Anyone else around 39 weeks? Waiting ⏰🌈

First baby, 39 weeks today!
Terrified and excited at the same time.
Waiting for this little girl to make a move!

Had nothing that would suggest labour so far.
Never had a contraction (or BH), not lost mucus plug or any had any unusual pains...

Anyone want to wait with me???

39 weeks tomorrow here!
Same as OP, no signs, no misuse, no excess discharge and no BH (that I've noticed?!) at all!!

Had a growth scan yesterday and they couldn't even measure the head properly as it's so low down in my pelvis apparently! 😩 they don't sweep until 40 weeks either and my next midwife appointment isn't until 40+5!!!

So I'm going to try and get in the assessment centre for a sweep at 40+1 lol if I need one that is!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for some movement soon!!!

I've got a new mattress too and bought a waterproof bedsheet from Amazon to sleep on, my husband has got used to it now as it's very quiet!! So would recommend 👌🏼🤣

Thanks for that! Gives me a little hope :)
Are you having the sweep to avoid induction?
Did you ask for it?

My MW said she will only offer the sweep from 40w3 and only if cervix open enough...[/quote]
@SunnySideUp2020 I didn't ask for it and still not sure if I'll accept it, but she said that it's there as an option, and only if my cervix is open enough anyway I guess! At that point I'll be 40+6 and will probably try that in the hope that it works, I could then go in again a few days later if it doesn't and have another but if that doesn't work I'm looking at an induction when I hit 42 weeks, which I could decline as would like to avoid one if possible. I'm hoping she decides to come by herself over the next few days as I hate all this waiting around haha, it's just like when you're first pregnant and waiting for your period to be late so you can do a test haha!
The midwife said having sex is one of the best ways to naturally induce labour, and hand expressing colostrum if you're leaking already, ideally hand express then have sex immediately after haha!

But to be honest I think baby will come when they're ready regardless of what we do!Smile

38 weeks here. So tired. Got 3 days left until I finish work.

LuckyFlash · 27/03/2021 22:09

38 weeks here too and so uncomfortable I’m desperate for things to start moving but trying to manage expectations that it could be weeks yet. I’ve been having really bad constant back pain and a bit of period type cramping this week. A tiny bit of mucus plug loss too. But the head isn’t engaged yet so I think I’m still a while off. I’ve been offered a sweep at my next appointment which will be 39+4.

Jmommy · 28/03/2021 07:17

Hey! 39+1 today here as well! No signs of labor, apart from somewhat intensified Braxton Hicks, but that means nothing I guess. So ready to pop. My DC1 came at 40+2, so keeping hopes up something could happen next week. Optimistically thinking that the second would at least not come much later than the first Grin

Jmommy · 28/03/2021 09:18

@LuckyFlash The head doesn’t need to be engaged for labor to start. My first one wasn’t and that’s why I was instructed to lay down in case my water breaks, which did happen at home out of the blue at 40+1. Now this baby’s head isn’t engaged either, but it can happen only during labor.

Pollypocket344 · 28/03/2021 15:02

So after a crazy morning I’m currently sat on the ward waiting to be induced! Looks like I’ll have a due date baby after all 😀

SunnySideUp2020 · 28/03/2021 15:14

@Pollypocket344 ohh how exciting!!!!
Waters broke?? Contractions???
You will meet your little one so soon 💕

@Sexnotgender good luck with your last days of work! Very brave 👏

@Fleetw00d
I heard about having sex but omg it is such a chore right now...
I lost all my desire for it early on in pregnancy and now the discomfort just makes it really hard 😅😅😅
But realistically we should do it more often now to get things moving...

@SunnySideUp2020 100% really not what I feel like doing! Have had really bad pelvic girdle pain down there and feels like I've been sitting on a spin bike for 24 hours haha! Apparently it's the combo of actually having sex and also the chemical on semen softening the cervix.. lovely haha! Feeling miserable amd impatient though so it's worth a go 😂

JTB123 · 28/03/2021 22:54

@SunnySideUp2020

It's basically where you go at the maternity hospital for reduced movements and scans etc before you need to go to labour ward! x

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 01/04/2021 21:52

Any babies yet? Mine’s still not here yet!!

