Hi, currently 5 weeks pregnant and a paranoid mess thanks to 2 previous miscarriages. First was a MMC.
I can't say I have any symptoms. I thought I was weeing more before my period and could smell things slightly more but now I don't really feel like I have any symptoms.
I'm taking baby aspirin and progesterone and have an early scan booked in for 16th august with EPU.
I guess I'm seeking some reassurance that people have gone onto have successful scans/ pregnancies when not feeling pregnant as such??

@Dani0507 sorry to hear of your losses but congratulations on your pregnancy. It is definitely a worrying time but hopefully things will go smoothly this time.
I find Mumsnet is the best place to ask any questions or come to when you are a little worried, as people comment on their experiences rather than worrying yourself even more googling!
From posts on here I've read as well as the helpful comments on this post, symptoms come and go or some people don't have them at all.
So try and keep positive.
Have you spoken to EPU?

Dani0507 · 09/08/2021 18:08

@LadyBird2020 no I havnt spoken to epu I just feel like they will tell me to wait and see last time I spoke to someone on the phone at a hospital they were really awful and spoke to me as if I was stupid so it's put me off, not really sure who my local epu would be, the last department I spoke to at the hospital began with an A not sure what it was call tho... ive done 6 tests since last Wednesday which are all still positive and stronger if anything just to make sure the lines hadn't faded xx

LadyBird2020 · 09/08/2021 18:19

@Dani0507 I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with your EPU.
I am sure you can self refer to most EPUs. It might be worth speaking to your GP to see if they can refer you or look on your local hospital website.
I am based in Essex and we can complete a form online to register for midwifery services. You can state on the form that you don't know dates and they normally get you in for bloods or a scan. A friend of mine was in the same position.
They look very clear! :) definitely a positive!! X

@LadyBird2020 I will have a look online see if I can use a different local hospital thanks for your advice xx

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/08/2021 20:42

@LadyBird2020 I was SO sure that I would - I'm really impatient and I like to know things Grin but DH doesn't want to know. I struggled with it a bit around 16 weeks - especially because we went for a private scan at 17 weeks because I'd had the Covid jab, and they offered to write it down for us - but I'm okay with not knowing now.

I feel really strongly that it's a boy, but I know some people have a strong feeling and it's still wrong, so I'm trying to be cautious and buy neutral stuff!

Chanel05 · 09/08/2021 20:56

Congratulations! Sorry for your loss too Thanks. Symptoms or lack of are not a sign of anything. I also had a mmc and my morning sickness, fatigue and sore breasts never went until I woke up from surgical management at 12 weeks, having lost the baby at 9.

I truly understand your fears of pregnancy after mmc and I can't say I ever truly relaxed at a scan, even when I could feel my daughter move but please be kind to yourself.

magicalmama · 09/08/2021 21:21

I'm in the second trimester, and apart from missed periods and now a sticking out tummy (which showed no detectable change for the whole first trimester) I have no symptoms at all.

I can't feel a thing, no soreness, no appetite change, no sickness, nothing. But they show me on the scans a healthy, wriggling foetus, a strong heartbeat and have told me that all is well and as expectedSmile

I hope this is reassuring to you. You definitely don't need symptoms for it to be a healthy pregnancy.

lindsay2879 · 09/08/2021 21:41

@LadyBird2020 hi just after reading this post, if your 5wks I'm guessing you're due in April? Come and join us on the Due April 22 chat, we're all about the same stage as you, I'm currently 5+3. It's a lovely group and most of us have experienced mcs too, so totally understand how you're feeling. We also have a Facebook group set up which you're more than welcome to join too x x x

senoritarita · 09/08/2021 21:44

I remember this! I wished and prayed for sickness and used to pummel my breasts to see if they were sensitive!

