Think ours is on the way - getting contractions since yesterday evening and sickness. Probably head into hospital soon if DH wakes up!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 01/08/2021 03:53

Exciting @Pinkroseuk! When was your due date?

OP posts:

Looks like I’ll be having an august baby, was due the 30th and still no sign 😫

Warrickdaviesasplates · 01/08/2021 11:45

@Pinkroseuk good luck! Hopefully everything runs smoothly for you.

@Pinkprinny fingers crossed your little one gets a wiggle on soon, the waiting around for them to show up feels like an eternity doesn't it.

Pinkroseuk · 02/08/2021 00:44

Thankyou all - our little girl joined us at 5.27pm 1st august after a fairly swift labour and an even quicker exit! Currently in for obs as waters were broken over 24 hours.

Flittingaboutagain · 02/08/2021 02:48

Congratulations hope you're both well

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 02/08/2021 08:23

Congrats @Pinkroseuk

Just an update from me... I went in Saturday at 4pm for my dilapan induction. Was examined at 5pm and still 1cm and cervix soft. Had 4 rods inserted. After being awake alllll night the hospital was soo hot had my waters broken at 6am was now only 2cm. Was left for 4hrs to see if anything happened. Was then allowed DP in at 10am as we were moved to a delivery room for a drip induction. From having that set up at around 11 to 2pm nothing much was happening but it wasn't in my hand properly so they kept ramping it up thinking oh nothings happening but it wasn't getting into my system properly! They changed hands at 2pm and then by god the contractions were thick and fast. Was examined at 5.30ish and was only 4cm but the pressure and no breather meant they slowed the drip down. Ended up asking for epidural which then didn't work (just my luck) begged for a c section was told no lol our little boy was born at 6.47pm after 20 mins of pushing. No stitches weighed 7lb 11 so all the talk of this whopping big baby was for nothing! We were discharged at 1am this morn. Labour was 4hrs in total from first pain to delivery.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 02/08/2021 10:30

Congrats @Vie8126!

Congratulations @Vie8126

Sorry that the induction sounds like it didn't go as smoothly as you'd like, but I'm glad you're both doing well and your little chap is here safe and sound.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 02/08/2021 20:47

How many July ladies do we have still waiting?

OP posts:
Flittingaboutagain · 02/08/2021 22:53

Anyone have any tips for dealing with nipple vasospasm?

Vie8126 · 03/08/2021 11:39

Thanks all! It wasn't exactly my planned birth but then I didn't really have a plan as have learnt it never works like that. We're both here safe and soundly and I was home the same day with no stitches etc so I'll take that as a win :)

Little one isn't a great feeder (bottles) and has a slight tongue tie feel like I'm having to force him to have milk and he hardly drinks it. Midwife said see how he goes by Friday when they come back to see us and weigh him etc. Anyone have any experience of tongue tie?

Flittingaboutagain · 03/08/2021 12:00

That definitely sounds like a win!

I have an appointment for tongue tie coming up. They don't always impact on feeding. My little one is gaining weight nicely but the tongue tie makes it painful all the same, hence going for an assessment to see whether a release will help. A good practitioner will assess and not offer the procedure unless there is a clinical need for you and baby.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 03/08/2021 14:06

Slight tongue tie here too but no impact on feeding (6oz bottles @ 5 weeks)

What bottles are you using @Vie8126? A mw told me newborns can struggle with likes of tommee tippee, dr brown etc. She said to get a couple of the really cheap bottles incase as its easier for baby to get the milk out. Tesco do a pack of 3 for about £3 but we have been ok with TT

Flittingaboutagain · 03/08/2021 14:35

It's also really common to feel like you are forcing milk down to a sleeping newborn (breast or bottle or cup feed)

Pinkprinny · 03/08/2021 16:58

I am still waiting 🤦🏼‍♀️ Have an induction booked for the 11th

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 03/08/2021 20:15

11th is my 6 week check up Shock bless you waiting so long!

Pinkprinny · 03/08/2021 21:02

I think I’ll be one of the very last ones to have baby 😂 done so much walking since Friday and had a spicy meal and long walk today! Not to mention a whole bottle of clary sage used already

Vie8126 · 04/08/2021 07:00

Thanks all with the tongue tie help. He is being assessed again Friday so will see what they say then.
@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I was using the hospital pack bottles with ready milk screw on teat and yesterday changed to the tommee tippee bottles instead and he seems much easier to feed. He is having 2 to 3 oz and I'm not having to force him. The milk definitely seems to flow a bit quicker for him. The midwife did say about moving up a test flow but that would be far too quick for him. Will keep in mind re the tesco bottles.
