Hello everyone.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and last week my nausea sky rocketed.

I'm not vomiting but I am completely turned by almost all food. I can barely eat anything now, and I'm so uncomfortable.

Before this I was really eating well and balanced and following meal plans. Im just so worried, I just don't want to cause harm to little tummy bean.

Does anyone have any advice or had similar? Should I speak to the hospital about it?

My partner just doesn't get it. He thinks because I'm not throwing up I'm just being dramatic. I'm honestly quite upset that I might be setting everything up for failure 🥺 I feel so helpless about it.

I'm still taking my pregnancy vitamins, just before bed now x

It'll probably calm down again in a few weeks, but I know that's slim comfort now! Eat little and often, bland carby foods. I did a lot of yoghurt and toast. Keep taking the bits and keep hydrated. You may find a small snack every hour actually helps. I found gum or mouthwash also helped in between.

If it gets bad, ask for something to help. It's awful, and I'm just coming out the other end with the help of some meds, and mine wasn't even that serious (constant nausea, but never actually sick). Be kind to yourself. Baby will be just fine.

Thatsplentyjack · 10/12/2021 22:26

Ask your doctor for medication. Some of them are very reluctant to give it out, no idea why, so you might have to really push for it. Oh and tell your boyfriend he's a fucking dick and he can get to fuck.

BikeMyCycle · 10/12/2021 22:27

With my daughter I was nauseas and sick, this time I’m just nauseas all the time, not sure which is worse for me, I wretch a lot but nothing comes up. I think being sick was a release.

Tip: don’t get hungry, if I’m hungry then I feel so ill (also had this with my DD). We eat early now and that helps a lot!

2021mumma · 10/12/2021 22:31

What vitamins are you taking? I found pregnacare would really make my sickness worse. I swooped to boots own brand and was much better.

If sickness does get bad don’t be a martyr and speak to your midwife/gp there are lots of different medications out there. I ended up having to take medication and different types as first ones had no effect.

Also google Myrtle and Maude morning sickness bonbons these would provide relief also for me.

Fingers crossed yours passes soon!

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/12/2021 22:33

Seabands really helped mine, & making myself eat little and often - a couple of ginger biscuits, slices of apple or a piece of toast.
I felt far, far worse on an empty stomach.

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/12/2021 22:36

Oh, & don't worry about the baby - not eating much honestly won't harm them, they are still reliant on the yolk sac at the moment not the placenta.
Nausea is actually a very good sign for many pregnancies!
I was wayyyyy more nauseous this time around (tapered off around 12-13 weeks, I'm 15 now) than with my three previous pregnancies (which were sadly all 1st trimester MCs).

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 10/12/2021 22:47

I was like this with my first - never sick but awful nausea, I was even signed off work for a month with it and given anti sickness meds but was advised to only take them when needed (even the thought of the washing machine set mine off!) When I didn't fancy anything I did force myself to have something plain like toast just because I wanted to make sure I had something on my stomach. After a few weeks I found that snacking very, very often kept it at bay - mainly savoury stuff. My food was all beige - I remember just having some chips for tea once because it was all I fancied, then broke down to the midwife and said I was making bad food choices - she told me to ignore the textbook stuff they have to say and if I fancy something, eat it, as something is better than nothing.

My nausea was from around 6 weeks to 12 weeks, then came back at 14 weeks for 2 weeks.

(Oh and if one more person suggested ginger biscuits to me I would have happily punched them on the nose 🙃)

Hope it passes for you soon OP, I also found sea bands (Boots or Amazon) really helpful. Might be a placebo effect but I was willing to try anything!

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 10/12/2021 22:49

Oh! The ginger biscuit bit I meant because EVERYONE at work would tell me to eat them every single day... I did! They didn't work but they wouldn't listen to me and kept going on about them 🤣 they work for some people but I wasn't one of them unfortunately

This too about the vitamins - pregnacare really made me feel worse. I swapped to boots too

I would also quite happily punch someone in the nose for suggesting ginger biscuits! @dillydallydollydaydream7

GoodnightGrandma · 11/12/2021 06:33

Sipping - not drinking - cold Diet Coke helped me. Every time I felt the nausea coming I’d have a sip.
And eat small and often.
It’s not nice but it will pass.

Ginger biscuits are the worst, not the all time solution that people would lead you to believe!

That early pregnancy nausea is awful. I agree with not letting your stomach get empty. I loved salty crackers like ritz crackers and plain pasta cooked in very salty water

Coffeeonmytoffee · 11/12/2021 07:26

Just keep eating little and often. I lived on grapes and crackers.

newtolineofduty · 11/12/2021 07:38

Anti-sickness wrist bands have been a life saver for me this time hun! It's horrendous I totally feel your pain x

Newdreams · 11/12/2021 08:04

I really feel your pain op. I have just turned 16 weeks and finally stopped being sick the nausea is still there but I haven't vomited in a few days now. The dr was very against prescribing meds. Hopefully it gets easier from now. In terms of food try eat something little but often I know it sounds easier than done I would eat half a toast or couple of spoon of yogurt every hour or 2 depending on how I feel. Just want to let you know beginning of pregnancy literally could not eat anything and keep it down but thankfully baby doing very well had a repeat scan last week so don't be too hard on yourself.

RoseValleyRambles · 11/12/2021 12:13

I second the pregnacare issue. I swapped to them briefly and had a really sore stomach every time I took them. May be coincidence, but when I switched back to seven seas I was fine.

Totalwasteofpaper · 11/12/2021 12:16

Ginger cake and biscuits did nothing for me.

Carbonated ginger drinks were a small miracle though. I also had a lot of toast and butter sometimes with some sliced ham.
Also lots of citrus fruits (satsumas, tangerines etc)

Third pregnancies I didn't get on with those and take separate multivitamins all my levels are good.

Totalwasteofpaper · 11/12/2021 12:16

That should read
*I third the pregnacare comments

Garman · 11/12/2021 12:18

Just eat whatever you can keep down, don't stress about it, you don't have to be eating super healthy. Calling it tummy bean made me feel nauseous though 😂

Chunkymonkey13 · 11/12/2021 12:41

I was sick every day for the whole 9 months and my baby turned out fine. Even if you loose a little weight the baby will getting everything they need, they really are parasites.

Eat what you fancy even if it’s junk food, calories are better than no calories. You can focus on eating better hopefully once it settles in a few weeks

Haha I agree on the ginger biscuit situation! I even threw those up and it seemed to be most peoples hero advice of the day! "Have you tried ginger biscuits?"
justasking111 · 12/12/2021 16:39

Jacobs cream crackers dry with water. Satsuma crazy with all three and strawberry jam. Little and often I would eat nibbles with a cuppa in bed in the morning before getting up. I couldn't touch coffee so tea for nine months.

I fourth the pregnacare comments. Took me a while at week 6 to realise they were making me feel more nauseous! Also made my pee awful too! Now I take the pregnancy Bassetts gummies like a child because it's the only vitamin I can bare to swallow Grin
