What's the feeling of waters breaking?

FTM here! I'm 40 weeks this coming Tuesday 😬. Just curious what is the feeling of waters breaking? Is it like you really need to go for a wee? Or you literally have no warning what's so ever and it just comes out of you? Like most pregnant mummas I'm constantly up and down to ten toilet especially half asleep at night! Worried I might mistaken the urge to go to the toilet and my waters breaking?

With my first I went into hospital thinking waters had gone, nope I'd just peed myself in bed oops

Second time woke up at 3am to a massive storm, got up to go loo, and thought I was having an accident at first, but then realised I could stop it, it was a constant flow for about 15 mins, could have filled a bucket or two. Pains started shortly after. I've rare though, most people's waters don't go until after pains, so assume my advice would be assume wee until it's really obviously not lol

4 DC and I have never had my waters break before labour:

With DC1, they went towards the end and it helped to relieve the pressure pre-pushing. DC2 we hung around a bit before it was clear she was imminent and it would help things along if the midwife broke them.

DCs 3&4, they were broke at quite an early stage as I was clearly in labour but it was showing down - I was in complete agreement with this as I knew from DC2 that it would get things moving - and it did.

As others have said, nothing like wetting yourself - a pop and a gush and, in my case, the baby's head can descend onto the cervix and get/keep things moving.

Good luck, OP!

Mine started leaking and it just felt like water leaking with no control. A bit like when you get a heavy period or you feel your period start.
They didn't actually properly go until I was well into labour and only 5% of people's waters go properly before established labour

I had just gone for a wee, got back into bed and felt a sudden gush of water, kept on like that in small gushes for around three hours, then on my way up to MLU I had quite a heavy feeing and was convinced they'd go in the corridor, got onto MLU and was just about to be examined when they went properly, huge gush of water that time all over the bed and the floor

Like a warm water balloon exploding

No gush just a little trickle like I thought I needed the loo the first time. Second time had waters broken and felt a distinct pop and a huge gush. So different both times.
