I am 7 weeks with #2 (third pregnancy) and never had MS before - feel like I'm constantly hungover or reading in the car and always hungry... don't know how to stop it (if I can). Not actually vomited yet, just feel dreadful!

Does anyone have any tips??

TIA x

Dry snacks (breadsticks, dry toast, ginger biscuits) and sipping water helped me with DD1. I found out yesterday I’m pregnant again and already have light nausea. It’s early days for me but so far I’ve had to snack on Pom bears and chopped apple to help with the nausea.

Amz6219 · 01/03/2021 13:43

Thanks @CaliRanch! I'm craving Pom Bears now :)

I feel like i'm eating constantly because I feel so nauseous otherwise! x

Nibbling on dry crackers all the time seems to be the only thing that helps. Also, avoiding anything that smells strongly too.

popcorndiva · 01/03/2021 14:55

Dry cornflakes was all I could manage for the first 12 weeks this time. I found that milk or dairy triggered my stomach so cut that out as well.

longtompot · 01/03/2021 15:01

I made sure I had some biscuits on my bedside table to eat as soon as I woke up. It sometimes helped stop me being sick, or feeling as bad.
My yd has ginger ale to help when she feels sick. Might be worth a try. But, yes, I also ate non stop as I felt hungry all the time.

idontlikealdi · 01/03/2021 15:03

McDonald's breakfast and go and see the go for anti emetics if it's really bad

allfurcoatnoknickers · 01/03/2021 15:43

Loads of water. I found that "fresh", cold foods were the only things i could eat, so water melon, cucumber, avocado, lettuce with lemon juice straight out of the fridge etc.

I went off dry food after an unfortunate incident with some popcorn...

bushhbb · 01/03/2021 15:47

Keep the window open because smells are a big part

Mine flares in the evening when I have to close the Windows in the evening and I get the smell of hot food

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 01/03/2021 15:48

I used to find lucozade really helpful. But sipping it slowly rather than gulping it down

BeeBear2019 · 01/03/2021 16:49

I was exactly the same - 12 weeks today and it is finally starting to ease, but not completely gone yet.
I also found dry foods helped - plain salted crisps were a life saver - especially salted hula hoops!
I also found cold fruit straight from the fridge was easy to stomach, as well as freezing cold smoothies.

I recently found caffeine free diet coke has helped too, wish I had found that earlier!!

Hope it passes for you soon - I had a pretty rough time and for a period I think I cried everyday! xx

I came on here to ask for tips too! 9 weeks with number 2 and finding the nausea exhausting. The only time I am don't feel like shit is in the morning. It starts around lunch and gets gradually worse until I am a wobbly mess and my husband has to help me get ready for bed :(

birdling · 01/03/2021 20:27

I found that sea sickness bands helped a bit. They didn't stop the nausea completely, but they took the edge off it.

sabrinathemiddleagewitch · 01/03/2021 20:33

Pure fruit tart/sharp icelollies were the only things I could cope with. Even water made me vom.

These were great, think they do lemon too.

Fresh air
Ice lollies
Rich tea biscuits
Salt and vinegar squares

GP has just given me Donperidone though and nausea and sickness is just constant (9+1)

How's everyone feeling now?

7 weeks-ish pregnant with second child. I had morning sickness first time round but this time it's on a whole different level, I've barely left my bed since last week.

Luckily my husband is working from home so able to do the nursery run. I had the end half of last week off as holiday, tried to work yesterday and have had to call in sick today because I have too many calls that I just can't sit through.

It's all day with no relief. Starting to wonder at what point a doctor might take me seriously and prescribe something

2021WillBeGreat · 09/03/2021 11:34

@zzzebra have you spoken to a gp?

I'm just over 7 weeks too and suffering constantly. I'm barely leaving my bed as everything makes me heave.

AmylooH2021 · 09/03/2021 11:40

Wondering if anyone has any advise on this...
I’m 13 weeks pregnant and my nausea still isn’t dying down. Everyone keeps saying it will ease off around 12 weeks but I feel it’s actually getting worse. I have tried literally everything from gingers biscuits before getting out of bed to sips of water, dry foods, salty foods, cold fruits etc I find myself reading advise daily but nothing seems to work. I’m sick almost daily, most of the time it’s not even sick it’s stomach acid and bursting blood vessels near my eyes as there’s nothing to throw up. It’s awful and can’t be good surely!

Has anyone had the same problem and any help with coping with it as I’m beginning to really struggle?

zzzebra · 09/03/2021 11:59

No I haven't. I was going to speak to my midwife at the booking in appointment next week. But I'm not sure I'm going to make it that far without a full in breakdown.

In my first pregnancy I found my GP really dismissive. He basically told me that it would go away by 12 weeks and if it didn't, or I couldn't keep liquids down, then call back.

I'm self employed, so every time I have to call in sick I don't get paid and it could affect my maternity leave entitlement. So stressful

AmylooH2021 · 09/03/2021 12:29

Yes I find the midwife didn’t really seem to care, I guess they must get it all the time so hard to differentiate between severe nausea and not I think I may try and speak to the doctor if it doesn’t ease of this week and it is getting to the point of not being able to drink much water etc. It’s horrible, I hope it doesn’t last this long for you to!

Choclover89 · 09/03/2021 13:31

Hi I feel so rubbish too Sad I'm somewhere between 11 and 12 weeks and I feel like I can't take it anymore!

@AmylooH2021 last time, my worst weeks were 10-14. I lost half a stone between weeks 12 and 13. I started to feel more human at 15 weeks and then actually started to have a life again at 16 weeks!

I'm just holding out for 15 weeks in the hope that it's the same as last time

Amz6219 · 09/03/2021 13:46

Still rubbish here! 8+2 and some hours I feel better (usually after crisps, bread or McDonald’s 😳) but generally rough!

I'm 14 weeks now and, touch wood, seem to be almost completely out of the woods, but I felt the exact same as you and it was MISERABLE. You have my sympathy.

The main turning point for me was being started on cyclizine - my GP was very nice and I didnt even have to ask, she suggested it. I took them 3 x a day between week 6 and 10.

Don't feel bad for seeking medication - it isn't just for people with hyperemesis, I rarely vomited but the nausea left me barely functioning. And what they prescribe is completely safe.

2021WillBeGreat · 09/03/2021 21:13

I am waiting for the next available appointment to speak to the GP. My nausea is worsening by the day, its now 24/7 and I'm struggling to get out of bed.

I'm holding out hope for some relief after 12 weeks - lets hope that's light at the end of the tunnel for us all.

Amz6219 · 10/03/2021 09:13

Spoke too soon... actually vomited this morning 🤢 feel dreadful. X

OP posts:
bushhbb · 10/03/2021 23:32

Same op, I just vomited first time with this pregnancy

It's working because you think it might happen again, but honestly it can be a bit of a relief too, so there's that

Anyway before long you'll forget what nausea was like and you'll be voting through!
