For anyone wanting a general guide on what happens with antenatal care you can check on the NHS website and it gives you a general breakdown, there is slight differences by area but my experience last year was;
When you're ready - fill out referral on your local hospital website in the maternity section/ contact your GP to be referred to community midwives
8-10weeks - booking appt with midwife where they just go through a general questionnaire to see if you are low/ high risk
If you are low risk;
12weeks - 1st NHS scan with sonographer, where they will check for any abnormalities for Downs and other genetic conditions. Letter in the post to confirm a week or so later.
16weeks - appt with midwife just to go over results and see if you have any questions
20weeks - 2nd NHS scan, most trusts will confirm gender here if you're wanting to know and another check of baby.
28/ 31/ 34/ 36 (and 40 if you make it that far, I didn't) - quick check ups with midwife where they measure your bump and listen to the heartbeat with a Doppler, you can also ask any questions you have and around 34 weeks they may start discussing your birth preferences.
Some trusts do offer an extra scan around 36weeks but not all of them.
Hope that's helpful to some people and not just an annoyingly long post 🙈
