No matter what aches and pains you feel after childbirth, you are on the upward curve… you can only get better… whereas as your baby is growing in you, you know it will get worse until you birth.

I would also say that being able to bend over and put your own socks on with ease for the first time in months is the best feeling ever.

Moonshine160 · 29/11/2021 21:48

Yes it improved for me.
Also my friend who had sickness and nausea all the way through her pregnancy said she felt instantly better the moment that baby was born.

sjxoxo · 29/11/2021 21:49

I can’t say for certain as I am 34 weeks like you! I don’t have nausea but god I am uncomfortable!! I literally move like a beached whale 😅 sitting is uncomfortable; standing is uncomfortable; lying down is almost hell on any side!! I think your symptom of nausea will definitely improve after birth as this is due to hormones and possible lack of space on the inside- so without growing baby in there I think you will recover fully from that!! I have awful heartburn too. Hope you feel better soon! Xo

Mano2020 · 29/11/2021 21:52

I felt exactly like you until the day i gave birth and instantly i could eat again. It took me a few weeks to get my appetite back properly but nausea and all the issues disappeared the day i gave birth. Smile

NoraLuka · 29/11/2021 21:53

I felt dizzy and sick towards the end of pregnancy, and just generally bloated and had swollen legs. Started to feel better literally just after giving birth - it was an easy birth but had bleeding etc. Still felt miles better than being pregnant!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 29/11/2021 21:54

God yes, felt instantly better the moment the baby popped out.

Start looking forward to your first meal without heartburn!

Daisy4569 · 29/11/2021 21:54

Yes definitely, felt immediately better

Pancakeplant · 29/11/2021 21:54

Almost instantly after giving birth I felt like myself again. I was sore and recovering, and sleep-deprived, but felt so much lighter and more free, not sick, and like I finally had the full use of my lungs again.

Franca123 · 29/11/2021 21:57

I definitely felt a million times better immediately after the birth. I had two hellish pregnancies in terms of no energy, sickness and nausea. All my symptoms instantly vanished as soon as my babies were born. I had energy back and was really happy pottering about the post labour ward in the evenings. Food tasted good, water tasted good and didn't swish about my stomach. Only symptom that remained for me was not liking tea. I like tea now but took months to come back.

Driposaurus · 29/11/2021 21:58

Yes. Had to be restrained to stop me walking too fast around the ward after my first - it was so lovely to be able to move around without the aches and pains.

It was a bit trickier after the other two, but I did definitely better after than before.

I didn’t have stitches though, so although swollen, my injuries very quickly healed.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/11/2021 22:00

Yep and both mine were emergency sections! Dc2 in particular I had awful nausea, anaemia and back pain. I was an exhausted hobbling mess who felt dizzy every time I stood up faster than my 90 odd year old grandmothers.

When she was 50 hours old we went out for lunch and I felt fantastic compared to the previous three months.

Italiandreams · 29/11/2021 22:01

Hugely! I was so sore and uncomfortable ( large transverse baby) Also had awful heartburn and sickness. I was a bit sore after having the baby but in myself I felt so much better, and a couple of weeks later I felt physically so much better! Was so nice to be able to bend down and play with my older child again. It’s tough though but it will get better.

RandomMess · 29/11/2021 22:01

Yep I felt better after the birth with all of mine.

DSGR · 29/11/2021 22:03

Yes. Hated being pregnant with all the discomfort. Nausea and heartburn. Births were hard and recovery long but my god I just felt like me again

GeorgeTheFirst · 29/11/2021 22:06

What? Yes, of course. Loads better!

stalebananabread · 29/11/2021 22:11

This thread is giving me hope! 39 weeks with my second baby and I feeling I've aged 50 years - everything hurts, I'm exhausted, I can't breathe properly and my legs are so swollen I'm down to one pair of joggers and sliders. I didn't have any of this with my first baby (although I do remember the utter joy of sleeping on my front for the first time in months!) so it's a relief to hear that this might all improve immediately after the birth!!

twinkletoesbluesky · 29/11/2021 22:11

It's no consolation but I'm 35 weeks and starting to really struggle, lots of acid reflux, constipation, nausea, lack of appetite, tiredness. Don't remember having it this bad in my last pregnancy. I just want to feel normal again Smile Counting down the days to meet baby No 2 and the prospect of getting back to normal

RaquelPenn2 · 30/11/2021 07:07

thanks everyone, this has made me feel a lot better... have been having such depressive thoughts about having to feel this awful & look after a baby at the same time... its so helpful to know that improved after for lots of you

Why would you still feel nauseous and stuff after the birth? It's the pregnancy hormones that do it so of course it stops when the baby is born.

Em39ma · 30/11/2021 08:56

With my dd it was like someone switched a switch. I felt like death all the way through, then I had my c section and was like I could do a jig. It was instantaneous. I was worried like you, I was going for 20 minute walks after 7 days and by 14 days about 40 minutes plus.

i wasn't sure if post-partum/breastfeeding hormones would do the same

Don't worry, it really is different once the baby is here.

However, with a newborn, I did slightly go into a spiral of thinking I'd never sleep again. But that didn't last forever either!

peoniesandpastels · 30/11/2021 11:09

Yes! Instant relief. I had an emergency c-section with my first, which was it's own set of discomforts, but lots of the symptoms I had most struggled with in my third trimester - pelvic pain, heartburn - went away pretty immediately.

I had a vaginal birth with my second 10 days ago. I feel physically better than I have since before pregnancy and that's despite a postpartum hemorrhage and 2nd degree tear. You'll be amazed how quickly things improve.

Flutterby8 · 30/11/2021 11:53

Pregnancy sickness was absolutely awful and came back for me in the 3rd trimester. I was induced last week and the nausea and reflux literally stopped straight after birth.
I havent taken any medication for it at all since she arrived which is amazing!

Just10moreminutesplease · 30/11/2021 11:57

Yes! Even recovering from a c section felt like a relief compared to those last few weeks.
