Hi all

Just interested to see what everyone's Company Maternity Pay is like?

@Snorlax86

Wow where are you all working that you get so much full pay?! Serious question I think I need to change employers before the next one! Mine is 6 weeks at 90% then SMP with a few months at the end with no pay.
Any decent employer, really. No enhanced mat pay is a sign of a company who doesn't really give a fuck about their staff.
Mary7241 · 21/12/2020 20:26

6 weeks at 90%, another 12 at 50% then stat. I’m a teacher.

Mary7241 · 21/12/2020 20:28

I think it’s really disgraceful my husband will just get statutory for his pathetic two weeks paternity. He’s worked at his company for 17years. Then again they’re also shocked he wants to take it at all and we wouldn’t even consider shared because of my enhanced pay

Bruce2 · 21/12/2020 20:30

6 weeks at 90%
20 weeks at 75%
Then SMP for rest

But I also get my car allowance still paid every month and bonus so only my basic goes to 90% then 75% so quite fortunate that way

MrsMarrio · 21/12/2020 20:37

@Snorlax86 DH where you get paid full pay for 12 months works for CFRS I don't know if all fire services have that benefits. I work for a private childcare company who as others have said don't give a shit about their staff so needless to say I've dropped my hours dramatically when I return to work as ironically my wage doesn't cover my childcare costs 😂

Zeetah · 21/12/2020 20:48

Would be interesting if posters also said what type of organisation they work for.

Mine is a large City based firm & I got 20 weeks full pay.

But I was the only person in my NCT group who got more than statutory minimum.

Scottishskifun · 21/12/2020 21:11

Public sector not NHS, police or teachers (which I think get less)

Nesski · 21/12/2020 21:17

@Snorlax86 we both work at large private consulting firms in the city. For what it's work, they've milked us both the past few years (long hours, stress etc) so the grass is not always greener!

MonkeyPuddle · 21/12/2020 21:19

6 weeks on 90%, then onto stat mat pay.
I’m a practice nurse, so I carry out nhs work but I’m not on an nhs contract so don’t get the benefits.

DonkeyMcFluff · 21/12/2020 21:28

My DH couldn’t afford to take any paternity leave at all. His weekly salary is £1000 and statutory paternity pay is £150, we couldn’t cope with losing that amount of money. Luckily I gave birth at the the weekend and he went back to work on Monday, leaving me to cope alone with a newborn and a c section. His employer suggested he should hire a nurse to look after me, as if normal people can afford that sort of thing.

Nat4392 · 21/12/2020 21:33

Just SMP for me. 6 weeks at 90% then the measly £150ish/week and 3 months unpaid if I wish to take a year. Dental nurse private practice.

Nesski · 21/12/2020 21:33

Hopefully for some of us we will have the option to work from home or employers will have moved past the 'be-seen in the office' mindset to allow other halves to wfh.

As @Ohalrightthen said, any decent employer should want to keep their employees as opposed to NGAF..

Snorlax86 · 21/12/2020 21:41

Thanks all, I work for the public sector (not civil service which I understand is quite generous) so I guess that explains the rubbish mat pay and absolutely no perks!

Backbee · 21/12/2020 23:20

Yes that sucks. Where I am you can share mat leave, or if you are a man and your partner is a SAHM (or I think self employed but doesn't have any income at all for a certain period) and not claiming any mat pay, they can take the same 26 weeks full pay, 3 months SMP etc as mums can. Or full pay for the 2 weeks paternity regardless, and a few days to accompany a partner to scans etc.

lucywho123 · 22/12/2020 09:09

Just statutory for me too. Despite being at my company 6 years. Its really shite and whilst we're saving to try and cover us until the baby is 6 months, it's going to be a struggle

luxxlisbon · 22/12/2020 10:26

@DollyParton2 why doesn’t it sit right with you that your company also offers full pay to fathers?
I think it is great that the same is offered to mothers and fathers. Dads get a raw deal when it comes to things like this and I think more companies should up their paternity.
Until men have the same amount of time off and are as likely to take it then the brunt of sacrificing careers will continue fall to women.

sleepyg · 22/12/2020 10:55

Wow some of you have excellent policies! For those of you who get 6 months full pay then half pay, which sector do you work in?

I'm in Manufacturing and our policy is 3 months full pay then statutory. I don't feel too hard done to now after seeing how very little some of you are paid! :(

HipHipHooray7 · 22/12/2020 13:52

My 6 months full and 3 months half is financial services. DH 6 months is FMCG. Feel very lucky and grateful for the family time.

I work for a bank with high street branches.
Rightthen24 · 22/12/2020 15:46

6 monrhs full pay here, I'm another one that works in Financial services at a well known High Street Bank.

Ladybird345 · 22/12/2020 15:46

39 weeks full pay and an optional 12 weeks nil pay

HayJkl · 22/12/2020 15:48

The company topped up maternity pay so it worked out to be 93% of my pay for one year.

Thisisbananas3 · 22/12/2020 16:12

Wow I’m so surprised at the maternity policies! I’m in the legal profession and get SMP only

greenemerald · 22/12/2020 16:14

Bare minimum here too Sad currently on mat leave and SMP just just finished until I return in the spring. Sigh. Seems like 6 months full pay is common on this thread - that's great!

BoJingle · 22/12/2020 16:17

With my first I got SMP only which was shit.

I came back to a new job in the same company and negotiated mat pay as my package. I now get 6 weeks 90%, 6 months 50%, then SMP to 9m. Not the best but a big improvement on SMP.

They are being cheeky fuckers atm though and messing me around about confirming they will pay it.
