SunnySideUp2020 · 27/03/2021 17:19

First baby, 39 weeks today!
Terrified and excited at the same time.
Waiting for this little girl to make a move!

Had nothing that would suggest labour so far.
Never had a contraction (or BH), not lost mucus plug or any had any unusual pains...

Anyone want to wait with me???

Same boat here 40+2 and no baby! Was offered a sweep yesterday but declined. Have had a few nights of start / stop contractions and weirdly really really bad night sweats so I'm sure it's imminent. Need to keep moving but I'm so bloody tired I can't be bothered!

SunnySideUp2020 · 02/04/2021 10:09

@LuckyFlash
Mmmm baby isn't engaged but has ghe midwife confirmed it is head down?
I think some babies don't drop until labour.
Mine has been engaged for ages but it doesn't help anything!
Let's hope once your body gears up baby also comes down...
I don't think the MW can do anything. And if she didn't express concerns last time i would say you are ok. Are you doing the sweep on Thursday?

@chickensoup23
Well on and off ontractiond are definitely a start! And night sweats must be your hormones. Sounds like you are getting close 🙂

My MW advised me to rest as much as possible if i ever start having contractions 😁
So if you feel your body needs rest i wouldn't overdo it!

@MM321 haha thanks for the encouragement 😇

@Fleetw00d thanks for sharing!
Will try to use the breathing techniques to relax when she does it 😌

Fleetw00d · 02/04/2021 10:22

@SunnySideUp2020 good luck with it if you make it to then, the thought of it was definitely worse than the reality and it's over and done with before you know it. Get yourself some chocolate for after as you'll feel like you're on your period and want to have some yummy treats to hand!

@chickensoup23 I've also been having really bad night sweats the last two nights, think I've hit the latent phase of labour now which I know can last for days but at least is a sign that it's moving, hopefully the night sweats are a good sign for you! 😀

LuckyFlash · 02/04/2021 10:32

@SunnySideUp2020 yes he’s head down. Definitely going to go for the sweep next Thursday. Very ready for this baby to come now but need to remember to be patient

Fleetw00d · 03/04/2021 09:05

Hows everyone this morning? Any babies rocked up yet? Haha!
Been having irregular but painful contractions since 9ish last night all through the night, hoping it all ramps up today 🤞

SunnySideUp2020 · 03/04/2021 12:30

@Fleetw00d we had sex yesterday to help abd i had some painful cramps for like 5 hours. Then we went to bed and i asked him to give m3 a back massage as the pain was lower back mainly and it relaxed me completely and back to normal. Nothing!!!! Today is my due date. Nothing to report

How are you finding contractions?

OP posts:
Fleetw00d · 03/04/2021 12:41

@SunnySideUp2020 this whole stop and start is so hard isn't it. You get all mentally ready and then nothing haha.
They were pretty intense yesterday evening and throughout the night but have really eased off this morning and become quite spaced out and less painful so managed to catch up on some sleep. Apparently especially for first babies this can last for 3 days so I'm trying to just go with the flow and let my body do what it needs. The contractions just feel like period pain on steroids, but breathing through them really helped and if I was standing they were better, but there's a definite peak and it does feel amazing once it's passed.

SunnySideUp2020 · 03/04/2021 13:33

So i just lost some mucus plug...

OP posts:
Fleetw00d · 03/04/2021 13:50

@SunnySideUp2020 that's a good sign, hopefully if you make it to the sweep it will work well!

SunnySideUp2020 · 05/04/2021 07:51

@Fleetw00d how is it going this morning?

OP posts:
SunnySideUp2020 · 05/04/2021 07:54

@SnooperTrooper12345 ? @JTB123 ?
Anyone getting closer? 🙂

OP posts:
Ttwinksy · 05/04/2021 11:45

Am currently 39+5 and not had any signs whatsoever that anything will happen any time soon...thought I was getting some slight period-like pains yesterday afternoon but they've tailed off...
I'm so torn between wanting to meet my son and also just being a bit freaked out by the whole labour process and so hoping hoping he stays put a bit longer!! Blush

Good luck to all you who have signs things are moving! Get the feeling there'll be some bubbas on this thread v soon yay

JTB123 · 05/04/2021 23:00

@SunnySideUp2020
will be 40+2 in the morning, so over it!
No signs 😩 no plug, no extra discharge I've noticed! BHs have slowed down too 😂

Countdown to my first sweep on Thursday 🤞🏼

You ok? X

SunnySideUp2020 · 06/04/2021 05:45

@Ttwinksy ahh i understand but i came to the conclusion that the more they go overdue the fatter they get and the harder to birth 🥲😩
Not to freak you out more.
Half joking obviously. But our bodies will know what to do i am sure. Have you tried hypnobirthing books/classes?
For me researching the process in detail and reading the positive birth book really helped going from totally freaked out/denial to excited and confident.
No guarantee that it will go smooth but at least not starting from a place of fear!

