Pregnant at 35 and 38 - first month of trying both times.

I already had 2 children conceived aged 31 and 33 first go. Tried for our third earlier this year aged 36, again fell pregnant first month but I miscarried at 7 weeks, tried again and was lucky to get pregnant immediately again, now 30 weeks. I think we are just very lucky that we seem to be very fertile though.

I did wonder if it’d take longer being older and it did cross my mind that miscarriage risk increases with age, so it was something that was on my mind when we tried. Most of it is just luck of the draw, I think it’s more nearer 40 that fertility really drops and miscarriage risk rises more steeply.

I conceived first time at 35. I'm pregnant now again. Conceived in 3 months at 38. So two very straight forward stories. First pregnancy was easy and the birth was quick and straightforward. I've been much sicker this time and had to get an extra test to screen for downs. But no at 21 weeks all is fine.

Good luck.

I got pregnant straight away, first time we'r tried, at 37, DD was born after I turned 38. No issues with her, or with pregnancy. I did end up with an EMCS delivery but I've subsequently been told that's likely to have been because my insides are poorly designed. My age may not have helped but it wasn't the main cause.

My first two which I had until age 33 were conceived within the first cycle. Tried for no. 3 at 36. Conceived first cycle but lost it due to a missed miscarriage. Then tried actively for over a full year with no luck, go pregnant after 16 months, lost that one to a MMC too, gave up and got accidentally pregnant. I'll be 39 when this one is born.

There are lots of positive stories on here but be aware that it can take much longer after 35 - I didn't think it would and it was a very tough time. But I read that after 35 if you've not conceived within 6 months you should mention it to your Dr. I kept telling him, he kept fobbing me off. It happened before I changed doctors but this one at least listens. I suffered a lot of heartbreak because the dr wouldn'tlisten to me. You know your body, make them listen or change drs.

I'm 37 and almost 20 weeks with my 4th baby (7th pregnancy). I got pregnant this year and had a very early loss (would have been called a chemical except I had one sided pain so was seen by the EPU, making it clinical rather than chemical). Had one period after that then conceived again, with the current belly dweller. I was 36 when I conceived but then turned 37. When I was 29 the same thing happened, though with a MMC instead of an early MC, and I got pregnant right after that too- so it looks like my fertility hasn't YET started to decline. It may be worth noting that my alcohol intake in general for my entire adult life has been very low (I've heard drinking can impact fertility). I was on prenatals when I conceived this one because I had them left over from the loss, I do wonder if those helped, because the cycle I got pregnant I had a SUPER strong ovulation, and after, could feel tiny waves of mild cramps that felt like my uterus giving an assist to swimmers.

2 pregnancies resulting in 2 children between the ages of 35-39. 1st conceived first month straight off Mirena coil, second took 12 month because H was technically infertile after cancer treatment.
Loads of sex the first time, once or twice a month the second time. (twice the month I got caught)

Starting TCC at 34, 3 years later had my DS. I had ivf after trying for 18 months, than 2 miscarriages then DS. Unexplained infertility. Chances are you'll be fine but for some it's not that easy.

Dc1 at 35, dc2 at 37, dc 3 45. I got pregnant very easily, but I've also had 3 miscarriages between dc2 and dc3. I remember being so worried I had left it too late before my 1st dc and I was always relieved to hear of other successful pregnancies in 'older ' women. I still find it hard to believe I went on to have 3 dc though.

36 now, got pregnant at 35 pretty easily.

MaudePie · 01/05/2025 16:26

I got pregnant first cycle when I was 29 and 32. Started trying for third child at 40 and again got pregnancy first cycle - that ended in a MMC. When we started trying again I was 41 and had a chemical pregnancy first cycle then got pregnant again fourth cycle after that - currently it’s sticking and just into the second trimester!

JuneySunshine · 01/05/2025 16:40

Same at 32 as at 36.
On a population level fertility migth be declining slightly with age but its obviously specific to you and your body.

perfectpanda · 09/05/2025 13:04

I used to worry about my fertility so much as I approached 35. But I've had 3 kids after 35 - 2 unplanned at 35 and 44 and one planned at 37, 1st month trying. Its not all been straightfoward as I did have a few miscarriages around the age of 40.

KittyFantastica · 13/05/2025 18:59

At 35, I conceived 3 times in a year (two early losses and sadly lost our little boy at 19 weeks), first time every time we tried.

We took some time off after the loss of our son so we could heal. Came off contraception when we felt ready and didn’t track. I was pregnant by the next month.

Not everyone’s experience, obviously, it really does depend on individual circumstances, but can definitely happen quickly for some. Sadly, our problem has been holding onto them.
