I was crippled by PGP and generally feeling unwell. Despite losing over 1l of blood I verily skipped out the deluvery room. My SIL was puking many times a day and literally stopped the second they sowed her up for her section.

Honestly you may feel beat up etc from delivery but not like the grot off being pregnant.

Best of luck

God yes. Felt so much better immediately. Heartburn gone, groin pain gone. I didn't even mind the baby sleepless nights that much compared to trying to sleep heavily pregnant. No baby blues for me - I was so pleased not to be pregnant anymore!

MintJulia · 18/12/2021 17:01

That sounds completely normal. I had an easy pregnancy but I hated being pregnant. I couldn't run, I was so bulky and clumsy. I felt horrible.

But once I'd had ds, oh the relief! I lost my baby weight rapidly - a mix of breast feeding and walking with ds in a sling - and within a couple of months, I walked the Ridgeway with ds. It felt wonderful. Smile

Yes, brilliant not being pregnant anymore! I had severe PGP and although it was painful post-c section, it was different to the grinding pain I'd been in previously. Plus I no longer felt sick every evening. I am not doing pregnancy again.

DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes · 18/12/2021 17:13

Yeah me. Two terrible HG pregnancies with bad anaemia and iron injections. Lost 5L of blood with DD2 and spent a week in ICU. Still an improvement on being pregnant.

Thepowerofthelook · 18/12/2021 17:19

I was sick all day and sometimes in the night too from 5 weeks till I gave birth. I couldn't drink a cup of tea all pregnancy but I craved one the minute I gave birth and despite giving birth vaginally to twins felt better after birth (within a couple of hours) than I was in pregnancy.

DSGR · 18/12/2021 17:20

YES. Three times over, such a relief to have the baby every time

User363957392727 · 18/12/2021 17:22

Me! Every horrible symptom disappeared once baby was here! Hold on in there x

MiddleParking · 18/12/2021 17:22

SO much better. Being pregnant was such an ordeal for me both times. You’re so nearly there OP!

ThinkWittyThoughts · 18/12/2021 17:32

100% yes.

DC2 born, midwife checking for tears and I declared to the room at large "I'm so happy that I will never have to be pregnant again!"

Grin

Husband cheered!

Honestly the second time the relief was instant!

The minute they were born I felt better. Threw up every day for my whole pregnancy with both kids. They popped out and I was fine.

Alfixn · 18/12/2021 18:22

Same here. I remember the morning after my C section, rejoicing at how limber and mobile I felt compared to the day before!

And after puking all through pregnancy -including a few times on the day I had her - it was sooooo nice not to be bloody nauseous any more!!

babouchette · 18/12/2021 18:28

I'm 30 weeks and I cannot freaking WAIT to not be pregnant any more. The relief last time was instant and I'm excited to get it over with this time too.

KnobJockey · 18/12/2021 18:37

Absolutely better straight away, bloody big and long baby took up all the space inside, so as soon as she was out I could eat again- there was literally no room before that and I was sick after eating all the time.

Then gradually the after effects of PGP started to ease- I was only marvelling the other day how I took it for granted I could put on a pair of knickers myself, and over 2 years on it's still a novelty.

junebirthdaygirl · 18/12/2021 18:38

Only talking about this with friends today. So sick the whole time, weak, could hardly function. The relief of having it end was brilliant. Came home from hospital full of beans. Even the broken sleep etc didn't faze me as couldn't believe that feeling had gone. Each time for 3 pregnancies.

DramaAlpaca · 18/12/2021 18:40

God yes. I've three children but am not fond of being pregnant. By the time the sickness goes about halfway through, I've started to feel like a beached whale. The birth always came as a huge relief.

LilFoxes · 18/12/2021 18:43

Yes! Was released from hospital and took the dogs out, despite a nasty tear and 48 hours of no sleep, I felt amazing once DS was out. Sleepless nights with were fantastic compared to waking up to waddle painfully to the bathroom or eat my fourth packet of gaviscon!

soughsigh · 18/12/2021 19:20

Yes! Hideous indigestion the first time round, went away instantly.

The second time round I was just the usual bone tired and uncomfortable, I felt a lot better when the placenta had been delivered.

Even with a newborn I was like 'thank heavens I am no longer pregnant'

Flutterby8 · 18/12/2021 19:39

As soon as baby was out i felt more human.
I didnt even care that i needed loads of medical intervention following the birth or that ive been ill for weeks afterwards but i stopped feeling sick immediately and my pelvic pain stopped.
It was bliss!

TupilaLilium · 18/12/2021 19:44

I recall thinking “I feel so much better” when DS2 was 10 minutes old.

TheMagicDeckchair · 18/12/2021 20:24

I had a twin pregnancy- babies weighed nearly a stone between them. I felt like I’d been beaten up after birth and it was a long recovery but felt so much better! All these happy hormones flooded me. I was huge and couldn’t do anything. I’m pretty much back to my pre-pregnancy weight and feel so much better, despite the exhaustion.

This time last year I was in my second trimester of pregnancy and I feel much happier this year.

Firstbornunicorn · 18/12/2021 20:30

My baby is 11 days old and I’ve felt better every one of those 11 days than I did any day I spent pregnant.