I never had any symptoms at all! Good luck 🤞

LadyBird2020 · 09/08/2021 21:48

@TakeYourFinalPosition me and my boyfriend have both agreed we will find out. I am set for a boy, I know the outfits and room decor, name etc that I would want so if we were to have a girl, we would need be I re think everything 🤣

@Chanel05 thank you so much for your message. Sorry to hear of your loss but congratulations on your baby!
Very true words. I had my symptoms up until the day of my surgical management and didn't bleed until that very morning.
It's just the not knowing is so hard to deal with but will try and be positive and hope for the best. Xx

@magicalmama that is so so nice to hear. I am so happy your pregnancy is going well and thank you for taking the time to message and reassure me. I really do appreciate it! X

LadyBird2020 · 09/08/2021 21:51

@lindsay2879 thank you! I think I did add a message to that post. I am still getting used to this app, so will have a scroll through and check.
I will be due around the 9th or 10th April so would be nice to be in contact with people going through the same thing and at the same stage. Thank you xx

OP posts:
LadyBird2020 · 09/08/2021 21:53

@senoritarita thank you. I keep prodding and poking to see if they feel any different but nothing. They hurt more when I was due on previously and my period actually arrived than they do now.
As I feel different to the last two times, I am hoping that's a good sign for me. 🤞🏼 x

I could have written this post a few weeks ago. I have had no symptoms at all and was convinced that something must be wrong. I'm now 11 weeks and went to my dating scan on Monday. I asked the sonographer to tell me quickly if there was a heartbeat because I was so terrified. There was a perfect little baby doing somersaults. Honestly I couldn't believe it. I hope it's the same for you (and anyone else who is frantically googling "pregnant no symptoms" like I was).

LadyBird2020 · 11/08/2021 22:01

@Incywinceyspider thank you so much for such a positive post! It is great to hear, so reassuring and I am so happy for you that everything was ok ❤️ x

30 wks pregnant here and still haven’t had any pregnancy symptoms other than tiredness and general discomfort now the bump is growing... and lovely baby kicks and movement of course. Smile

In the first trimester I remember being annoyed/worried that I hadn’t had any sickness, and that I didn’t go off any foods or have any cravings etc because I really wanted to feel pregnant.... now I’m just grateful because I’ve actually been able to really enjoy my pregnancy without feeling ill for the whole 9 months.

Good luck and congratulations! Flowers

LadyBird2020 · 12/08/2021 08:06

@Riverrushing21 thank you so much for your message. It really is comforting to know you have had a successful pregnancy with no usual symptoms.
I hope i am the same as you.
I hope your labour goes smoothly and congratulations on your little bundle xx

vincettenoir · 12/08/2021 08:20

Congratulations. I think most women don’t have any symptoms at that stage, I didn’t. That’s why I am always bemused by women who say they could tell they were pregnant before their period was due. I think most of them are kidding themselves.

LadyBird2020 · 12/08/2021 10:27

@vincettenoir I believe symptoms are not usually noticed very early on although some people have them.
My sister was very nauseous from about 5 weeks but then every woman and every pregnancy is different.
I think symptoms are spoken about so much it is worrying to feel like you don't have any but is very reassuring to hear stories from women who have had babies and no symptoms. C

@farmhouseloving I had my 6 week scan yesterday and got to see a little heartbeat ❤️ it was the best feeling in the world!
I'm going back in two weeks for another early scan. Can't wait to see it again 🤞🏼💕 thank you for all your calming and reassuring words x

peanutmm · 17/08/2021 14:19

@LadyBird2020 that's great! I'm currently around 5 weeks I think. With my first I didn't get symptoms until around 10-11 weeks, with my miscarriage I had symptoms from the beginning so strangely for me I'm more concerned if I do have severe symptoms right away! This thread is making me feel more positive though.

Did you go privately for an early scan?

LadyBird2020 · 17/08/2021 14:24

@peanutmm I was exactly the same. When I had the miscarriages, I did have symptoms straight away.
This time, I have been feeling absolutely fine and myself. Getting a little tired and bloated but also on progesterone which I think can happen.

No, the scan was at the EPU at our local NHS hospital. My consultant referred me when he found out I was pregnant. So had my 6 week scan yesterday which was measuring 6 weeks and 6 days and then have an 8 week scan on the 1st Sept. x

I'm 13+2 today, and still haven't had any symptoms. No nausea, no sickness, literally nothing, other than feeling a little bit more tired than usual.

I've had lots of scans so far and everything is absolutely fine, heart beat of 172.

I've struggled with the no symptoms too, it causes so much anxiety doesn't it! X
