What was your babies NT measurement?

Hey everyone, I had my 12 week scan last Thursday and got a 2mm measurement for the nuchal translucency at the back of the neck. I was dated at 12+1. I am now waiting for blood results later this week, hoping everything will be fine.

Everything appeared normal on the scan and I know 2mm is good but then I read it will get bigger, so as I was measured at exactly 12 weeks, if it had been measured at say 13+5 would it be bigger and in the danger zone? Or can it not change that much?

Maybe I’m over thinking this! But wondered if any of you would like to share what your babies measurement was, and what your bloods and chance came back as, and if you have had your baby was everything ok?

Thanks 😊

That is a perfectly good and normal result.

My first child was 1.8mm, I was 27 and my result was 1in30,000. Baby was fine.

My second child was 2.2mm, I was 34 and my result was 1in8000. Baby was fine.

Im currently pregnant (26w) with my third child. I'm 39. Measurement was over 3mm. My result was 1in900. I've had a Harmony test and the result was 1in10,000. No concerns on scans so far

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 09:03

@WalkingMeAway thank you! Glad to hear yours were all good including your most recent one ❤️

I literally just freak out about everything while I’m waiting for the bloods. We’ve told our parents and my mum has already told some of her friends and I’m like please can you wait for the blood results!!! They didn’t used to do the combined screening when she had me so I don’t think she fully gets what it means and just assumes everything is going to be fine.

I probably need to have a more positive outlook! Baby looked perfect on our scan 😊 xx

Hey @Cafeaulait27! We spoke on another thread, my scan is tomorrow. Wanted to ask (since my midwife wasn’t clear and I been able to get hold of anyone over the BH) did they take blood at the Scan appointment for the combined test, or did they use your booking bloods? Thanks, and wishing you luck. Obviously I’m no expert but from everything I’ve read 2mm seems like a healthy result to me.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 09:17

Hey I remember you @TomatoSoup69!

Yea they took my blood after the scan. The sonographer did a really thorough check of the baby (it was amazing) and then told us to sit in a specific place and wait to be called for bloods.

The midwife who did the bloods was lovely and explained it all to me and how long results would take etc.

Huge luck for your scan!! I’m sure you’ll have an amazing experience as I did 🍀❤️

Thanks! Think of me, please, I am bricking it.

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 05/04/2021 09:19

Mine was 1.1, but I think anything under 3 is classed as normal range for the first trimester ? X

Chelyanne · 05/04/2021 09:21

1.8 and 1 in over 17k chance ds, 1 in 100k chance P&E @ 36 years old
I don't remember our other childrens measurement that had it other than the younger of our twins was on the high side, all had no more chance than current one and all born healthy.

PineappleSun · 05/04/2021 09:22

@TomatoSoup69 they take more bloods at your 12 week scan appointment. I had my scan at 13+6 and was then shuttled off for the bloods. My scan was a Friday, got the results by post the following Thursday.

NT - 1.5mm I wonder if this is a bit low for nearly 14 weeks..
DS - 1 in 5500
Edward's & Patau's - 1 in 10,000

I'm 15+2 now and moved on to worrying about the 20 week scan instead.

FTEngineerM · 05/04/2021 09:22

1.7mm

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 09:34

@PineappleSun I think the NT disappears after 14 weeks so having a low one towards the end is probably a really good thing!

I wonder if 12 weeks is sort of the peak as it’s kind of in the middle of the window, and it actually decreases after say 13 weeks? Just guessing though really!

Your chances all sound really good, hope I get something like that. I’m worried about 20 week scan too, thinking I might book a private one for 16 weeks Xx

@TomatoSoup69 please update us! What time is your scan at? Sending you lucky vibes 🍀🤞

2.7

He's fine

Moominmiss · 05/04/2021 09:51

Perfectly normal and within range. I had my nt measurement done at 13+4 and it was 2.1.

I had a nipt test done at the same date which gave us a result of 1:100,000 for everything.

SunnySideUp2020 · 05/04/2021 10:08

Mine was done at 12w4 and was 1.00 mm

doadeer · 05/04/2021 10:09

4.8mm we had CVS and everything ended up being fine but we had two weeks of hell

aurora2021 · 05/04/2021 10:49

1.9mm at 13+4

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 11:15

@doadeer wow so pleased for you that everything ended up ok! That must’ve been such a worry xxx

@Moominmiss amazing NIPT result, that must be so reassuring!

OP posts:
Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 17:35

Think I’ve just freaked myself out again after doing an online calculator which tells you if the NT is high based on CR length.

It says my length of 55mm should have a NT of more like 1.53mm, but mine is 2. So it said it’s on the 89th centile. 😔

Really hope those results don’t take too long as I think I’m driving myself mad!

My first pregnancy it was quite high in my eyes, 2.4mm. I was 30yo and my combined risk was 1:600. I had NIPT which came with the lowest risk score, I believe it's 1:10000. My daughter is not only absolutely fine, but very bright for her age! My second, current pregnancy at 33 it was 1.6mm with a risk score of 1:1500. Had NIPT anyway, came with the lowest risk again. I understand your worry, I'm also anxious. Pregnancy is so stressful Flowers

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 18:02

@Smurftastic thank you, I’m considering NIPT as well now even if this comes back normal... glad to hear your girl is doing so well and was fine!

Do you remember how far along you were when you got the measurement of 2.4? X

OP posts:
Smurftastic · 05/04/2021 18:13

I don't remember how far I was, but I think it was between 12 and 13 weeks, perhaps something like 12+4 or 12+5. This time, with the lower measurement I was 13 weeks exactly, so further along. I did NIPT because I'm very anxious and can spare £400. Don't want to worry you but the NHS combines screening accuracy isn't the highest for under 35yo - it does detect most problems, but I just wanted to be extra sure. Now dreading the anomaly scan!

AuntVictoria · 05/04/2021 18:19

2.7mm for DS at 12 weeks, was given a 1 in 249 risk of Down Syndrome. Had the Harmony test, came back low risk and DS is fine.

It was 1.8mm for DD, 1 in 700 risk on the combined screening, also low risk on the Harmony and also fine.

I really recommend the Harmony test for peace of mind.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/04/2021 18:24

Thank you both @AuntVictoria and @Smurftastic ❤️❤️❤️

I am tempted by the harmony as I know it’s extremely accurate with its negative results for downs.

However I read recently it’s less accurate for edwards and pataus, and also that it can give a false positive for any of the tris more than people think which COULD mean having a CVS or amnio when it’s not actually needed.

I don’t know it’s so hard!

My trust does NIPT for free if results come back high chance which is amazing, and if there’s no increased risk you can pay for it for £350.

At first we thought we definitely would, then I thought no after I read about the accuracy and false positives, but now I’m leaning back to wanting to have it even if we get a low risk result.

£350 and if we get low risk it will hopefully help our peace of mind...

Thank you xxx

I've never understood nt measurements. They say anything under 3,5mm is normal so why the need for harmony cvs amnio etc?

sorry I'm not much help op it's just one thing that's always made me wonder. I can't remember any of my dc measurements,
