Hi!

I am in the process of finishing off my hospital bag - What size nappies did you put in your bag and also how many?

Thanks!

I used the first size and put a couple of packs in the bag, but one will probably be enough!

Soubriquet · 25/06/2021 14:47

Newborn and at least 10-20. If you need more, you can get someone to bring them in

Floopyandtired · 25/06/2021 15:04

Pampers size 1. Pack of 22.

BastardMonkfish · 25/06/2021 15:06

Pack of 22 size 1s here. Hopefully it'll be enough. The bounty lady will probably give me some (in exchange for my soul)

Dollywilde · 25/06/2021 15:07

I went with size 1, I knew I wouldn’t be having a baby small enough for 0. I took a new pack of 24, but I had DD during the pandemic with very limited visiting so I packed literally everything I could think of in case I couldn’t be brought extras.

Floopyandtired · 25/06/2021 15:22

@BastardMonkfish not to derail this thread, but you moved quickly with that username! I’m laughing out loud over here! I’m exhausted with a newborn and that’s brightened my day, thank you.

ivfgottwins · 25/06/2021 15:25

Id go wiith newborn size or first size - roughly use the estimated weight from your last scan and go with that - even if they are a bit big you can roll the top bit down a bit etc (I had premature twins in NICU so nappies were always too big)

Soubriquet · 25/06/2021 15:29

Ah preemie nappies. I had to go out and get them for ds…newborn nappies sat under his arm pits Grin

Had to get preemie nappies and clothing but he was slow growing so they did last. He wasn’t premature either

8dpwoah · 25/06/2021 15:30

Size ones for me, unless it looks like we'll need size 0 nearer the time. I think you'd have had a heads up if you were having a sub-3kg baby so size 1 should be fine for most. Although different brands have different weight cutoffs don't they so worth checking, but I'll be packing ones that cover the 3-4kg weight range however they're badged up.

AbstractHeart · 25/06/2021 15:40

Size 1s and don't forget to take plenty of wipes because they won't give you any at the hospital

Chelyanne · 25/06/2021 15:40

Size 1 has been fine for all ours, ranged from 7lb 7oz - 10lb 12oz. Got a little 24pk in my bag.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 25/06/2021 15:44

@AbstractHeart

Size 1s and don't forget to take plenty of wipes because they won't give you any at the hospital
Presumably they won't have any?? I've worked in a few maternity wards and it not usually a stock item
8dpwoah · 25/06/2021 15:53

Good point about wipes- seem to prefer you to use water and cotton wool but then getting water (and having a container) is a bit of a faff so I shall just pack water wipes this time and have done with it!

sarah13xx · 25/06/2021 16:47

I’ve got the pampers size 1s as well, did think I should maybe have got a small pack of size 0s just in case

sunshinecitrus1 · 25/06/2021 23:48

Thanks for the advice all, good point on the wipes definitely! I think I will put a pack in my bag just to make it easier Smile

I took a pack of Aldi size 1s. I found pampers size 1s massive and she was an average size baby at 7lb9oz.
As others have said, using water and cotton is a faff at the hospital (I found it particularly hard as I’d had a section so getting the water was difficult and I didn’t want to bother the midwives) so just take a pack of water wipes or equivalent.

ReassureMee · 26/06/2021 09:57

Aldi do their own version of water wipes! Fraction of the price. Also their size 1 ‘premium’ nappies are the best. Was very upset that they discontinued them in the larger sizes.

Dollywilde · 26/06/2021 10:02

Personally I hate water wipes. They’re far too wet in my opinion - which doesn’t sound like a problem until you realise you’re getting baby’s bum soaking which isn’t great, so you then need cotton wool pads or they’ve got a permanently damp bum which isn’t nice at all. Would definitely go Aldi for the wipes, but just a word of warning - the midwives on my post natal ward were super judgy about me using wipes on a newborn and were more than happy to provide water for me to use with cotton wool balls.

BastardMonkfish · 26/06/2021 12:26

Yes water wipes are very wet, you need to take a muslin especially for drying babies bum if you're using them.

Glad it gave you a laugh Grin

Soubriquet · 26/06/2021 13:12

I used pampers sensitive new born wipes. Never stopped. Used them even when they toddled about

The best wipes I’ve found. Good on sensitive skin and more importantly, no scent. Can’t stand scented wipes

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 26/06/2021 13:37

Newborn and about 20.

PurpleyBlue · 26/06/2021 13:38

0 and 1 in case baby is big. Someone can always drop them off if you need more.

sunshinecitrus1 · 26/06/2021 13:53

Size 0's and Size 1 nappies seem to be the way to go then plus some Pampers sensitive new born wipes just in case Smile thank you!
