Ectopic Pregnancy

Has anyone else been diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy recently?
I have a one year old DS, conceived second cycle and this pregnancy was conceived in the first cycle of trying. I had spotting seven days after BFP and thought chemical pregnancy. But after going to the doctors Friday (I knew something was up) they sent me for a scan yesterday to confirm. My HCG levels are 59 and I'm back up the hospital tomorrow for more so they can compare. Fingers crossed they come down again and I can have 'expectant management.' I have no symptoms other than bleeding for 2 weeks now.
I'm shocked, scared and confused. If anyone else is going through this then maybe we can support each other 😘

Hi, i am sorry for your loss. I too received the same news yesterday at 6 weeks and I am also going down the expectant management route. How did your latest hcg levels look? And how are you feeling? Mine were 109 on 26/01, then 120 on 29th, so a small rise. Repeat bloods on Friday, hoping they’re going down now so I can avoid that injection. Our situations are almost identical. I have also been bleeding for 2 weeks today and haven’t had any pain apart from some bad cramps on day 2 of the bleeding. I hope you are getting some rest. Flowers

So sorry you are going through this Flowers

There is a bunch of us on the Conception board on a thread ‘TTC after ectopic part 2’ - despite the title a few of us are pregnant again and we’ve had quite a lot of new joiners in the past few days who have only been diagnosed in the last couple of weeks so aren’t TTC but we all know what you’re going through.

Big hand hold for you, it is a really scary time x

@Leo090813 sorry you're going through this too lovely! My levels were only 59 on Monday, repeat bloods Wednesday showed a rise to 85 so I had methotrexate on Thursday. Feeling ok so far but expecting it to kick in a bit more from tomorrow. I'm in for more bloods Monday and Thursday
@MrsB2019x thank you I have posted in that one too, look forward to TTC again but disappointed I have to wait. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things

@HereIfYouNeedMe I recognise you now, I’m so bad at paying attention to usernames 🙈

Glad you're feeling okay so far, I am scared of having it as like you, the wait to TTC seems so long but definitely the right choice for you if your levels are rising. Do you mind me asking if you're still bleeding? Mine has almost stopped, it's now brownish spotting, but I'm concerned what this means as surely if they saw the fetus in the tube on Friday then I still have a lot more to loose, if that makes any sense at all! I hope you continue to feel okay after the injection. Xx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 31/01/2021 14:14

@Leo090813 I had a day with nothing, it's common for it to stop and start again. I have everything crossed for you that your levels come down
I'm still not bleeding heavily and it's been 3 days since the injection. Do keep me updated how you get on hun, is this your first? Xxxp

I've just had a 3 hour nap so I reckon the tiredness has kicked in 😴 but I'm feeling ok so far

Leo090813 · 31/01/2021 14:54

Glad you still feel ok and have been able to rest! And thanks, I hope they go down too! I already have a 7 year old from a previous relationship, so this is first one with my current partner. What about you? X

HereIfYouNeedMe · 31/01/2021 15:18

I've got a 14 month old son, this one was the first month trying thinking I'd have a September baby (control freak 😂) but things don't always work out the way you plan I guess!
How are you feeling? When are your next lot of bloods?

OP posts:
Leo090813 · 31/01/2021 16:28

Ah 17 months, how lovely! I've got a boy too! Wow that's great you managed to fall so quickly although obviously horrible how it's turned out. We have been trying since about August last year, which feels like ages but isn't really in the grand scheme of things! I'm okay, partner is working today so been the first day being Mum without any help, going to sleep well tonight! Next lot of bloods aren't until Friday, which makes me nervous as thought they would ask me sooner considering I did have a slight rise but hopefully they know what they're doing. How are you feeling? Do you work? I work from home but I've self cert for 7 days as I can't face it! X

