Hello you lovely lot

I’m hoping somebody may have some pearls of wisdom for me in regards to the following….

I’m 12 weeks pregnant today & have been suffering with constipation (on top of nausea & sickness) since 6 weeks. The joys!

However (TMI to follow i’m so sorry) for the past several hours I have been on & off the toilet trying to birth a humongous poop but IT’S STUCK! I’m literally sat on the toilet going “GET OUT OF MEEEE” & nothing

I’ve managed to pass the smallest little chunks by aiding it with my fingers (bork) pressing on the area & knocking the tip off as it pokes out, like some sort of sadistic whack-a-mole. But there’s a tonne left up there, taunting me as it retreats back into hibernation!

First question - anybody else experienced this? Where the poop is literally just STUCK at the entrance?!
Second question - how long did it take for it to come out
Third question - what can i do to ‘induce labour’ so to speak, of this monster. I am so uncomfortable!

Thank you

I used lots of microlax during my pregnancy, no need to suffer from constipation.

Needrichangemynameagain · 04/01/2022 08:18

Omg I had this when I was about 30 weeks.
It was so painful, I cried on toilet and I couldn’t move.
In the end I had to work, so I just started moving and walking and loosen up. But the pain of it stuck was so bad.

Thank you

Kellogs All Bran Clusters will quickly vacate your bowels in 24hrs.

Constipation is likely due to vitamins you're taking.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 04/01/2022 11:45

Laxatives/stool softener, black coffee and cigarette

Yebbie · 04/01/2022 11:48

@MrsDrSpencerReid

Ohhh boy did this happen to me GrinBlush

First pregnancy I had hyperemesis, couldn’t keep anything down, even water. The constipation was horrendous! I tried absolutely everything, but I was so so ill. Enemas, suppositories, laxatives (all on my GP’s advice) nothing would budge it.

I ended up in emergency and had to have it ‘manually extracted’ by a nurse Blush

This was after they did an ultrasound to look at all the poo Blush The Dr kept pointing saying “See this? Poo. This? Poo. This right here? Also poo.”

Poor DH had to sit and hold my hand while the nurse did the extraction and I shed many embarrassed tears!

Once the nurse had extracted a fair bit, I was able to finally ‘go’ and it felt like I passed a fucking wine bottle. The toilet clogged and they had to call maintenance Grin

The following day I think I pooped another 3 times before I was finally empty. It had literally been weeks!

Second pregnancy, hyperemesis again, constipation again, but I was able to ‘sort it out myself’ before it got too bad. It was still awful and took days and lots of tears but there was no way I was going to hospital again!

Oh my god you poor poor soul. Childbirth must have seemed a breeze after that Grin
Santaisstilleatingmincepies · 04/01/2022 11:54

My teen ds once rang me from the loo. He said he had a poo stuck and he promised never to get a girl pregnant if giving birth was worse than having a big poo!
Grin

Northernsoullover · 04/01/2022 11:58

As a frequent flyer, (not pregnancy Grin) I can confirm that eating several oranges per day, keeps things moving. Stock up on glycerin as pps said. Just in case you are in this position again.

Incywinceyspider · 04/01/2022 12:41

You have my sympathy. This happened to me when I was pregnant with DS, except I was at work. It was hideous and I had to go home (told my boss I had morning sickness. I didn't).

It took a good couple of hours, but the feeling once the bloody thing was out was amazing!

Firsttimetrier · 04/01/2022 12:59

This has me howling, I’m so sorry @aimeeeleanor! 😂😂

Have you tried prune juice? And drinking hot water? As pp have said, try to keep exercising as that will help!

Good luck!

BabyB19 · 04/01/2022 13:08

This has happened a few times for me, I drink a glass of fresh orange every day now to try and keep it to a minimum. It's awful it really is. I can see the Tv from my toilet and just put a film on (maybe on your phone) and just sort of forget where I am a little bit so im completely relaxed and that helps! 🤞🏼

rachb2019 · 04/01/2022 13:35

Youch! Sounds like you are repeatedly going through the 'ring of fire' without ever having the baby! Hope you poo soon!

This happened to me once as well - we went camping and I couldn't go the whole time we were there due to 'stage fright' in the camp site toilets. When we got home I had exactly the same problem! Blush

loverofpants · 04/01/2022 14:39

Oh I can totally sympathize- about one week PP I had this and similar after a GA. Can you get hold of an enema kit at the pharmacy? This worked for me.

Also, as someone suggested, squatting in the bath with the shower/hot water running over your bum will help.

I'm sorry it's so bad!!

Moaningturtle · 04/01/2022 17:27

I had this with my first pregnancy and once when not pregnant!

Drink a shit (sorry) load of water and coffee, have a hot bath then I second putting a clean finger inside your vagina and try to aid it out that way.

You have my sympathies, it really is awful.

WhatTheEll · 04/01/2022 18:02

I second the finger in the vagina theory. It really does work.

LizzeyBenett · 04/01/2022 19:23

This is TMI but in rare cases it can become impacted and can't actually pass even though it might be right there .. in that case and again TMI Get a latex glove and a finger up there to try um break it up a bit and it should pass 🙈 Please don't leave it for too long without any progress though and seek medical advise help if needed

stevalnamechanger · 04/01/2022 19:30

^ I'd go to rubber gloves , lube , manually remove :

Will sort it out in seconds !

Gross but effective !

Then try pregnancy safe fiber supplement , increased water , more fruit .

blitzen · 04/01/2022 19:56

You need to eat AllBran for breakfast every day

Policyschmolicy · 04/01/2022 20:01

How are you getting on? I’d speak to your GP about some lactulose tbh, I had to use it and fybogel every day through both pregnancies. Omg I just remember making fybogel up in the staff kitchen at work - clearly had no shame!!

CMhater · 04/01/2022 20:08

Send everyone out the house, lock the door, warm bath, lie back with knees bent into tummy.
Was the only thing that worked for me.

ImFree2doasiwant · 04/01/2022 20:12

@MrsDrSpencerReid thank you for your glorious story. The images!

OP - for now, try to "thumb it out". Thumb up thevagina, and push it out. Feeet up on a low stoll, pile of books or whatever. Breathe out slowly abd deeply.

For prevention - look into folic avid on its own (not in pregnacare or whatever) the iron in pregnancy vitamins will cause problems.
Bowl of branfkakes every day. Every single day!

Calmyourselfdown · 04/01/2022 20:16

Get a plastic tub/stool, and pop your feet on it while you’re on the loo, so your knees are higher than your hips. Magic! You can actually get something called a ‘squatty potty’ that fits round the base of your loo if it works for you going forward.
Thumb inside vagina and manipulate it out can help too.
To prevent happening again, increase fluid intake significantly. Good luck!

Jonesy88 · 04/01/2022 20:23

I’ve suffered with what you described- I needed a suppository to get the impacted poop out, then was prescribed lactulose (a softener) to help. It make the process go from traumatic to unpleasant which I could deal with. Lactulose is available over the counter if you aren’t able to get to a doctor.

Sparklespangle · 04/01/2022 20:25

Squat, feet flat on the floor, over some newspaper. Not very dignified but it is the best position for pooping.

PissPotPourri · 06/01/2022 08:32

OP have you had success?!

aimeeeleanor · 06/01/2022 12:56

IT CAME OUT GUYS!! I used a variety of your techniques & i managed to birth it. Hahaha thank you so much!
