Changing bags

I'm just over 20weeks. And it's occurred to me I've not thought past day to day stuff for Labour/delivery/baby! So I was wondering:

Any recommendations on change bags ladies?!

This is #3 for me and I've had both ends of the spectrum in the past....

#1 bag was teeny and not much use at all (but we managed!)

#2 was a yummy mummy (yes, I was sucked into the marketing and I have to say: loved it!)

Is there any you ladies would recommend? Or that you've bought already? Or even any you'd avoid?!

TIA xxxx

I LOVE Ju Ju Be bags. It’s a bit of an obsession of mine.

Love all the film different prints, but especially the tokidoki prints.

Also love that all the bags are wipe clean and machine washable.

No idea what the word film is doing there lol

I really love the pacapods and have gone for one of those again this time.

I have four kids and this was my last change bag

I have it in unicorn print so I thiry will pass it on to my dd. It's got lots of pockets which I think is key to a decent change bag and big enough to keep a spare set of her brothers clothes in.

If you want something more grown up this has lots of pockets

Just have a vans backpack that has loads of pockets, have a changin mat from a previous bag and have a insulated bag to pop inside for bottles
Comfy to wear and suitable for Dh to use

What is the difference between a changing bag and any bag you just use as a bag for changing stuff? Is it just about getting more compartments, or do some have special features?

idontlikealdi · 21/02/2021 17:20

Get some kind of back pack, hands free, nice bag, job done.

peachypetite · 21/02/2021 17:33

Just got a cheap one from aldi which had a changing mat included, lots of pockets, compartments and was about £16! No need to pay crazy money.

DoubleHelix79 · 21/02/2021 17:36

I always just used normal bags / backpacks that had a good number of pockets. Changing mat from Amazon for about 10 quid that lasted ages and was really good. Never got the need to have special bags, especially expensive ones.

Thank you everyone!

I've seen the ju ju bags and I love the look of those.

I ended up using a plain/regular non-changing bag with dc1. But it didn't feel as practical as I'd hoped. And then with the yummy mummy it lasted so long and still looked new (as wipe clean etc). So although I don't want to spend a fortune I'm happy to spend a little extra to get some longevity out of it.

Thanks again for your posts everyone. Really appreciated. ☺️ xx

Can you not just use or get the second one again if you liked it so much? Seemed to tick your boxes.

I use either a leather backpack or the changing bag that came with my pram.

3scompany · 21/02/2021 19:02

@MaverickDanger I gifted it on! I wasn't planning a 3rd at the time. And I'm now pregnant 7 years later 😂

I've got a babymel Robyn for my son and love it. We did have a mamas and papas one but it was quite bulky. The Robyn is a backpack which is sooo much easier and looks a bit more trendy haha.

Moominmiss · 21/02/2021 19:06

@3scompany I don’t think there’s a jujube bag I don’t like.

My personal favourite to use as a changing bag is the hobobe. It has so many compartments, and I love the fact the inside of the bags is always a nice bright colour so it’s never like looking for something in a dark bottomless pit lol.

I’ve used jujube bags as my regular bags before too. They’re just lush. I always always got compliments on them. They’re so colourful and fun. Xx

I’ve bought a Carh Kidston backpack changing bag, I’m only 15 weeks pregnant so can’t say how useful it is but i love it! It has loads of compartments and is quite roomyr

Pacapod are fantastic

lightningpeach · 21/02/2021 19:51

I an loving my Storksak change bag, it was a brand I didn't know but it has exceeded expectations of a change bag! The quality is really good and although its not had as much use compared to the one I had for my first baby due to lockdown, it's still looks new after 9 months. Would definitely recommend.

Difficultusername · 21/02/2021 19:55

The skip hop changing bags are good- also worth checking on tk maxx as they often have them on offer. I have one in those shape but in a black marble pattern- I like how wide the opening folds out as is really easy to find things in.

Ooh thank you. I've just had a look at the babynel Robyn. That looks lovely too! Xx

I have a Tiba & Marl rucksack and I love it so much. It’s been chucked about for 14 months and still looks brand new, I figured I’d use it every day so it was basically going to be a new hand bag so I picked something I liked and would use.

Onedropbeat · 21/02/2021 20:11

I love my tiba and marl backpack too.
I bought it in 2017 for first baby and it’s lasted so well that it’s onto second baby now and still looks new.
My favourite baby purchase and DH doesn’t mind wearing it which is a bonus

3scompany · 21/02/2021 20:23

So many lovely choices. Thank you ladies! I think I need to have a look at some online (darn covid!) or wait to see if Boris is opening shops anytime soon!

Thank you again for your advice/recommendations xxx