Leo090813 · 31/01/2021 16:28

14 month sorry Grin

HereIfYouNeedMe · 31/01/2021 16:53

@Leo090813 I'm surprised too that you're not being checked before Friday, I was diagnosed monday, bloods done. They were 59 then two days later and a rise to only 85 but was given the injection the next day. I believe a 100% they know what they're doing so don't worry, it's just strange how different hospitals do things differently. I'd have loved to not have the injection so maybe they're just giving you that extra bit of time.. just take it really easy!!
Yea I work 3 days a week 9-17:30, was doing a full week last week to train someone new but ended up only doing 3.5 because of the appointments 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm working through, I've only been there 3 months and have been working from home up until last week. If I need time off I will take it though. I took the day off when I found out it was ectopic last Monday xx

Hiya. I'm ok thank you, I am starting to get some niggly pain on the right side, I'm constantly worried I'm going to rupture! I've also got some brown weird spotting, last few days has been bright red blood so there's definitely a change going on. Just praying my body is doing what it needs to. My nipples feel less sore now so I'm hoping that's a sign of decreasing levels! But it's just so hard to know what's going on in there isn't it How are you? How's your reaction to the injection now? Sorry, cannot for the life of me remember how it's spelt Blush I hope you're feeling okay xx

alexio · 02/02/2021 17:11

@HereIfYouNeedMe

So sorry to hear this has happened, it's a horrible thing to go through.
This happened to me at the end of 2018, 1st pregnancy and it obviously didn't go as planned. I had expectant management just monitoring bloods and a couple of internal scans. No pain or medication required but it was a long process I think about 6/7 weeks.

I'm glad you've came on here for support though as it is a difficult thing to grieve and come to terms with so having support is good

HereIfYouNeedMe · 02/02/2021 17:16

@Leo090813 phone the ward and tell them about your niggles, especially as you're having to wait until Friday. It's awful isn't it, feel like a ticking time bomb!
I'm responding well, tests Monday (which took 3 attempts from nurses and 3 from a doctor to get blood from me 😣) came back at levels of 49! Dropped from 85, so hoping Thursdays show an even better drop. Be sure to keep chatting on here hun and let me know how Friday goes!! Xx

@alexio sorry you've experienced this too! Good to hear you had no interference. How are you now? Any DCs?

alexio · 02/02/2021 17:21

@HereIfYouNeedMe I'm doing great now thanks, about 6 months after I conceived again and he is now coming up for 11 months and I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant. The care I received from early pregnancy during the ectopic and since then at the start of my pregnancies have been great.
Feel very happy to have a beautiful boy and another on the way but still feel sadness for the one I lost

HereIfYouNeedMe · 02/02/2021 17:24

@alexio oh congratulations that's a lovely come back story! I took conception for granted and fell quickly with both but now I'm worried about the future, you give me hope! What a lovely age gap too, I had a little boy, now 14 months. Was planning for a September baby but I guess things don't always go to plan! (Says the control freak) I'm sorry you still feel sadness, I can completely understand that x

OP posts:
Leo090813 · 02/02/2021 17:36

@HereIfYouNeedMe I think I'll phone them tomorrow, I believe the EPU shuts at 5 and it's not really bad so I don't want to make a fuss over morning. I'm really pleased your body is responding so well to the injection and your levels have decreased. Fingers crossed for a mother decrease on Thursday. Yes Friday does seem a long time away, I may ask tomorrow when I phone them if I can pop and have bloods tomorrow/Thursday instead as I'm concerned about how far away Friday is and what might happen in between! Good luck on Thursday, let me know! Xx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 02/02/2021 17:39

@Leo090813 sounds like a great plan! Just don't hesitate if you feel a pain that paracetamol doesn't touch. I'll let you know Thursday the results! Xx

@Leo090813 out of hours I'm sure you can call maternity assessment even if it's just for advice

Leo090813 · 03/02/2021 08:56

Thank you.

I'm so sad this morning Sad I'm sure it's the hormones but I'm just crying at everything and it's not even 9am yet. Just feels like such a long road is ahead of me still, and even longer if I need the injection, I just want it to be over and get my body back to feeling healthy and normal and it all just seems so cruel.xx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 03/02/2021 10:54

@Leo090813 sorry you're sad today ☹️ yes it definitely does feel cruel!! Did you ring them? Are they doing bloods earlier?