@JTB123 same here. Apart from Saturday when i lost some plug absolutely nada.
Not a twinge not a single piece of discharge or anything...
Sweep and monitoring in an hour. Praying she is able to do something!
And 40w3 here so like you the despair is real 🙄

Sorry for the lack of update, been in a newborn bubble for the last week. DS arrived last Tuesday at 40+1, was a very long induction process they gave me the balloon to dilate my cervix on the Sunday night this was successful and fell out after 4 hours but I had to wait 24 hours to have my waters broken as they were so busy, which was hell as I had to keep going on the monitor and the baby would not play ball so spent 2/3 hours each time hooked up to the ctg machine which also seemed to give me intermittent contractions Hmm but once I was in established labour I had a great experience pushed for 5 minutes compared to 90 minutes first time around so much better than my first birth.

JTB123 · 06/04/2021 11:31

Currently sat on the assessment ward after some reduced movements this morning had me worried , monitored me for one hour when I noticed the tightening definitely ramping up!!
Sore lower back and what I think are contractions every now and again!

Waiting for the dr to see us as they like to induce you after 40 weeks if you have reduced movements apparently! Eeeek xx

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 06/04/2021 14:51

Congratulations @Pollypocket344 that’s lovely news.

I’m so fed up. This is completely new territory for me as DD1 was here by now. Seriously, if one more person texts me ‘any news?’ I’m going to throw my phone out of the window. I just want everyone to leave me alone.

I’ve been pregnant since June. I’m so fucked off and feel like I will never have a baby.

Sorry for ranting!!

SunnySideUp2020 · 06/04/2021 15:01

@SaveWaterDrinkGin

The harassment from people daily is insane.
It's like they take turns as well!
DH doesn't understand why it pisses me off so much.
Angry

@JTB123 hope this it for you!!!! Keep us posted x

@Pollypocket344 congratulations!!!!

Went for the sweep today. I am 1 to 2cm dilated but cervix still long but soft.
She did the sweep but haven't felt anything and nothing happening... weird.
Back on Thursday for another one

This is a stupid question but do real contractions start off with an obvious bang or do they start mild and ramp up?
I’ve had a few tightenings along with some mild pain. Definitely nothing I would consider to be labour as I could still chat to DH through them. Wondering if that could be the start of them ramping up or whether it’s just BH and when the real ones come I’ll ‘know’

happytoday73 · 06/04/2021 17:41

@LuckyFlash... Can't tell, everyone's different.. I started mild and ramped up.. Stopped for a while and then started again.. Even in labour room stopped again... Had to be put on drip.. But stronger and longer generally with time

2nd labour.. Waters went with no contractions.. Within an hour we had hit the road as I was definitely in labour.. Absolutely no mistaking it even for someone walking past as I got into my car!

Fleetw00d · 10/04/2021 09:26

@SunnySideUp2020 thought I would update you all, it did indeed ramp up late on the 4th and was 5cm in hospital by midnight on the morning of the 5th! Was in labour for about 15 hours but her head was looking up and she was lying to the right so things just weren't progressing and I was exhausted. Managed for 15 hours with breathing and then gas and air but when it wasn't progressing but I was still contracting every minute or 2 I asked for an epidural, they could have tried a hormone drip and some more interventions but the dr said that regardless of what I tried a c section was looking like the most likely outcome. I decided to opt for it there and then and have it within my control and it was calm and baby was still happy. It was all very positive the team were great and the radio was on, all very chilled. Lost a fair bit of blood because I had been contracting for 3 days so had to stay in for 4 days, but baby girl all happy and healthy 😄

Wishing you ladies all the best, and i can assure you it will end and all feel like a distant memory when you are holding your babies ❤

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/04/2021 12:18

@Fleetw00d ohh congratulations!!!
Sounds like it didn't go to plan but ended up being a nice birth!
Enjoy the newborn bubble :)

I have my induction tuesday morning 🙂
