not to panic but essentially from 16 weeks, baby has been an absolute kickboxer. Shocking midwives and sonographers at all appointments by just how active she is. Overall healthy pregnancy, minor concerns that she's small but nothing major.

She has a pretty set routine, by the time I've got out of bed in the morning and sat down on the sofa with my morning cuppa she's going mental with me, even at 39 weeks with limited room she doesn't care she'll kick me until I'm sore 😂

Well this morning, I've only had the tiniest little flutter, I've tried moving about, having some sugar and drinking plenty which doesn't seem to have had an effect. Been having contractions on and off for the past few days which haven't progressed into anything.

Just wondering how long I need to wait before ringing assessment clinic, as it's not like she hasn't moved at all, it's just the complete opposite to normal but don't wanna make the trip for no reason as it means sorting childcare out etc 😓

Any advice would be great 🥰

If you are concerned don't leave it and ring up now. They will advise you better.

Even if it's just to put your mind at rest x

tocas · 16/07/2022 08:48

Hi OP I would ring now

FindingANewLifePlan · 16/07/2022 08:50

Ring now Smile any changes in movement need to be checked, don't wait.

cavebaby · 16/07/2022 08:50

It's not just no movements that is concerning, it's any change to normal movements. Phone up now x

Seasidesusy · 16/07/2022 08:51

Don’t hesitate. Ring now and get seen. I had reduced movements several times from 36 ish weeks. At 38+1 they scanned me to find the fluid had reduced and they suspected my placenta wasn’t working as well as it ought to. I was induced and baby was born healthy and safe but testing after birth showed that the placenta had stopped working. If I had ignored the reduced movements, it could have been a different outcome. Most likely everything is fine but get checked out.

TotalRhubarb · 16/07/2022 08:55

Now. You ring right now without delay.

Diddlydeep · 16/07/2022 08:58

Ring and go get checked.

I don’t want to panic you but mine was like a kick boxer too. be Prepared to shout to get heard if needed though, you know your baby’s movements better than others. Mine was like that at 38ish weeks, and they kept on saying but she’s moving (she was a little, esp when they kept on giving me loads of sugar on the monitor). I argued that it was reduced movements that they kept on saying mums should look for. After pushing I saw a consultant, she was delivered and had passed meconium.

usually it’s fine, there is a lot less room at the end, but you know better than anyone if there has been a change.

endofthelinefinally · 16/07/2022 08:58

Absolutely ring now. Go in, do not be fobbed off.

ShirleyPhallus · 16/07/2022 09:02

Yep, call now

Snowflakes1122 · 16/07/2022 09:04

You don’t wait for reduced movement, ever. As soon as you notice, get it checked.

My last baby was induced for reduced movements.

Albgo · 16/07/2022 09:06

Ring immediately.
My baby's movements changed - he was still moving it just felt different to me - and it was how my pre eclampsia was diagnosed.

Buttons0522 · 16/07/2022 09:07

Don’t wait. Go now! They would much rather see you and all be ok than the unthinkable alternative

Blizy · 16/07/2022 09:10

Please don't wait, I hope you've called already.

Felixsmama · 16/07/2022 09:13

Go get checked right now ASAP just to be safe. I did find my DD in the days leading up to birth didnt move as much.

Lillygolightly · 16/07/2022 09:15

Always always go and get checked, don’t wait just go.

mydogsteppedonabee · 16/07/2022 09:17

Another voice adding to the go now camp! You'll likely be fine but midwives will always tell you to get checked if in doubt

caz198917 · 16/07/2022 09:21

Now

Overthebow · 16/07/2022 09:23

Go now!

Kittycaz · 16/07/2022 09:32

Go, I went with reduced movements rang first they told me stay at home. I'm glad I listened to my gut and not them turns out I was 8cm dilated and ready to go. Baby born healthy 3 hours later. I was contracting for days before hand too. Good luck OP

bumbledeedum · 16/07/2022 09:34

How is anyone still asking this? Any change of movement needs checking out and if you're ever unsure ring the professionals.

cottagegardenflower · 16/07/2022 09:44

Ring immediately and don't be fobbed off.

Flederjo · 16/07/2022 09:54

At this late stage I would definitely go in and get checked, OP! I hope you're already on the phone to them or on the way!!

Brunonononooo · 16/07/2022 09:56

I would call right now

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 16/07/2022 09:59

Ring now OP, it's always best to get reduced movements checked out.
I had to go in twice and was scared they would be annoyed but was reassured they would rather see 100 people who didn't need to be there than miss 1 who did.

Bethrose9716 · 16/07/2022 13:13

Hi all, at the assessment centre now, they say all seems good and she started kicking a bit when they put bands on. Being offered an induction regardless tho x
