Hi all!

I’ve seen such rave reviews about the Baby Bjorn bouncer. I’m struggling to see how it warrants the extra cost from a normal bouncer ?

Can anyone who has one let me know your thoughts ?

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’re looking for bouncers, we’ve recently updated our best baby bouncer page with lots of great options tried and tested by MNHQ and real parents, including info on the BabyBjorn bouncer, plus budget-friendly alternatives. We hope you find it useful.

Reasons it’s better than others

  1. 3 height settings whereas most have one.
  2. the highest setting is way more upright than others meaning older or nosy or reflux babies are happy in it, unlike flatter ones
  3. machine washable cover, easily removed
  4. foldable
  5. 2 and 3 above mean it’s also great for weaning if your baby isn’t great at sitting up (I had a prem baby who needed weaning before she could sit)
  6. washable ness means you can happily buy second hand
  7. when they get a bit older and bigger they can bounce it themselves

I used it for 2 kids and it was fantastic. Plus I sold it for over half the original price. They really hold their value.

Easy to clean, easy to store away flat (so can take in the car to others' houses etc)

Get one! Maybe even second hand?

I got one from John Lewis for about £75 at Christmas time, after my friend raved about them for their little one. I haven't had the baby so haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm feeling pretty pleased with my purchase hearing all these reviews!

I heard great reviews too, plus anecdotally from my sister. We have bought a second hand one from eBay. It looks perfect. Utterly clean, Undamaged/unmarked and a quarter of the price of new.
Some baby things can be second hand. We are getting a new mattress and a new car seat... much else can safely be second hand. It’s more environmentally friendly too.

sundowners have you seen the cover and how it comes off? It's like a heavy t-shirt - two layers of cotton that you slip over the metal frame. The cover can go through the washing machine, and once it's off there's no soft or padded elements left, just a metal frame and plastic base. I'm not a fan of second hand stuff but would have no problem at all with a second hand bouncer, when I might feel a bit weird about second hand clothes (which, let's face it, is completely irrational in itself).

Both of our babies loved it, although in fairness they never tried any others!

I mentioned my baby napping in it but it wasn’t prolonged naps. My ds had little naps in it when he was a newborn. But mostly it was basically used as somewhere safe for him - I’d pop him in it in the bathroom when I had a shower etc

I would never ever let my little one nap for prolonged periods. He only used our bouncer when I was there watching him, it came in handy as he got bigger and I could pop him in the bouncer with me in the kitchen whilst I pottered. The covers are removable and washable I even googled the instructions which are readily available on the website so in my eyes no difference to me washing it and putting it back on to the previous person I have bought the chair from, safety isn’t compromised I’m sure otherwise they wouldn’t sell them as washable.
