When did you start to get really uncomfortable

Morning. I'm 27+2 (first baby) and still feeling relatively comfortable. If I have a big meal in the evening I have to get husband to help me take off my socks but otherwise, I still feel pretty mobile and flexible and can pretty much do everything (except do my coat up over my belly, see you some time next year, coat!). However, coming up to the 3rd trimester, I am conscious that this is the time when things start to get physically a bit more difficult.

Did you find you weren't able to do certain things as you got bigger? When did it start? I want to prepare myself if it ends up not being long before I can easily put on my own shoes!!!

OP posts:

I am 36 weeks and I still run after my toddler Grin
For both pregnancies I started to fell "huge" only during the last month, meaning it's more difficult to bend and put my shoes on, If I sit on the floor I struggle a bit to get up smoothly, and I keep slamming my bellies on countertops Grin
And i am of course tired, as it is normal at this stage!
But pregnancies are different for every single woman!

Best wishes for your growing belly Flowers

I’m 35 weeks and 2 days, and I’ve started to feel it this week. Nights are uncomfortable and I have back/hip ache and the frequent need to wee plus pregnancy carpal tunnel! I feel it’s all hit me out of nowhere 🤣 (first baby!)

Xyzzzzz · 06/10/2021 10:28

37 weeks tomorrow and I have a toddler but I’ve felt uncomfortable since around 30 weeks. I just struggle to get up and turn in bed.

hewegoagain · 06/10/2021 14:56

With DS I honestly can't remember being uncomfortable at any point. I loved being pregnant! I even managed to shave my own legs and bikini line before going in for an induction at 40+10 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

Because he was born going into the spring I had shoes that were easy to slip on and off. I think I had a couple of pairs of ballet flats and prior to that some slouchy boots that were easy to slide on.

I did have one incident around 40 weeks were I'd got down onto the floor to cuddle the dog and then couldn't get back up again 🤣 I eventually managed to get up on my knees and clamber up the sofa!

Ughmaybenot · 06/10/2021 14:59

I’m currently 35.5 weeks and feeling good, much to my surprise given I’ve got no end of chronic joint and pain issues normally, so I’m interested in the responses here!
Mind you, the constant trips to the loo are getting a bit wearing 😂

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 06/10/2021 15:50

33 weeks - struggling to put on socks (or specifically just my right sock) and everything else is 'ok' - I swapped my trainers to elastic shoe laces so I don't need to fasten them - I can just slip them on and off - otherwise I think I'd be having issues. This last week my bump has really taken off!

Housebears · 06/10/2021 15:53

I hated 32-37 or so due to the lack of lung space, it was terrible.

I’m 39 now, the baby has dropped and I feel like I could walk for miles again!

Caspianberg · 06/10/2021 15:57

I still put own shoes on etc the whole way, otherwise would have been stuck.

I think from around 35 ish weeks I was definitely more tired and the bump was just awkwardly in the way for day to day things

peachgreen · 06/10/2021 16:05

I went to 41+2 with a 10lb 13oz baby and barring a tiny bit of carpal tunnel right at the end I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Having said that, DD was so huge that she never dropped, so I guess that might have made a difference.

Peony2021 · 06/10/2021 17:25

I'm 38w3d and still doing everything I could in the first trimester so am counting myself lucky (after a truly awful first 16w with sickness). I would say if you can keep active now that will definitely help a little towards the end of the third trimester. I also used by birthing ball from around 25w to keep back pain / hip pain at bay! A little yoga helped too.

QuiltedHippo · 06/10/2021 17:28

I always felt fine, except for sore hips at night in 3rd trimester as you have to side sleep. If you were still allowed to sleep on your back it'd have been fine!
I walked for an hour every morning with the dog which helped I think, did youtube yoga if I ever got backache. Its not inevitable that you'll be huge and uncomfy, good luck!

romdowa · 06/10/2021 17:37

Im 35 weeks and I've been pretty uncomfortable since 31 weeks with my pelvis . Some days now I struggle to walk but I'm in agony every night in bed Trying to turn over.