Fleetw00d · 01/04/2021 21:55

@SaveWaterDrinkGin still waiting too! 1 week overdue now, had a stretch and sweep yesterday and for a few hours had really bad cramps then it eased off, then had my bloody show this morning and no cramps all day until this evening. Hoping she's on her way 🤞 otherwise I'm likely having a balloon induction next week!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 01/04/2021 21:58

Oh good luck @Fleetw00d I hope this is it! Flowers

Fleetw00d · 01/04/2021 22:09

@SaveWaterDrinkGin thank you hope so too! How are you doing?

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 01/04/2021 22:11

Fed up of waiting and now the nerves are setting in, even though I’ve done this before. 39+5 so sweep next week for me x

JTB123 · 01/04/2021 22:23

Still nothing here either 😩 39+5 tomorrow, no cramps, no bloody show, no plug no nadaaaaaaa!
Midwife couldn't fit me in for my next appointment which is really annoying and I think quite unprofessional considering on my last appointment she didn't turn up and there was a temp who knew nothing about me 🤔 so I've got to see a midwife at the hospital at 40+4 and hopefully I can have a sweep done if no movement! 😩

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 01/04/2021 22:28

You can have a sweep from 40wks @JTB123 so should be fine but fingers crossed you don’t need it!

I just keep telling myself I had no signs until the night before with DD1. Had some period type pains and a weird feeling that was it. Lost my plug in the morning and she was born that evening at 40+1 after a super speedy labour. Waaahhhhh I hate this waiting!!!

SunnySideUp2020 · 02/04/2021 06:35

No baby for me either.
Due date is tomorrow...
Went for monitoring yesterday and although baby's HB and movements are good she said my uterus is sleeping. Not a single contraction or anything. She said "have a nice Easter" and see you on Tuesday for a sweep. She did say she will be "nasty" with the cervix if needed 😅 because i really don't want to be induced.

So yeah another one here with absolutely nothing happening. Just a big belly. I feel you @JTB123

And @SaveWaterDrinkGin !!!

Hopefully yours gets moving soon @Fleetw00d !
How was the sweep? Uncomfortable? Painful? Quick?

MM321 · 02/04/2021 06:50

Not currently pregnant - but I was in the same position as you all in November 😅 currently sitting holding my 5m old baby boy 🥰
The end of my pregnancy felt LONG but oh my gosh was it SO worth it when I saw his little squishy face 😭
Best of luck for safe and speedy deliveries, sad lots of healthy babies Flowers

Fleetw00d · 02/04/2021 06:51

@SunnySideUp2020 hoping so too! Been having irregular contractions all night so hoping I'm in the latent phase. Sweep was actually much better than I thought, I would say not as uncomfortable as a smear test because they just use fingers no speculum. The actual sensation of them sweeping is really weird but just feels like a really intense period cramp so not actually like a sharp pain or anything. If you can relax and practice hypnobirthing it will be over in about 30 seconds, I initially tensed so took about 40 seconds altogether but she wanted to do a full sweep which she was able to. For a few hours after I had really intense cramps and some spotting but just felt like day 1 of a period! Hopefully if yours doesn't come this weekend the sweep gets it going 🤞

LuckyFlash · 02/04/2021 09:27

Does anyone know if I should be concerned that baby isn’t engaged yet at 39w? He wasn’t at my last appointment a week ago and I haven’t noticed any difference so I presume he’s still not. I’m a FTM and everything I have read suggests he should have engaged weeks ago. My next MW appointment (and sweep) is not till next Thursday. Wondering if i should do anything? Call the midwife? Walking and bouncing on my ball doesn’t appear to be doing anything to help him move down
