Lilrach657 · 29/07/2021 09:59

I'm just looking some reassurance until my midwife calls me back, I had my first covid jab (pfizer) yesterday and since I havnt felt my normaly active baby move I'm hoping it's just a coincidence I've used my dappled her heartbeat is still there but for me it's not normal how quiet she has been. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm 29 weeks pregnant

Got get checked out now, you really shouldn't rely on home dopplers and any change out of your normal pattern you must get checked.

5zeds · 29/07/2021 10:03

Drink some orange juice and lie down. The taste and calories usually makes them wriggle

toughdaay · 29/07/2021 10:05

Covid jab is irrelevant here. The point is you haven't felt your baby move as normal. So drink some orange and see if you feel movements. If not or they're less then contact your midwife

cheesepizza22 · 29/07/2021 10:06

Ring your maternity unit ASAP. please do not rely or use home Dopplers, they're not reliable at all.

PerfectPrepPrincess · 29/07/2021 10:06

Eat something sugary like a Mars bar and lie down.
Will it respond to a little gentle prod /wiggle of the belly?
Sometimes mine always moved when in the bath xx

YelloYelloYello · 29/07/2021 10:06

Please don’t rely on dopplers.
From Tommy:
‘When using a hand held doppler it is possible for there to be some confusion with the mother’s own heartbeat and pulsing of the placenta which can be doubled to sound like the baby’s heartbeat. This means that when you listen in, you may not be hearing the baby’s heartbeat at all and can be falsely reassured.’

Do something that usually makes her move and chase up the midwife.

ItsSnowJokes · 29/07/2021 10:07

Go and get checked out NOW! Don't wait for your midwife to call, just go in and get checked. Home dopplers should be banned the most dangerous piece of equipment.

lightand · 29/07/2021 10:08

See a doctor ASAP

20viona · 29/07/2021 10:08

Forget the jab. Call maternity assessment unit now and get checked.

Justgettingbye · 29/07/2021 10:09

Don't do dopplers even if you've an heat a heartbeat there is more to it.

Please get checked. I used to eat something sugary and lie down

Justgettingbye · 29/07/2021 10:10

Meant to say even if you hear a heartbeat

MiamiPants · 29/07/2021 10:10

Yes please go and get checked.

I'm sure it'll be just like the times I went with mine and as soon as you have the monitor strapped on it'll be baby dance party time.

But so so much better safe than sorry. Xx

OliviaL9530 · 29/07/2021 10:12

I'd phone your midwife immediately.
I had this a few days ago and thankfully baby started to move after I had a hot (not too hot) bath and a cold drink. The two temperatures seemed to make her move but I still went in to antenatal day unit to make sure xx

LJC1234 · 29/07/2021 10:12

Please go to your MAU . Never wait they will want to check you

LimeRedBanana · 29/07/2021 10:12

Ignore the jab - but do get checked out.

I was further along than you, but felt reduced movements with DC1. Got checked out and was induced. All was fine. But please - do get checked out.

HerbErtlinger · 29/07/2021 10:15

Don't use a doppler. My son stopped moving at 31 weeks, went to get checked out, the midwife found the heartbeat straight away and I assumed all fine and I'd be on my way home. However I'm not a trained professional and the presence of a heartbeat did not mean all was OK and they delivered him within the hour, extremely poorly and not breathing. He's fine now but I am a passionate supported of #ditchthedoppler. I'm sure all is fine but get a trained professional to make sure

BrownRogerForever · 29/07/2021 10:17

Agree with most others, ring your maternity ward and go get checked out. Always trust your gut. Never feel silly or you are making a fuss, you are being a good parent and looking out for your baby.

Also home dopplers are notoriously unreliable and more importantly, we are not trained to use them or interpret the sounds.

Mseddy · 29/07/2021 10:22

Go to your maternity assessment unit. Please don't do all the "try this, try that". Even if they make your baby move the pattern is still different so you still need to be checked. Please don't delay yourself by having a bath or lying down

bumblebeebanana · 29/07/2021 10:30

ignore all the try drinking x y z crap. if your baby hasn’t moved in that long you need to go straight to the maternity assessment unit

KurtWilde · 29/07/2021 10:35

Everyone giving advice on drinking juice and lying down like OP won't already know to try these things or hasn't already tried it. OP please just give your maternity unit a call and they'll get you in for proper assessment.

Chelyanne · 29/07/2021 10:58

Don't waste time with community midwife when you have reduced movement. Always call the maternity assessment unit at hospital, they will have you in and put on the monitors to check on baby.

Lilrach657 · 29/07/2021 11:57

Thanks ladies for your quick replies😊 I've done all the drinking cold drinks and hot baths ect going up to get checked soon 🤞 she's just changed position or something.

How are things, op?

TheMumsyMumster · 29/07/2021 18:54

I know that many others have said it, @Lilrach657, but I'll say it again. Drink some orange juice, and failing that, get it checked out.

You can't take risks when it comes to this pregnancy business. Get checked out early, get checked out often, and get checked out in the event of something out of the ordinary.

If in doubt, get checked out.
Hope this helps!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/07/2021 18:56

Hope all is well OP x
