No heartbeat at 7 weeks

Has this happened to anyone? No heartbeat at 7 weeks? Got my scan 2 days ago, measuring right on 7 weeks. Had HCG blood test a week prior and was at 73,432 and just went for my HCG blood test results today from yesterday as I had to get more HCG blood work done and it was 127,039! My doctor ensured me sometimes you can’t pick up a heartbeat until 8 weeks and they average between (6-8 weeks) and sometimes they can just be slow. I’m so scared, my HCG bloods are good, I have no bleeding or cramping.. everything seems good except no heartbeat was detected, they used a transvaginal ultrasound too because my uterus is tilted, in saying this 2 weeks prior to this scan I had another scan and they only seen a yolk sac and told me to come back 2 weeks after and now seen an embryo bit no heartbeat!!

Has this happened with anyone else ?

@toadstool32 sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I’m glad you’re pregnant now and atleast you’re nearly at the safe zone (12 weeks) I’ll be talking to my doctor Thursday about my options, I’m hoping to go for the medication side and getting it over and done with. Hopefully the HCG gets out of my system quickly so I can continue the baby making. It’s not 100% that I’m going to miscarry but there’s a high chance. But I’m just preparing for the worst; hoping for the best. If I see a baby with a heartbeat on the screen it’s a miracle, but my HCG didn’t increase they stayed the same so that’s put me in a bummer of a mood

@toadstool32 may I ask how high your HCG was before your initial miscarriage ?

I had an ectopic first time, second time I went for the internal scan at 7 weeks, we could see the sac but no heartbeat. At eight weeks we saw the heart beat, plus a second sac no heartbeat, at nine weeks we saw two sacs and 2 heartbeats, all were internal scans as I was so early.
My twins are now late 20s.
I hope you get better news than you think.

I'm very sorry op.

I've also experienced a MMC, I went for a D&C as for me personally I needed it over and done with so I could focus on myself.

I waited 8 weeks for my period to arrive, which at the time I absolutely hated but now looking back it gave me time to heal.

Thinking of you Thanks

enodmai · 16/08/2021 08:11

I'm sorry to hear the hcg hasn't gone up, how many days is it between tests ?

It's not over yet, try and stay positive x

Hardploc · 16/08/2021 09:12

Mine had no detectable heartbeat at 9 weeks according to my scan report. It was clear she was alive though because she was wriggling her tiny legs and arms so it wasn’t a concern

KarinaWhyte · 16/08/2021 09:36

@enodmai two days, it didn’t increase but it hasn’t decline either. I’m just thinking because I’m around 127,000 HCG, my HCG has now reached its peak which it can around 8-10 weeks and then it declines a little bit in second trimester! Doctor asked if I wanted to do another lot of bloods but I said no, doctor said it all depends on the ultrasound now. She asked if I was bleeding and I said nope! No spotting what so ever

@OnlyJoking1 seriously ? That gives me some hope

Oh OP, I'm sorry, I've still got everything crossed for you ❤️

headintheproverbial · 16/08/2021 14:19

Hoping for good news.

Only two pregnancies here and heart beat at 6w for both.

KarinaWhyte · 16/08/2021 20:49

@headintheproverbial @Mamamamasaurus I still have a tiny bit of hope, I know it’s stupid. But I’m just hoping BEST case scenario... my HCG has reached peak (hence the barely any increase in two days) I mean it’s high enough and usually people only get to that high or in 200,000 sometimes not even that high during pregnancy, it all depends on each woman and each pregnancy. Also hoping there’s a HB. I still feel pregnant, I have no cramping or bleeding. I know that sometimes you don’t have to have any, but I’ve been checking toilet all the time! Not even any brown discharge. I know being realistic is true but how many woman HCG don’t double or they just plateau sometimes? They don’t know because they don’t get regularly checked. I know in early pregnancy it needs to double every 2-3 days, my pregnancy was doing that and it only slowed down after I got in the 10 thousands. How many woman don’t know that their little one doesn’t have a heart beat at 7 weeks because they had their first scan at 10 weeks and seen a baby with a heart beat? This is unfortunately a waiting game as I got checked super super early and kept getting regular blood tests all the time.

I’ve no advice as I’ve always seen a heartbeat early on except the times I miscarried, but keeping everything crossed for you as I know it’s far more common to not see an early heartbeat.

If you’re out by only a day or 2 with your dates then that can have a huge impact on what you see.

Sending you lots of luck with your next scan!

KarinaWhyte · 17/08/2021 20:41

@Moominmiss my next scan is at 2:30pm (Australian time) so in 9 hours! Wish me luck xx I’ll keep everyone updated. I hope it’s good news but preparing for the worst. Come on baby, grow for me!!!!

I've been watching this thread, our scan is next week. I've got everything crossed for you. All the best.

KarinaWhyte · 17/08/2021 21:22

@Geluksvogel I’ll keep you updated! How many weeks are you?

OP posts:
Geluksvogel · 17/08/2021 21:33

@KarinaWhyte - 6w 1d so still early days. IVF so the first scan is to check for multiples and placement. With DD we went at 5w 5d and there was heartbeat which was a huge lift after a miscarriage before. We went this time at the same stage as no heartbeat so back on Monday. I'm really hoping you defy the odds and get to see a heartbeat. It's such a horrible time being stuck in limbo. Trying not to hope too much but still hoping. Such a head f**k. All the best I have everything crossed for you.

KarinaWhyte · 17/08/2021 22:23

The wait is the worst @Geluksvogel I can’t explain how anxious I’ve been the last week. Right now my anxiety is so high I’m like having small panic attacks every now and then. I just it to go quick and hopefully see a miracle, but I’m also preparing for the worst as I’ve said multiple times. Let’s pray for me please 💕💕