BlackberrySt · 06/10/2021 17:38

I went to 41w, was able to do 3-4 mile walks right up until the end. But found turning over in bed really difficult. Plus I had this awful thing like cramps in my bladder where I could barely move but also felt like I needed to wee immediately. Then the wee wouldn’t flow properly once I’d staggered to the loo.

First wee after giving birth felt amazing! And I’m still delighted about being able to sleep on my front again.

SickAndTiredAgain · 06/10/2021 17:45

I found turning over in bed difficult but during the day I was never really uncomfortable or not able to do things.

FindingMeno · 06/10/2021 17:53

With my first I had swollen feet and carpal tunnel so my DH had to cut up my food for probably most of the 3rd trimester.
With my 2nd I remember no discomfort or problems other than heartburn most of the way through and struggling to get up from the floor by week 39+ ( I had a huge bump with my second)
Neither were anything beyond a nuisance and I could manage fine, except I wouldn't have worn dm's and try to lace them Smile

thetesdybears · 06/10/2021 21:49

Def 35/36 wks onwards just so uncomfortable. It got worse around 39-40 weeks and my last week upto 41wks was unbearably heavy and awkward, sleep was so difficult. I cld not wait to get baby out. When they said I had to be induced for high blood pressure I was so happy and relieved!

I didn't even make it 38wks second time so didn't get to repeat that awful stage and was so glad! I was at soft play day before she was born climbing things as my 2yr old was stuck 🙈 waters broke later that night

Plotato · 06/10/2021 21:52

I didn't really. Could paint my toenails til the end both times! Worked in an active job up til delivery at 39 weeks. I don't think it's necessarily inevitable, just luck how your body deals with pregnancy really.

physicskate · 06/10/2021 22:13

Count yourself lucky! I had really bad pgp from about 12/13 weeks with my first pregnancy s symptoms started at 8 weeks with my second. So I waddled and could move much before I got a bump both times.

Zarene · 06/10/2021 22:17

I never really did (but DD was only 6lbs which I assume is linked).

Flutterby8 · 06/10/2021 23:13

30 weeks and things went downhill!
I developed what I thought was a UTI at 28 weeks but it was the begining of pelvic girdle pain and by 30 weeks Im struggling to walk and even get up from a seated position.
I also developed carpal tunnel at 30 weeks and cant grip a thing.
Im now 31 weeks and feel like baby is going to fall out every time I stand up which is terrifying. Im now struggling to do alot of things but still have several weeks left at work!

8dpwoah · 06/10/2021 23:26

With my first I worked up until 38 and a bit weeks and felt fine to do so, just couldn't shave my legs or put my shoes on easily. If it weren't for the feet wedged in the ribs which made it hard to bend down, and the indigestion (she didn't really drop, I was induced at term and she was quite happy where she was) I'd have been skipping about fairly happily. Oh getting out of bed was a hassle too but it was mechanical things from having 3kg of baby plus placenta and fluid sat on the front of me 24/7 rather than feeling bad.

This time I think I got to about 36 weeks and then started feeling fed up and knackered but I've not been at work and therefore distracted, and also having a toddler to entertain is hard work anyway 😂. When we play on the floor I use all sorts of moves to avoid having to haul myself up onto my feet until i really need to. This baby is sitting a lot lower though so my ribs are happy at least.

BebesChamber · 06/10/2021 23:28

I was uncomfortable from 20 weeks. Severe PGP.

RussianSpy101 · 06/10/2021 23:29

Around 37 weeks

Velvetscrunchy · 07/10/2021 00:00

Around 27 weeks - it just came on suddenly. Acid reflux, breathless, pain in my ribs. I am not enjoying it.

ScotsMumOf4 · 07/10/2021 00:02

I'm 32+5 and feeling pretty uncomfortable. I'm measuring 4 weeks ahead though so trying to do things like bend down to empty the washing machine and tie my laces is quite difficult. Just beginning to feel proper pressure on my pelvis so I'm still managing to sleep well
