McDonald’s and morning sickness

Seriously I have spent a week feeling so sick and exhausted not being able to hardly get out of bed, everything causing me nausea and feeling pretty rough tbh.
This morning although stricken with nausea I fancied a McDonald’s breakfast (didn’t get one). However the kids wanted one for dinner so I did. I honestly thought I would not be able to eat as even crackers make me want to heave. Yet I loved it! I’m now feeling great and not sick 🙈, I feel I couldn’t eat anything. Now I’m worrying something is wrong with the baby. I’m only 6 weeks. 😢. It’s the first time in a week I have not felt sick.

I knew I was pregnant the minute I was eating a fillet o fish in a car park 🤣🤣 went straight home and did a test
BINGO! up the duff

Dont worry it's normal to eat masses in f calorific food in the first few weeks especially if you are quite healthy food wise

AubergineDream · 07/02/2021 20:55

I have found salty foods, especially chips and crisps, were the best thing for my morning sickness. Coke or Pepsi were great too. A nice cold coke and a large McDonald's fries was the combo that were guaranteed to make me not feel sick, and I ended up having to indulge as my HG was awful and I was on meds but still nauseous (for all 3 trimesters!)
I also found Sausage and Egg McMuffins, Double bacon Cheeseburgers, Chicken Mayos and Big Macs had a great effect on my morning sickness!
Otherwise I could basically only eat gravy, Yorkshire puddings, cream crackers and dry cornflakes.

Riggsisadino · 07/02/2021 20:57

I had McDonald's breakfast 6 times in a week when my hypermesis was bad. Only thing I fancied and sometimes kept down !

AubergineDream · 07/02/2021 20:57

One of my cravings was for salted french fries dipped in milkshake Blush

ElfAndSafetyInspector · 07/02/2021 20:57

Oddly enough when I had hyperemesis some advice I had on here was try a McD's basic hamburger, no cheese, no chips, just a standard burger. I nearly puked just going in to get it, but it was the only thing I could keep down for weeks. I hadn't had McD's in about 15 years before that and I haven't had one since - I don't even eat meat any more - but whatever the secret is, it worked.

Why would it make you worry something is wrong with the baby? Mine didn't come out with the golden arches over her forehead or anything if that reassures you!

In my first pregnancy the only meal I could eat for the first 4 months without throwing up was a chicken burger and fries from McDonald's!! I'd never even had one before, but one day I craved it so bad and felt like it wouldn't make me sick, and I was right! So bizarre

thetinselbadge · 07/02/2021 20:59

I ate it three times a week when I had awful nausea. I'm not fussed on it now but it was exactly what I needed.

Handsnotwands · 07/02/2021 21:02

I went to mcd’s so often when I had morning sickness that they started to recognise me Blush

Skymum82 · 07/02/2021 21:05

Thanks, I literally tried everything, ginger biscuits, crackers, mints, digestives, dried toast (apple which went down ok actually). But the macdonalds I feel fantastic! Had it about 3 abs have not felt this good for a whole week I have energy I don’t feel sick. So of course I’m now worrying my hormones are going down (nothing to do with the mf d). 🙈

Pretty much all I could eat was beige food in the first trimester, McDonald's included. Other helpful foods were potato waffles, roast potatoes, french fries, hula hoops, cheese sandwiches and chocolate..

Skymum82 · 07/02/2021 21:12

I literally tried all them foods and they made me feel so sick other than the hula hoops 🙈. I was just eating crackers and apple to stay alive. I can’t even explain how good I feel now I’m so nervous something is up 🙈.

I had hyperemesis when pregnant with DD1. Lost 1.5 stone over the pregnancy. I'm sure I had her at week 36 because my body was done with it all.

The one thing I could actually fancy eating from time to time was the Burger King Spicy Beanburger. Poor DH, who loves a burger would come home and I'd be there at the door waiting for him to take me straight up to town for tea. He was so sick of eating there, but I couldn't cook as opening the fridge without vomiting, and he couldn't cook as he'd never learned (joined the army at 18 - he can cook now).

Eat whatever you can, whenever you can.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/02/2021 21:18

I was sick for the whole 9 months. Just eat what you can keep down.

Soggybiscuits17 · 07/02/2021 21:24

Mcdonalds is the only thing I would physically crave while pregnant (especially in the first trimester!)

PlanBea · 07/02/2021 21:25

Generally with morning sickness I found if I was empty I felt more sick, but I didn't want to eat anything because I felt sick, which meant I was empty and feeling more sick... You get the idea! But if I managed to get something in my stomach I'd feel better.

Don't worry about whether it's healthy or good for you, in the first weeks you don't share a blood stream, it's more important that you eat something than if it's good for you while you're in the first few weeks!

EekThreek · 07/02/2021 21:32

Ha! I remember this phase! With #2 & #3 there were WEEKS where all I could stomach was potato and orange. So I'd go to macdo's on the way to work for a hash brown and orange juice. Fries for lunch, satsumas for snacks. By dinner time I could usually manage a few more veg with my potatoes but no meat until about 14 weeks. I had roasties about 4-5 days a week!

Neither of them seem particularly spud like now. #2 does hate oranges though, #3 is still obsessed with them.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/02/2021 21:38

Having worked in McDonald's as a teenager, I now never eat there voluntarily- except when I was pregnant with my first, when bizarrely it was one of the few things I could stomach. So I'm assuming it's normal!

LookingAtTheFlowers · 07/02/2021 21:38

I've been off meat since being pregnant. Yet McChicken Sandwiches were all I wanted to eat a couple of weeks ago! I was about 8-9 weeks at the time... I can eat more normal food now but still cannot stomach the sight or thought of fresh chicken!

drumst1ck · 07/02/2021 21:39

I ate chips and gravy every couple of days during first trimester with DD1. It seemed to be the only thing my body wanted and eased the sicky feeling. Eat whatever you need to get you through!

moirarosebabay · 07/02/2021 21:41

I liked MacDonalds when I was pregnant too. And someone said lemon might stop the naseau so I got some refreshers. For me I think eating a little bit helped me. You forget how bad it is until you have it again.

LouJ85 · 07/02/2021 21:41

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I crave McDonalds all the time, especially the salty chips. I hardly ate it before I was pregnant - now it's easily a once or twice a week thing. 🙈 also had bad hyperemesis in the first few months and I could barely stomach water, yet McDonald's Coca Cola stayed down and settled my tummy. Pregnancy does strange things to our bodies!

Floridaflipflops · 07/02/2021 21:42

Yep. I was so rough when I was pregnant with dd3. Dd2 and I ate in Mac Donald’s most days Blush

Tianatiers · 07/02/2021 21:44

I used to crave mcdonalds when I was pregnant, that and sausage and chips from the chippy. Was all I could eat without feeling sick. Not very healthy but needs must. Those first few weeks with morning sickness are so tough, it eased around 12 weeks for me. Hope it eases soon for you but until then eat whatever you fancy to get you through it!

PurplePansy05 · 07/02/2021 21:45

Totally helped me with my nausea in the first trimester. McD's was my weekly treat meal, even though I've gone off all other meat.

idontlikealdi · 07/02/2021 21:47

I lived in sausage McMuffins nd haribo for 12 weeks, couldn't eat anything else.
