The thing I find hardest about baby movements is that you are solely responsible for them... noone can tell you what is normal for you or not. And that is incredibly hard.
I am 28 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and have been to triage twice across all 3 (once when baby was actually moving too much but I had just had some scary news about the baby).
I have now realised that all 3 of my babies have a certain position where I cannot feel a thing no matter how much they move. I quite often can go all day and think I've not felt anything, the trigger for me would be in the evening when I sit down. If I didn't feel anything then (when baby always has at least one active period) then I'd phone triage.
Other days the baby is bouncing around all day.
So I'd say that my normal is definitely to have some active and some lazy days. I don't monitor hour to hour, I consider the day as a whole. As long as she has a bouncy period I know she is okay.
For me, personally, I would only go to triage if I didn't feel her at all all day or if I could feel some movements but they were extremely lethargic compared to normal.
I am one of those people who's first thought is am I wasting someones time. Equally I'd be wasting my own since traige is a 2 hour round trip and I have 2 DC that would need looking after if DH was working away. I find that helps to keep me balanced in the face of the worry that we all face when pregnant.
