17 weeks anterior placenta

Hello everyone. Has anyone experienced anterior placenta before... I'm 17 weeks can't really feel much movements. It's freaking me out!! I went for a reassurance scan when I was 15 and a half weeks so that claimed my nerves. They told me may take longer for me to feel and that stretched muscles walls etc from previous pregnancies may mean a delay in feeling ..... but I am super anxious. I had a missed miscarriage before although it was 5 weeks on. Anyone share their own experiences xx

I also have an anterior placenta. It just means that you might not feel much movement until a little later. Nothing else!
I actually started to feel tiny movements at about 18.5 weeks and now my placenta has moved up and to the side a bit.

No need to freak out Grin

Cakecakecheese · 19/04/2022 10:04

I'm 23 weeks and don't really feel anything. It's a bit sad when I read about people getting kicks and things but my baby is fine so I just have to be patient.

coffeebabes · 19/04/2022 10:11

I have one too, I had one with my previous pregnancy too, it's rubbish. I'm similar to you and can't feel anything yet x

MrsWidgerysLodger · 19/04/2022 10:21

I had an anterior placenta with DD. Don't think I felt her move until around 22/23 weeks and it was maddening as my SIL was pregnant at the same time with the most active baby known to humankind. She soon made up for it when we could feel her though. DH had his head on my bump listening to her swooshing about in there and she kicked him in the ear with alarming accuracy!

I know it's really hard but try not to feel too anxious, you will feel them eventually!

Hi ladies. Thank you so much for sharing stories. I really appreciate it xx

Me too. Barely felt anything until around 24 weeks, and only felt movements when he was very low down until around 30 weeks.

Now 33+5 and getting kicked regularly!

I found it quite upsetting and worrying after 3 MCs to feel so little but my scans were fine & midwife was happy with heart rate etc so had to try and trust that everything was OK.

Me too! In-laws would constantly ask if I was feeling lots of movements, then tell me how activate SILs baby is when I explained that I wasn't 🙈

I'm glad it's all going well. I to have had miscarriages in the past never this far along though. But it does really unsettle ur mind. It's such a awful thing really. It can really rob you of peace of mind with. We pregnancies. I've had 4 scans so far and all been perfect thank god. I have one booked for Friday gender scan. So trying to remain calm as I know I will be so anxious going in x.

I was thinking it might be a boy. This was my scan just over a week ago. But I don't know the sex for sure. I'm just hoping and guessing lol.

Anterior placenta here. 28 weeks. Been feeling movement since 20 or so weeks. Very strong compared to previous pregnancy. Feel a bubble sensation too which is more like baby slowly moving around and stretching rather than kicks.

Kittycaz · 19/04/2022 11:18

I'm 38 weeks with an anterior placenta and trust me it's not unusual to not feel LO at your stage I don't think I felt mine properly til 21 weeks. But now I feel him all the time at the moment he's trying to break free from my womb 😂
congratulations op. X

Shiteshow100 · 19/04/2022 11:19

Yes I do. I'm 32 wks with my 5th baby. It was weird as the rest I felt much earlier. I didn't feel constant movements until around 24 weeks. I got myself a Doppler to curb the anxiety.

Yes I have an anterior placenta! I've only been feeling regular movement from about 19 weeks. A few random kicks before that but maybe a week between them so not often at all!

I've my anomaly scan next week at 21 weeks so I'll see for sure where the placenta is. It was just a quick scan the consultant did at 17 weeks that showed it was anterior. I had a posterior one first time round and felt regular movement from 14 weeks so this is definitely later!

strawberrysummer19 · 19/04/2022 16:05

Me! I have AP currently 26wks and feeling more movement but only around 21wks onwards
Was getting little bits but obvious ones were much later

Even yesterday I posted about baby having a quiet day so I went in for monitoring so don't worry if like me you think you are suddenly going to get really strong ones all of a sudden
I have had days where I have just not consistent

I had a growth scan at 25 weeks last week baby was wriggly and moving in scan and I couldn't feel them! X

I'm nearly twenty two weeks with an anterior placenta and terrible anxiety (first and probably only baby.) I thought I felt something for the past two weeks but now I'm visiting my elderly parents in rural France and can't feel anything. It's so scary. I have an appointment with fetal medicine on Tuesday, just after we get back, so clinging to that. I'd love to see a midwife here but my mother would need to organise it with their practice and they have so much going on at the moment.

Op, Def looks boy to me.

Ruibies · 19/04/2022 16:25

Anterior placenta here too, first baby so had no idea what to expect. Only started feeling movement at 20w, and thats because I saw baby move on the scan at the same time as feeling a faint bubble inside.

37w now and probably from about 25/26w I would say the movements were very strong, and baby literally does not stop moving. It's getting painful now so I can't wait for it to arrive and not have my stomach constantly churning lol.

@Ruibies Oh it's your first. Yes it can be quite scary. Can't you call the local EPU and ask them to give you scan before you travel if you explain you will be travelling. X

Hey! Both my pregnancies i had anterior placentas and i didnt feel much id say to 20 plus weeks (just little flutters and kicks) i know a few girls who have had that and felt the same - any time though you need reassurance just go and get them to check, they would rather you do that :) once baby is filling up more space you will feel it more! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hope all goes well xoDaffodil
