Thanks HairyIrene it was my late mother's middle name her first name was Barbara but I preferred Mary! I realised that my dd's initials were Ema and my name is Emma which was quite amusing.

lucysnowe · 12/12/2007 17:12

I have two middle names and because the second one sounds like a surname, people (esp flight bookers!) always think it is the first part of a double-barrelled name.

Having said that, I rather like having two. And those you've chosen are lovely.

HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 17:13

i think thats nice awww..
its very simplistic, soft name
and underused

TenLordsaLapin · 12/12/2007 17:16

Oh - B, EAR, she'll be little bear!

FlossALump · 12/12/2007 17:18

our two have two middle names - one from DP's family and one from mine. Fair that way!

bubblagirl · 12/12/2007 17:29

my ds has 2 middle names bless him only had 1 then found my best friend was dying of cancer so gave him his name too i think my son has the worlds longest name lol

DarthVader · 12/12/2007 17:40

I think that two middle names sounds like either you are upper class or you want to be! But I also think you should do whatever you fancy, regardless of what anyone else might think!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 12/12/2007 17:46

"sounds like either you are upper class or you want to be"

Nothing wrong with 2 middle names. Perfect for telling off as when you get to using all of them, they know they are in big trouble. I think BabyDragon could have done with a few more names TBH.

bigmyrrhstrikesagain · 12/12/2007 17:51

Oi I have 2 middle names - due to parental indecision - my parents were certainly not trying to be 'upper class' or pretentious - how very dare you Darth

pinetreedog · 12/12/2007 17:57

lovely names

HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 18:05

yo pinetreedog!
just twigged!
like it with surrey accent..

and so you do namechange..!

crikey, this is probably not who i think it is now...

pinetreedog · 12/12/2007 18:56

I name-change at christmas. I'm a festive sort.

You should at least be BeardyIrene should you not?

HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 19:33

hey not bad!
but the hairy is not for changing!

given up with the namechanging atm
am a fickle sort!

yomellamoHelly · 12/12/2007 19:50

Would personally only go for two middle names if one of them were there for tradition / family reasons. One of my husband's, for example, is Morton because second born boys in his family had been given it for the last three generations. That said we didn't follow suit with our second born son (dh hates hate hates it)!

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 12/12/2007 19:51

Eve Rose Alice is better

SHEENA1 · 12/12/2007 19:55

I like middle names my daughters

chloe paterson westlands and my son will be Andrew gavin Paterson and then the surname

thehollyandtheivy · 12/12/2007 21:08

How do you know I'm not Darth?
Glad you all seem to like it. I think if I shorten it, I'll lose the Alice, love that name so may have to say it for DD3 (should that ever happen).
ERB, doesn't signify anything weird does it?!

I see no problem with 2 middle names.. I have three

apparently when I was christened the priest asked if they wanted to add Fred on the end

I think the names go beautifully together.

daisymo · 12/12/2007 21:59

We chose 2 middle names just as we were going to register the birth - we'd chosen one which was my gran's and then suddenly OH wanted his gran's name too. So she has quite a long name - Ruby Lily Elsie ... but we like them both and will tell her she can just choose to use one/none/whatever

I never use my middle name

We'd considered Ella but realised Ruby Ella sounded too much like Rubella

And now she shares a name with Charlotte Church's offspring!

halogen · 13/12/2007 21:11

I have two middle names so can confidently state that it's not in the least poncy or pretentious. FWIW, I really liked having two middle names.

halogen · 13/12/2007 21:11

And those names are lovely!

MerryPIFFLEmas · 13/12/2007 21:13

Lovely simple clasic names

Beware the acronym of EAR would be my only concern, but I'm a little obsessive having a surname that in parts rhymes with F++k...

Two of my kids have 2 middle names, one is a bit wanky but that was his father....

SnowMuchToBits · 13/12/2007 21:24

I don't think there is anything wrong with 2 middle names. If we had had a dd, she would have been Isabel Jane Alexandra (due to some indecision etc), although our ds just has one middle name.

I like Eve Alice Rose, and actually like Alice the best out of these, so please don't leave it out!
