Hello you lovely lot

I’m hoping somebody may have some pearls of wisdom for me in regards to the following….

I’m 12 weeks pregnant today & have been suffering with constipation (on top of nausea & sickness) since 6 weeks. The joys!

However (TMI to follow i’m so sorry) for the past several hours I have been on & off the toilet trying to birth a humongous poop but IT’S STUCK! I’m literally sat on the toilet going “GET OUT OF MEEEE” & nothing

I’ve managed to pass the smallest little chunks by aiding it with my fingers (bork) pressing on the area & knocking the tip off as it pokes out, like some sort of sadistic whack-a-mole. But there’s a tonne left up there, taunting me as it retreats back into hibernation!

First question - anybody else experienced this? Where the poop is literally just STUCK at the entrance?!
Second question - how long did it take for it to come out
Third question - what can i do to ‘induce labour’ so to speak, of this monster. I am so uncomfortable!

Thank you

Well done @aimeeeleanor now get on the branflakes!! Daily!

BeyondMyWits · 06/01/2022 14:09

But remember you need to drink much more fluid, if going down the bran flake route, or you will create a dry fibre bung...

Can I jump on this and ask if anybody suffered this type of constipation, when, if at all did it stop? I'm 17 weeks now and still no better, it stopped after the initial couple of months with my first. I've had tonnes of fibre and fluids this weekend and still no luck! Got my first midwife app tomorrow so going to have to ask for something for it but I don't really want to be taking medicines if I can help it🤦🏽‍♀️

I found the constipation worse with subsequent pregnancies!

Mine continued until my 3rd trimester, at which point I switched to diarrhoea. Yay.

Pregnancy constipation is the worst :( I recommend giving it a break. You’ll feel uncomfortable but it’s better than developing piles. Go back to it later on and hopefully gravity will do it’s thing and help you along (and if you do have any piles they should be less swollen from straining)

BabyB19 · 10/01/2022 08:11

Oh god @LadyPropane thanks for response but what a joy to look forward too! 😭🤦🏽‍♀️ luckily I'm stopping at two so there will be no more subsequent pregnancies after this one 🤣

Sadistic whack a mole is my new favourite description for a stubborn poo 😁

irene9 · 10/01/2022 09:23

Start every day with a pear and a glass of warm water.
As recommended to me by a physiotherapist to avoid constipation.
Have 2 pears if they are small.

Borgonzola · 10/01/2022 13:15

Do you really feel you need to go right now? Might be better to just get up and do something else and then have a go when it's really rearing it's head (literally), or you might get piles!

Hand hold of solidarity as I'm 11 weeks and have had uncomfortable moments. My stingy DP even went and bought me the expensive moist bum wipes as I was so sore last month. Good luck!

Borgonzola · 10/01/2022 13:17

Sorry, just seen you've achieved it, well done Grin

On a side note, does anyone find that their morning sickness nausea gets worse just before a poo? I often have to throw up afterwards Confused

BabyB19 · 10/01/2022 13:34

@Borgonzola I definitely feel the poo and the sick are connected too! The bum wipes made me laugh because my OH keeps asking 'how's your bum' it cracks me up. All dignity out the window 🤣

Georgeskitchen · 10/01/2022 13:42

Latex glove on , dip your finger in vaseline and run finger gently round the inside of your butt hole. That should grease the wheels for you 😆

Borgonzola · 10/01/2022 19:57

@BabyB19 my poor DP doesn't even need to ask, I feel the need to tell him in great detail... GrinBlush glad to hear I'm not the only one needing to perform the 'danger spin' Glitterball
