George is DH's long favourite and the safe choice. I was keen on Elliott for a while but DH objected to it for so long, so now not very sure. The other two we came up only recently- but again can't be sure..Only one week to go till birth now..so should decide fairly soon!

Personally I wouldn't choose either Cosmo or Emil. Prefer either Elliot or George. Wouldn't choose any of those names for a ds of my own though. So I'm a BIG help, sorry.

Aitch · 10/01/2008 13:56

lol at sandy, the Big Help.

MuffinMclay · 10/01/2008 14:08

Love George, don't mind Emil, don't like Elliot or Cosmo.

Boogalooblue · 10/01/2008 14:31

Pixel, don't apologise, I don't care what anyone else thinks, it is his name, he is Cosmo and he is gorgeous .

Ozz · 10/01/2008 15:44

thanks a lot girls. Still undecided though. George is a classic I know, but somehow can't imagine a little boy called George. What would be his pet name? Cosmo is a bit off the wall, but can't help it, I can picture a little sweet boy called Cosmo in my head..All my girlfriends love Elliott, but DH and his friends seem to think it is not manly enough! Emil is my sister's favourite.

Why don't you wait until you meet the little fella? I had several names lined up for my ds, none of which suited so he was called something totally different (his name sort of popped into my head as I was gazing at him)...you have up to six weeks to come to a decision before you register the birth as well.

Spillage21 · 10/01/2008 16:00

Boys called George usually have 'Gorgeous' as nickname (thanks to their Mums)...

clam · 10/01/2008 16:05

In DD's class, there are 4 Georges and 2 Georgias. Just be aware that if you choose it, and it is a classic, I know, he will spend his whole school career being George B, or C or whatever your surname initial is.

Twiglett · 10/01/2008 16:07

only like George

Ozz · 10/01/2008 16:11

hmm a very valid point clam..

I like George, I also like Elliott but didn't use it because I fancied someone whose surname was it when I was pregnant... Who was also the friend of the father of the baby (this gets worse doesn't it)whom I was NOT actually with, if that helps at all

I think I'll just shut up now

Ledodgy · 10/01/2008 16:14

George - I used to love until George Bush
Elliot - nice name but reminds me of ET
Emil - I think I like it.
Cosmo - I had a cat named Cosmo reminds me of Cosmo and Dibbs off You and Me a children's program from years ago. I do like it though I think that guy from Blur you know the one that cooks now has a son called Cosmo and he's cool.

Elliot is a nice name. I love Cosmo but only because it is the name of my lovely dog and therefore can't ever imagine it for a child - sorry!

Cosmo I really like but is v Mary Wesley and needs a v posh accent to carry it off! Love Emil but agree, a tad pretentious if not French. Elliot/tt common now, George okay but reminds me of an older person, not a baby.

kiskidee · 10/01/2008 19:23

isn't Cosmo an abbreviation of a women's mag? (probably already asked along with) or did OP mean Cosimo.

Is it Cosima or Cosmia (like the flower) or am I being thick and they are two separate names? Isn't Nigella's daughter called Cosmia?

kiskidee · 10/01/2008 19:30

Cosimo and Cosima are M and F forms of the same name in Italian

kiskidee · 10/01/2008 19:32

as in: Cosimo di Giovanni de' Medici (September 27, 1389 ? August 1, 1464), the first of the Medici political dynasty

Hulababy · 10/01/2008 19:34

I like George best out of the 4 choices.
