How close to your due date did you give birth

I'm on my second cycle atm so if I was pregnant now I'd be due 3rd Dec. If I got pregnant next month I'd be due 27th Dec. I'm thinking of skipping next cycle as I really don't want the baby to have a Xmas birthday but I think I'm being stupid as I know someone whose birthday is then and she was due in April! Most people that I've spoken to haven't given birth near their due date so I'm jw how close to your due date did you give birth and would you try and avoid a Xmas baby?

Both of mine were two weeks late. My first was due 4th December and I was trying everything to get her out in November. She now has the 18th as her birthday. Exactly a week before the big day. It's not great but it took us 18months to get pregnant so no way would I have skipped a month.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 21/03/2021 17:42

DS1 exactly 1 week late

DS2 born on his due date but I was induced following 2 instances of reduced movement

IHateThinkingUpANewUsername · 21/03/2021 17:44

I would imagine 95%+ of babies are born within two weeks of their due date (either side).

PlanBea · 21/03/2021 18:06

Do you have any complicating factors to getting pregnant? Only 2nd month TTC if you don't have any health issues or if age is on your side I'd say skip if you'd prefer to avoid a Christmas baby. When I was two years in to TTC it's a completely different matter! But 84% of couples trying to have a baby conceive within 12 months so if you have time/health to skip a cycle I don't see why not

JumperooSue · 21/03/2021 19:28

10 days late and therefore a Christmas Eve baby. I never really gave a Christmas birthday much thought tbh. Skip it if you are that bothered about it but you could conceive on the next cycle, have a baby at 36 weeks and it be born at Christmas🤷🏼‍♀️

I personally absolutely love that she was born on Christmas Eve, it was the most amazing Christmas ever and getting home with my new baby Christmas Day, watching Christmas films by the tree was just the best feeling. They come when they are ready and I wasn’t prepared to stress myself out over it.

LondonSE · 21/03/2021 20:11

Both mine were full term, less than a week away from due date. But then again, my due dates based from the scans differed from due dates using the online calculators. I think you should skip a month if you want to avoid christmas, then at least you tried!

Arrierttyclock · 21/03/2021 21:09

Thank you for all your stories! Spoken to DH and he's on board now that we should skip a month to avoid a Xmas baby! Thansk all! Xx

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/03/2021 21:12

I was 10 days early with ds1 and ds3, and a week early with ds2.

simonthedog · 21/03/2021 21:13

4 week early and 5 weeks early!

GertiMJN · 21/03/2021 21:16

40 +6

3JsMa · 21/03/2021 21:20

My first DS,seen 3 different Drs who were doing scans and each of them gave different due dates(28th Dec,1st Jan&3rd Jan).My child chose to appear on the 1st of January.
2nd DC bang on the due date
3rd DC 37+5
4th DC 38+1

Dyra · 21/03/2021 22:56

37+1. All down to pre-eclampsia though. I'm convinced she would have been late otherwise.

In the same boat. I'm about to start my second cycle, and I had been considering taking a month off to avoid a December baby. I've decided that I won't be skipping this cycle. I have PCOS, and TTC DD took us 3 years, a boatload of Metformin, a touch of Thyroxine, and a solitary dose of Clomid. Tbh, I fully anticipate that I won't be able to ovulate without help. However, I still want to give it a couple of months trying "naturally" before turning to medication. If a miracle happens, so be it. Christmas is a good time for them to appear.

Wobbitcatcher · 21/03/2021 23:03

My first was 14 days overdue and my second was 13 days overdue. I may be part elephant ....

mamaduckbone · 22/03/2021 19:06

11 days late with both of mine!

Gatehouse77 · 22/03/2021 19:08

9 days early
3 days early
On due date

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/03/2021 19:11

40+5 and due date.

These were the 'scan' due dates... According to which I conceived DD1 via telephone as DH was in a different country.

ApplesPearsAndCrumble · 22/03/2021 19:13

Well I am a christmas baby. (3 weeks prem)

DS 1 40 weeks and 1 day

DS2 38 weeks and 1 day

Arrierttyclock · 23/03/2021 06:55

Fantastic news OP, congratulations and what a lovely (early!) Christmas gift that'll be 🤱💐

MsSquiz · 23/03/2021 07:16

When TTC, we also joked about not trying in March to avoid a December baby as all 3 of our nephews and nieces have birthdays within 10 day of Christmas Day...

DD's due date was 19th December and she arrived on the 18th!

Chanel05 · 23/03/2021 07:31

I gave birth at 40+2 according to my scan dates. When I know I conceived I actually gave birth at 40+1 having gone into labour on my due date.

Good luck! My birthday is between Xmas and New Year's Eve and I love it.

BlowDryRat · 23/03/2021 07:33

Congratulations OP! I'm a December baby Smile

In answer to your original question:

  • DC1 was induced 3 weeks early as I had pre-eclampsia
  • DC2 grudgingly arrived 2 weeks late, under threat of eviction the next day

Their energetic/chilled personalities are surprisingly similar to their birth styles!

Mishmased · 23/03/2021 07:51

@Arrierttyclock congrats! You could go early and baby will be born in November. Mine was due 13 Jan and born 24 Jan. My second was due 31st Jul and born 9 Aug and currently pregnant due may 29 but will be planned section a week earlier.

Roselilly36 · 23/03/2021 07:59

First DS the day before his due date, weighed 8lb 11oz
Second DS 10 days before his due date, 9lb 3oz
