Dalejones · 06/10/2021 22:22

Right my partner is not about 8 weeks pregnant with our second, she has severe hyperemesis again (had it all through the pregnancy of our first child) but this time its alot worse they did a scan and found its twins which we are over the moon about, but my partner is at her lowest point she has ever been in her life she has constant nausea every minute of every day and she throws up approx 40 times a day, she is absolutly wiped out, she can hardly talk she cant move she has been to hospital on a drip twice, the anti sickness tablets are making no difference, I had to ring my work and take a few weeks off to be there for her as it's not easy with a 3 year old running riot, we have now moved my partner down to her parents so they can look after her properly and tonight they have said she cant go on and she wants to terminate the pregnancy, I just feel like it cant be the only option, I'd do anythin to take the pain from her, need urgent advice, wot can we do?

The pregnancy sickness support Facebook group was so supportive for me. It's a terrible way to feel

Crying here for you…really happy for you and your wife and adorable twins.
I had hyperemesis in 2003 (the outcome is clattering round in the kitchen making a racket!)
I know and remember well what it was like.
all the best x

Thanks, shes adamant that she wants to make an appointment in the morning to terminate, 😫 theres nothing I can say as it's her health that's being affected, she says they have given her a new prescription and it's making a tightness in her lung, what ever that means I dont know but I dont think shes going to carry on

A few Hospice nurses have said that Nausea and vomiting is one of the most distressing symptoms a person can endure.

It makes life wretched (retched!?)
It's a dirty, vile, ghastly feeling, completely exhausting.

Looking after a 3 yr old while suffering nausea and vomiting must be horrendous for your poor partner.

It is a proof of how awful she must be feeling to consider termination.

I hope she gets meds that work, but if she decides termination is the only option
Maybe she can't actually cope with the idea of Twins?..It will be a huge upheaval for her, three under fives,

I just wanted to pop on here with an update and to thank you all for your support! We went on to have 2 beautiful healthy babies that are now 6 months old! A year from when I made this post at a time that we consider our lowest point, the sickness carried on until December (around the 20 week mark) then eased off just in time for my brothers wedding! Here is a pic of beautiful Leo and Ember! Forever thankful!.. and to anyone who finds this post in the future who is looking for help and is suffering the way that we were here is living proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel and things will get better! God bless everyone! X

Wonderful news!
I didn't realise this was a ''Zombie''...Your wife did extremely well.

All power to her! Well done x

Donttalkimcounting · 04/11/2022 23:31

Oh thank you so much for the update.

Your twins are gorgeous! And well done to your wife for making it through and to you for doing everything you could to try and figure out the help she needed.

You sound like a really special family.

Huge congratulations!xx

Congrats OP, such a lovely update and well done to your DW for getting through it (and you also.) What a struggle it is, but the beautiful babies are all worth it... something you can't quite believe when you're being sick for the thousandth time 😄🤦‍♀️

And for anybody who stumbles across this post in the future, please request XONVEA and push, push, push for it!

I had terrible hyperemesis:- metaclopromide, cyclazine, ondansatron, a horrible tablet your melted under your tongue and thiamine didn't touch the sides and I thought I couldn't continue. I was about to be given steroids on my 5th hospital admission for dehydration when I was prescribed Xonvea and I stopped vomiting 30+ times a day down to a couple of times. It really was an absolute miracle drug for me and the only reason I hadn't been prescribed before was due to the cost. They only prescribe it after repeat hospital admissions and after you try all the other (cheaper) medications. But it made my pregnancy tolerable when prior to the Xonvea I was losing the will to live.

Congratulations!! Such a wonderful update! ❤️❤️❤️

Congratulations! I terminated my last pregnancy due to hyperemesis. I was traumatised by my 2nd pregnancy (hyperemesis) and had panic attacks. But seeing this post and now having strength I'm going to be brave and get help/support for my current pregnancy. I wish I had been stronger but sometimes it's just not manageable and doctors don't listen.

abbs1 · 15/11/2022 21:53

OP, this has made me so happy for you. I remember when you originally posted and I was in the midst of my 2nd hg pregnancy. I was so hoping you would find the help you needed to get through it. I want to cry happy tears for you as I could see how stressed and worried you were about how to carry on. Im so glad you did. What gorgeous little ones you have! Huge congratulations. Have a wonderful Christmas!

I completely agree! Xonvea needs to be shouted from the roof tops! It was the only way I got through my 2nd hg pregnancy. It needs to be made much more accessible in this country.
