I posted question few weeks ago. Now again posting it. Do baby have lazy days and active one. I have been to triage and DAU 9 times. Everytime it's fine. I am struggling with baby movements. It's giving me so much anxiety i can't sleep at night. There is always fear of losing him.i had 4 extra scan everything fine. Under consultant care. Again have scan after a week just had scan on last wed. Everything was fine. Please share your experience.

I hardly felt any movement with my first, it never worried me because that was just how she was.
My second one, I had one weekend of little movement. Had a midwife appointment on the Monday, so didn't do anything about it because I knew I was seeing her. She did admonish my laissez-faire attitude.

I am very much a what will be will be kind of person, which also makes me not worry about things I cannot change.

Have you seen the GP about your anxiety? Or spoken to your midwife about it?
How many weeks along are you?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 25/04/2021 09:56

Well what has your consultant told you? As I’m sure they’re going to be able to reassure you more than randoms on the internet that won’t have been monitoring you. If you have posted the question before what answers are you hoping for now?

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 10:01

There are days he is extremely active and there are days he is not so active. I just wanted to know am I the only one. Or baby normally behave like this. This is my first pregnancy i don't know much.

@NiceTwin yes they are aware of my anxiety. My baby is not quite one. He is very active one but since 2 days he is moving but not like himself.

@Coxobaby Do you know what position your placenta is? Mine is anterior and I have also really struggled with seemingly active followed by quiet days. I’ve been monitored a lot as a result, and my view is that (for me anyway) it’s better to just go in and get monitored rather than wasting hours worrying about what to do. I really sympathise with your anxiety, as I struggled with this too. It is worth speaking to your GP, but if being monitored a lot is also what it takes then that is just what you need. My hospital even suggested the possibility of once a week monitoring due to my anxiety - I didn’t have to in the end because movement became more noticeable after 30 weeks (though even then I have had one scare since then), so maybe that’s something you can look into. Thinking of you.

Snally82 · 25/04/2021 10:05

It’s a very anxious time (I’m 32 weeks) but I do think you’re on the more extreme side in terms of worry and maybe need a little help/support to deal with it. I’d speak to your midwife or GP xx

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 10:06

@AKM89 I am 36+2. He is very big so even with anterior placenta it's impossible to miss movements. Yes i have ctg booked on wed. But still wondering if everything okay. If that's his normal therr are horrendous stories on internet. Which makes anxiety worse and i can't live normal life anymore.

It’s not clear how many weeks pregnant you are OP, you say ‘not quite one’?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 25/04/2021 10:08

Sorry, cross post.

For god’s sake don’t read any more horror stories on the internet, how will it help at all, they are totally different pregnancies to yours.

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 10:08

@SmidgenofaPigeon quite not a right word I would say but yes definitely lazy i would say.

Tinkling · 25/04/2021 10:08

My first was a lazy baby, ended up in triage twice and the second time I was post dates so admitted for induction (although I never ended up being induced, my waters went shortly after and went into labour spontaneously).

My friend had what you’re experiencing with her second. She was admitted overnight a few times and had daily monitoring. In the end she was induced early.

ElderMillennial · 25/04/2021 10:11

I think it is normal for babies to have active days and lazy days but unfortunately it is impossible to tell whether baby is having a lazy day or there is just something wrong so if in doubt just go in to get checked. Not long to go for you now 🤞

dottiedaisee · 25/04/2021 10:14

I do understand your anxiety. I never used to feel my daughter kicking and I was never told I had an anterior placenta. She is now late 20s but the anxiety was absolutely awful.
My daughter had an anterior placenta with her pregnancy and had reassuring CCT monitoring and weekly scans .
The baby was induced at 38 weeks and absolutely everything was fine .💐

gretagreengrapes · 25/04/2021 10:22

I'm 41 weeks pregnant and baby's movements have NEVER had a pattern, nor have they been that often. I've been for monitoring more times than I can remember, and baby has always been fine. Even if you need to go up every day, do! This is what the doctors and midwives told me and its never been a problem. Just go with your gut instinct. I have an anterior placenta plus a small baby so I think it's a combo of that.

I was offered an earlier induction but because baby was fine on monitoring I declined.

It is all individual to YOU and your pregnancy.

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 10:23

@gretagreengrapes do you also feel. Some days they are active in morning and others days at different times.? Is your baby move some days more than others?

OP posts:
Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 11:58

@gretagreengrapes please answer.

OP posts:
Tinkling · 25/04/2021 12:22

My babies were never in a pattern that I could discern.

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 12:26

@Tinkling then how do you manage to monitor?

OP posts:
Tinkling · 25/04/2021 12:41

My second baby was a wriggler. Never really went quiet so I didn’t need to worry.

With my first... I don’t know really. I gained a lot weight eating sugary food to get them moving! And I had my own Doppler to reassure myself (I have since learnt that this was the wrong thing to do, because a heart rate doesn’t mean baby is ok).

When my first was quiet for too long despite prodding and sugar, that’s when I’d go to triage. Thankfully it was only twice when really quiet

wombatspoopcubes · 25/04/2021 13:12

Mine was getting lazier towards the end and I went in a couple of times for reduced movements. The consultant told me that I could call for reduced movements whenever and should never feel judged for doing so, she said she would much rather look at a healthy moving baby every day than me not going in one time and them missing a problem. DD was born healthy (induced for other reasons at 38 weeks).

So ask your consultant when they think that you should call and what to look out for.

wombatspoopcubes · 25/04/2021 13:13

I would like to add to that that it was a very high risk pregnancy, so everyone was a bit more cautious than normal maybe.

Theobear88 · 25/04/2021 13:20

Sometimes babies move lots and other times they don’t. The same as any other living thing

Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 13:54

@wombatspoopcubes yes I am also under consultant led care. I have been recently diagnosed with GD but i am under consultant because of reduce movements. She give me plan to come every other week for ctg and next for scan. If i am still not happy with movements until 38week. They will induce me.

OP posts:
Coxobaby · 25/04/2021 13:55

@Theobear88 yes i am aware of it. But somedays whole day is lazy and other days whole day is very active. So it's difficult to know what's normal.

That is normal according to my experiences and the experiences of all my family and friends who have ever been pregnant!
