Personally I still needed the bigger trousers.

MerlinsBeard · 08/01/2008 11:08

Whatever you are in now size-wise is what i would take with you to come home in.

pud1 · 08/01/2008 11:09

Hulababy · 08/01/2008 11:10

Something baggy and comfortable. I took my pregnancy stuff.

beansprout · 08/01/2008 11:11

Someone told me that I would still look 5m preg post birth, and they were right!!

IdrisTheDragon · 08/01/2008 11:11

Pregnancy clothes. Sorry .

nailpolish · 08/01/2008 11:13

pud1

you will have to restrain yourself as you get asked for the nth time when your baby is due.

whilst pushing your 3 mnth old on her pram.

pud1 · 08/01/2008 11:14

Or your mum will turn up a few days after the birth and ask if you have another one in there

flowerybeanbag · 08/01/2008 11:18

Whatever fitted you at 5mths pg. Comfortable though, stretchy jersey or tracky bottoms, you are likely to feel a bit delicate in the trouser area.

mitfordsisters · 08/01/2008 11:20

lol Norma - your mum went to charm school didn't she

Sarahjct · 08/01/2008 11:20

These bags are the bane of my life. Going in for an induction this evening and packing my bag for the 90th time. Am I the only person taking in a steamer trunk? How the feck am I meant to take the hospital's advice and 'travel light'? How do you do that??

And I wouldn't mind but I'll have a second back-up bag in the boot of the car and I still can't fit any going home clothes or 'round the ward' clothes. I've had to leave things in strategic places so that I can write notes for DH telling him exactly where things are to bring in.

Can I take a hairdryer in, does anyone know? I don't want to disturb the other mums or the sprogs but I look like Orphan Annie if I can't blow dry my hair.

Sorry

mitfordsisters · 08/01/2008 11:24

It is hard Sarahjct - congratulations by the way - you'll have your baby soon!

This is a hijack also - should you go up a size for pants for after the birth? sorry to be dim

pud1 · 08/01/2008 11:24

i have to agree sarahjct, i have had to upsize my bag twice. my oh did question why i was packing more than one vest, babygrow and socks as he thought that you got a baby dressed once a day and that was it. am starting to worry about him

don't know about hairdryers m'afraid - my style is pure hedge whatever I do to it

Twinkie1 · 08/01/2008 11:27

Buy yourself a nice wrap dress or 3 for going home and when you have people round - I thought a pair of jogging bottoms would do and a t shirt and how I look back with embarrassment and dread at those early photos!

mumofk · 08/01/2008 11:30

I wore stretchy comfy trousers to go into hospital in labour. They kept falling down when we were leaving. I suggest something you can tie/adjust to keep up!

kittylouise · 08/01/2008 11:32

I took my pre-pregnancy jeans into hospital with me - really, genuinely thought I would be able to get back in them that soon (people told me I was mad but I refused to listen).

HAAA that'll learn me.

I went into hospital in my denim pinafore dress (garment from hell) and that it what I left in.

Just assume you will need your maternity gear still.

And be prepared to look like an absolute fright in all those first-few-days photos.

Consolation was it only took a couple of weeks for everything to ping back into place, so I was lucky. I just expected it to take a couple of hours

in my head i thought you would be able to watch your stomach get flatter as the baby comes out.
i think i need to wake up and smell the coffee

pud i rememver standing in the shower after having dd1 thinking "GOD IM SO SLIM!" and being rather smug

then i tried to put my jeans on...

MerlinsBeard · 08/01/2008 11:39

hairdryer???hairdryer??

Blimey, with my first i could barely stand let alone dry my hair. I don't think you are allowed to take elctricals into hosp with you in any case.

As for the bag....my bag was enormous with DS1 but with ds2 i just took 2 changes for baby(DP could come home if needed more),small pack of nappies, wipes, blanket for baby, for me... night clothes, wash bag, towel,t shirt to give birth in and going home clothes (again DP could get me things from home) and obvioulsy those disposable pants and maternity pads.

Also, pack a plastic bag so that ypou can put anything really dirty in that instead of having to touch it every time you go in your bag!

MerlinsBeard · 08/01/2008 11:40

nah, it doesn't get flatter, just flabbier

goingfor3 · 08/01/2008 11:40

pud1 give your belly a wobble after having the baby, it will wobble for ages and amuse anyone watching!
