Missed miscarriage help/advice

Hi everyone, as some of you know I had what I suppose is a missed miscarriage on Thursday at 9 weeks, but baby only measuring 6 weeks/5.5mm. I had brown discharge for about a week then some red when I wiped and some clots. It’s been the worst time of my life so far.

I’ve been told to come back for a rescan on the 19th because of the small size, they can’t confirm it when it’s under 7mm without a rescan even though they told me at the scan it basically is all over.

I’m waiting to pass the baby, they gave me a leaflet saying it will be very painful and lots of blood gushing out. So far since Thursday I’ve just had dark brown with small lumps On a tissue and a bit on a pad, and sometimes a bit of red.

I was just wondering if anyone can help me - is it likely that if I carry on like this I will pass the foetus? Is it possible to miscarry without all the pain and gushing blood if they foetus is really small?

Ideally I want to pass it before Monday, as I don’t really want to have tablets or d&c, but I think really it’s seems likely that I will have to have some kind of management.

Any help or stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank you! I feel somehow at peace having laid it to rest somewhere where it will always be with us.

I had bad cramps again this afternoon, and when I walked the dog I felt something big come out. When I went to the toilet when I came back, I found that it was a huge jump of tissue! About 8cm long and very dense. Could that be the placenta or would it have been too early for that?

I really hope that was it now!

@Cafeaulait27 I had the same, a big, long, dense lump thing come out way after the sac came out. I assumed it must be the placenta. It was very odd looking that's for sure. I'm just waiting now on my negative pregnancy test - my MC happened at 10+4 17 days ago and I still got a BFP today! I need to repeat the test on Weds and let the EPU know the outcome. Thinking of you. It is horrendous.

@gypsywater Yes that must’ve been it... I know exactly what you mean by odd looking. Long and dense. I feel like still, even in this day and age, I did not get anywhere near enough information on what was going to happen to me.

I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️ Hope everything goes ok for you xxx

I didn't even develop a baby just an empty sac and it took 3 weeks for me to get a negative test

This morning I emailed the secretary of my nhs fertility specialist, as I have an appointment booked with her on Thursday to discuss my miscarriage.

The secretary may have sent this email in error - but she sent an email from the Dr saying that as I haven’t had 3 Miscarriages no testing will be done on me and she wants to tell me in person. The secretary then tried to recall the message.

I replied back and said I was disappointed but understood the guidelines. I did say though that given my mum’s 4 Miscarriages over 10 years and my pcos I would think this warrants investigation. I said all I am asking for is some blood tests and potentially prescriptions for progesterone. I said that the midwife I spoke to at EPU told me it warranted further investigation.

She did then come back and say that the Dr would like to know more about my mums history ahead of the appointment, and if there was any clotting issues. She also sent over a recurrent miscarriage leaflet for me to read ahead of Thursday.

So I am hopeful that I may be able to get some testing done on the nhs. It just goes show, if you want something you have to fight and also constantly remind them of your reasons and medical history.

Hoping Thursday will be helpful 🤞
