Just got pink discharge with flecks of red at 35 weeks at 2am?

I just woke up and went to the loo and when I wiped had a bit of pink and some flecks of red in the discharge… I have had quite a lot of discharge throughout the pregnancy and during the day earlier today I noticed a lot but I don’t think it was my waters or anything it just looked like the usual creamy stuff.

I called the delivery suite (through the triage number) and it took ages to get through because they said they are dealing with an emergency there right now.

When I got through the midwife said it’s nothing to worry about and to call back if it’s red or heavier. I said well it does have a bit of red in it. She was like that’s still fine, is baby moving? He has done a few movements since I woke up so I said yes. She was like just monitor it.

I’m worried about going into preterm labour and also about infections if my cervix is dilating. Please could anyone provide any reassurance as to what might be happening to me right now? This is my first baby so I’m scared and don’t think I’ll sleep now! Thanks

If you want more reassurance call again, if I took a call regarding this I would say just what I said in my previous post. It’s all normal, sit it out. Vaginal loss is normal, and will increase the closer you get to baby coming, your body preparing for birth.

Thank you, I think I’m just worried that the wet pants at the weekend was my waters… and what if my baby is now at risk of infection?

It looked pretty watery in my pants, but I couldn’t say for sure and I know I didn’t notice anything until I went to the toilet and then I only had discharge after that. I’m just worried that I should be seen… the midwife on the phone said it doesn’t sound like enough to be my waters but how does anyone really know without actually seeing me to check?

I’m slightly worried that because they are busy they are just trying to keep people away as much as poss.

I don’t know, I just don’t want to risk anything. Baby is still moving as normal right now but surely if it stops/slows down it could already be too late?

It feels like I’m taking a risk by just waiting, when I could just get checked to make 100% sure my waters haven’t broken.

Not sure whether to just turn up tomorrow or something and ask to be seen?

I don't think what you've described is your waters; although they don't always go in a gush (one of mine was a trickle that stopped and started) it would be ongoing and definitely more than what could be mistaken for discharge.
However, trust your gut and always always get checked if you're in any doubt. If it's stressing you out then I would ask to go in and be checked. Fetal health can put you on the monitors and check your baby's heart rate too .

My waters went at 30 weeks. I had a clear fluid with bloody streaks in it, just a very little. They were trickling away not gushing.

Take no risks; see your midwife and get a ferning test done.

(I later had a placental abruption, so I'm very glad I went in. I was actually in the hospital on the heartbeat monitor when it happened)
