I don’t think there’s anything you can do, it’s 50/50. I’ve heard that the time of sex/ovulation can help, so if you want a boy to have sex the day of ovulation but a girl to do it before.
I know I had sex exactly on ovulation day & I’m having my third boy. Would also like a girl Grin but doubt I’ll have a forth!
Good luck anyway, I’m sure you wouldn’t be too disappointed if it was another girl!

Unless you can do gender selective IVF then please don't try for a baby if you would be unhappy to have a DD. No method other than IVF can guarantee a DS.

SquirtleSquad · 12/02/2021 18:40

There's a group on Facebook called "gender disappointment support ♥️x" which had tonnes of advice on this and support on the topic. My best friend suffered hugely with gender disappointment and tried everything for a girl, she now had 3 boys, but she found this group for tips and support invaluable.

HagridsUmbrella · 12/02/2021 18:42

The timing of sex ("shettles" method) has been debunked - it's not true. There is no scientifically proven way of "swaying" gender, unless you select the sex via ivf. I do think this is a rather worrying trend at the moment- I have a friend who got quite caught up in all the gender swaying diets/supplements/timing and she ended up with dreadful gender disappointment in the delivery room when she was handed the "wrong" sex. Just aim for a healthy baby and don't worry about anything else.

SquirtleSquad · 12/02/2021 18:43

It's always people wanting girls which I find desperately sad. Boys are great!

Ta111 · 12/02/2021 18:44

Thank you all I love my babies no matter what and if I have another girl then I no it's not meant to be everything happens for a reason. I was just wondering what I could do to help my chances a little bit this will be my last baby and all is god willing I'm a happy and blessed mother regardless as long as baby is healthy xxxx

Fyi gender selection ivf is not legal in the UK so if you wanted to do that you'd have to go abroad

Metherdick · 12/02/2021 18:47

Check out the genderdreaming website. On the proviso that you'd be happy with the outcome either way.

ElspethFlashman · 12/02/2021 18:47

I'm another one who had a boy after conceiving pretty much on my ovulation day and conceived a girl a few days post ovulation, but tbh I don't know if it was just coincidence.

Certainly I don't think it would hold up to a peer reviewed study! Grin

Not in some cultures unfortunately
PotteringAlong · 12/02/2021 18:50

I'm a happy and blessed mother regardless as long as baby is healthy

But not happy and not blessed if you give birth to a child who is sick? Or disabled?

Chelyanne · 12/02/2021 18:51

Unfortunately there are no guaranteed ways to improve your chances, it's all down to his swimmers. Y sperms tend to be sprinters and X sperms marathon runners so your chances of a girl are often better.

We have 4 girls and 1 boy, hubby has everything crossed hoping this one is a boy, we will hopefully find out at a private scan in a few weeks.

Ta111 · 12/02/2021 18:52

Pottering along I also said as long as baby is healthy if u read.

Yes, @Ta111 but my point is what if the baby isn’t healthy?

Pyewhacket · 12/02/2021 18:53

Reverse Cowgirl for a boy Wink

I think I read a study where people had more boys if they were eating plenty, especially breakfast cereal, but I mean the odds were changed to something like 55/45, not that it would guarantee a boy.

SquirtleSquad · 12/02/2021 18:55

@Hoppinggreen I meant on here. On that Facebook page i mentioned above there are some real horror stories from women in India and elsewhere of in-laws attacking women carrying their first child if it's a girl in hope that they'll go onto have their first live birth as a boy instead, it's sickening.

HastingsSpoon · 12/02/2021 18:57

@SquirtleSquad the OP has 3 girls?

You are less likely to have a boy as you get older I'm afraid. By the time the couples average age is 40 you are very much more likely to have a girl statistically about 65% I believe. Declining testosterone in the man is one theory.

Eviethyme · 12/02/2021 18:58

I don't believe in theories but I did jokingly go along with the Chinese gender predictor thing and I did get what I wanted both times (girl and a boy)

@potteringalong Of course she'll be disappointed if the baby isn't healthy, doesn't mean she won't love it. Stop trying to be nasty.
