Will my son be allowed to come to 12 week scan?

Hi,
I’m due to have my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks. My husband would like to attend it but we would have no one to look after our son (without breaking lockdown rules). My son is 7, so if my husband was to attend my son would need to come with us.
I don’t mind going on my own, would obviously rather my husband be there but just wondered if anyone knows if a child can accompany you at this time?
Thanks x

@kittenpeak

I think the important question here is who will look after your child when you’re giving birth! They won’t allow a child to the scan. I think they even stopped allowing them to scans before Covid
I’d like to think that in six months there will be childcare options available and if not, that’s something to worry about closer to the time.

Children have never been allowed at scans here, and now parters aren't allowed either. There's no way you'd be allowed 2 people at the scan with you, they may both have to wait in the car

I personally think it should never be allowed. I was given bad news at a scan. If my 7 year old had been there I would have had to help her with her grief as well as dealing with my own. Sorry, don't want to worry you, but we are given scans for a reason.

No - they aren't A fun family day out they have important medical functions.

I've done all my scans alone this pregnancy and honestly it's been fine

@Iwantacookie

Sorry to jump on your post op but is no children at scans a recent thing? Ds1 came to my scan with dd 17 years ish ago and he would of been 12 months ish at the time.
It's not new.

Unless there's an extreme set of circumstances, why would you take a child to a medical examination?

The staff need to concentrate, you need to be focused and able to answer questions, you may get bad news, the child has to be kept occupied and not milling around/interrupting etc.

I don't believe that OP can't make a childcare bubble. And if they genuinely can't, the DH needs to stay with DS either in car or at home.
