I'm interested if the average weight gain is 30lb, baby is only 7-8lb of that.. how much do you also lose with the baby after birth within first weeks or so?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Pre pregnancy was 69kg ( thanks to lockdown a few extra lb) couple of days before ds birth I was 85kg so 16kgs gained. 4 days after birth was 76kg so 8kg loss. Month after birth was 70kg, he now just shy of 7 month and still about 70kg can't seem to get rid of it, my body shape has changed to, hoping when I'm back to work and on my feet all day the rest will come off.
Try not to worry about it to much we are all different. Not everyone bounces back within 2sec of pushing the baby out

Gained 20lb, was at my pre pregnancy weight the first time I weighed myself a week after birth.

RavenclawsRoar · 05/11/2021 18:39

I read somewhere you shouldn't weigh yourself until at least 6 weeks pp as you're still bleeding, sweating out excess fluids etc. I do know I gained 22lbs with ds2 and it had all gone by 3 months pp.

nc1985 · 05/11/2021 18:45

DC1 gained 11kg, baby was 2.5kg, lost maybe 3-3.5kg straight after the birth?

Lost all the weight in about 8-9 weeks.

DC2 gained 13kg, baby was 2.8kg, don't know what I weighed after the birth.

Lost all the weight in about 6 months that time 🙈 But at least I lost it!

nc1985 · 05/11/2021 18:46

I should add, I started at 63kg

Chelyanne · 05/11/2021 19:23

I didn't weigh myself for a couple of weeks after birth and was 12kg lighter than the day before birth, baby was 4.96kg (10lb 15oz). Placenta was huge & waters flooded surgery floor lol.

Whysotired · 05/11/2021 19:27

18 pound lighter by day 8.. 24 pound lighter 4 weeks after birth.. I was holding a lot of fluid tho.. my feet went up a shoe size and took 3 weeks to go back to normal after birth.

MuchTooTired · 05/11/2021 19:27

I put on 4 stone whilst pregnant with my DTs. Their combined birth weight and placenta was

Caspianberg · 05/11/2021 19:28

Low bmi to start with. Gained 20kg

Baby was 4kg, lost 12kg by day 2 when I went home. So 12kg was baby/ placenta/ liquid etc.

The other 8kg fell of really quickly. Without about 6-8 weeks. Was breastfeeding which I think helped hugely.

MuchTooTired · 05/11/2021 19:29

Sorry, hit post too soon!

Their combined birth weight and placenta was 1st 5lb, and I lost a good 2l of fluid as I had severe pe. My legs had sprung leaks a couple of days before I had them, and this continued for a while.

In total out of my whole weight gain, only 1st was biscuits, the rest was baby/water retention.

polkadotpixie · 05/11/2021 19:32

I gained 27lbs and lost 15lbs by the time I left hospital (DS was 6lb 14oz)...never have lost the rest 😂

Pumpkinstace · 05/11/2021 19:32

Baby might be only 7lb, but there is the fluid and placenta and stuff.

I was weighed in labour and just after. Just over half a stone difference and my baby was 3lb 6oz.

I didn't gain in pregnancy. I was very ill and lost 3st in total.

TaraRhu · 05/11/2021 19:33

Babies were 7.2 and 6.2lbs. I put on 2 stone on each pregnancy. Was back to normal (9.3 stoneish) by 6 weeks with my first and 3 with my second. Skin sagging remains though so it's not all about weight.

Chelyanne · 05/11/2021 19:34

@muchtootired I stopped weighing myself with our twins, I was huge and swollen in places I never expected lol.

minipie · 05/11/2021 19:37

I lost absolutely loads but DD was in NICU so I was stressed, not eating much and also pumping enough milk for triplets

Not a recommended route to lose weighy

SickAndTiredAgain · 05/11/2021 19:40

All of it within a few weeks. But I didn’t put on that much (maybe 20lbs), and have always struggled with maintaining a high enough weight, I’m generally underweight.

Nicklebox · 05/11/2021 19:40

When i had my 1st 28 years ago i put on 2stone the baby weighed 6lb 7oz and four days later when they weighed me in the hospital I had only lost 4lb. I think it was because i had huge boobs with loads of milk. I did lose the extra weight quite quickly once i got home. lol

Chippymunks · 05/11/2021 19:45

My baby was 9lb and when I weighed myself a few days later I’d lost 20 lb.

Thatsplentyjack · 05/11/2021 19:46

No idea but I put on 4 stone by the end of my pregnancy. Baby was 10lb 6 and I was very bloated, but 2/3 months later I was still 2 stone heavier than my pre baby weight. 9 months later now and I'm 2lbs lighter than my pre baby weight, but I had put on weight before I got pregnant I've s got ateast a stone those before I'm happy.
With my first 2, I have no idea what I weighed before and after but I was back in my pre baby clothes 2 days after my first baby, and a couple of weeks after my second.

DuneFan · 05/11/2021 19:49

Gained 2 stone exactly last pregnancy with starting BMI of 19. Lost it all again within a week of giving birth.

Six months later, having spent most of that on the sofa breastfeeding and eating chocolate, I was back up a stone!

Csx99 · 05/11/2021 19:52

I gained 3.5 stone (I had pre eclampsia and severe polyhydramnios as well as an almost 9lber) - I didn't weigh myself until 6 weeks pp where I had lost 2 stone Smile

User00000000 · 05/11/2021 20:13

It varies loads I think. I only put on about 1 stone with each pregnancy (I'm usually about 9st2) and although I didn't weigh myself I was back in my normal skinny jeans within a week. I think all my weight gain was just baby and extra fluid.

I had hg though and felt horrendous throughout both pregnancies so I'd rather have had a few extra pounds to lose!

MuchTooTired · 06/11/2021 18:29

Lol, I don’t blame you for stopping! I stopped when I saw the scales hit 16st 4oz, I was just too upset.

Without being creepy (I remember your post from another twin birth weights thread!) your babies weighed more than mine at birth so you must’ve been even more uncomfortable than I was. Was totally worth it for the bouncy babies at the end, but I’ve still not shifted the biscuit stone and they’re 3.5 now Blush

Monicatatie · 06/11/2021 22:43

Not much for me. I only started losing weight when I stopped breastfeeding. Baby is a 13 months old now and I'm finally back to my prepregnancy weight
