20+6

But basically I fell over about 2hrs ago, I stepped into the bath then remembered I needed something from the bedroom and stupidly walked through onto the laminate floor with wet feet and went flying. Luckily I landed on my hands and knees and didn’t hit my stomach or anything.. I went and got back in the bath, I’m in no more pain than normal (been in pain a few days with my back and a few front niggles, nothing major) I feel absolutely fine.

Would you have phoned to get checked? I personally think no. it’s been about 2hrs now. I have no extra pain, no bleeding or anything to cause concern. I just keep wondering if I should have been checked either way? I don’t think so, but need reassurance.

Thanks in advance x

Why not call triage and explain? They'll talk you through any concerns and if they want to see you, they'll ask you in

theresaplaceforus · 02/10/2020 18:37

Just call up and explain what happened, I agree with PP

Lozz22 · 02/10/2020 18:44

I would've been straight on the phone. I had a slight prang at around 5-10mph last year whilst pregnant. Felt fine no cramping, slight bleeding but that was due to a kidney infection previously diagnosed the night before in A&E. thought everything was ok so didn't go to hospital I went on to lose my Baby that night

Wow, that's reassuring for the OP ......not!

Really sorry for your loss, but that was a really harsh comment when I'm clearly already worrying. Please think before you comment like that, I'm a first timer and already worry enough about every twinge.

I called for reassurance and they said not to worry unless I get any unusual pain. Thank you x

I slipped on a step and fell directly on my bump in my last pregnancy. I did call to check and they said as long as I wasn’t getting any pain or bleeding, not to worry as they’re pretty well protected in there with fluid etc. Baby was fine. Gave me a little scare though! Hope you’re feeling ok OP

WhiteCloud6 · 02/10/2020 19:02

I fell up the top step at work at 28 weeks pregnant. Didn't actually hit belly as I caught myself on my knees and hands. I was a bit shaken after but was all fine. Later that evening I noticed he hasant moved as much as he usually did so I began to worry, I rang the hospital and they had me in for monitoring for half an hour watching his heart rate. All was good and perfectly fine. I find that over worry about anything to do with baby!

Yeah I gave in and called and that's what they said. It's just a worry because my placenta is at the front so Iv not felt movement yet and have nothing to monitor! No pain or anything though so I'll hopefully stop worrying now x

Everything is such a worry! I have my placenta at the front so haven't felt any movement to monitor yet, I think maybe that's part of the worry at the moment! But they weren't concerned and I feel okay at the moment so that's good x

I'm glad the hospital said not to worry but I do think your reply to @Lozz22 was a bit rude? She took the time to reply with her experience and I don't think her comment was harsh at all

Tangfastica · 02/10/2020 19:19

@ivfbeenbusy butt out. It was sent with equal measure. Emotions are high.

Goodebe · 02/10/2020 19:28

I had a very similar fall to you, doctor explained to me that the baby is so so well cushioned it’s almost certainly ok, providing no cramping / bleeding and you’ve spoken to someone for reassurance try not to worry.

I don't see any part of my reply that was rude, I appreciate she took the time to reply but her comment could have been worded a lot more sensitively.

@ivfbeenbusy thank you. Wish I'd never bothered saying anything now!

Bl0ndi3 · 02/10/2020 21:50

@Dan17 if you are concerned give midwife or somebody a call :) I am sure everything is fine but won't hurt to get checked x

I also don't think you were rude I've seen comments from that person before and they were similarly insensitive in the circumstances and I found it totally unnecessary here too so ignore anybody who says otherwise lovely

Lozz22 · 02/10/2020 21:54

@Dan17 sorry but there was absolutely nothing harsh in my reply whatsoever. I was just saying about my experience. That Baby was much wanted after 3 previous miscarriages and 15 years of TTC. If I could turn back the clock I would've gone straight to hospital but at the time because it was such a low impact bump basically just scraping the rear wing of my car against another car and everything felt ok I thought everything was fine.

LH1987 · 02/10/2020 21:56

Hi @Dan17, when I was pregnant with my first (abouT 19 weeks), I smacked myself in the stomach with car door. I was very worried, I had a scan (all fine). Midwife explained, babies are covered by fluid, muscle, skin etc etc and are very well protected. More than likely everything is fine but get checked if you are worried. Xx

Bl0ndi3 · 02/10/2020 21:57

@Lozz22 I think maybe you need to think about how you word things because it is really harsh I agree with OP. You've commented on something else I've seen and you've worded it really harshly there too and it's unnecessary when you're talking to somebody who is clearly worried.

FourPlasticRings · 02/10/2020 21:59

You sound sensible to me, OP. Tbh not much will be done at 20 weeks anyway, in this country at least. Too early to induce if something has gone wrong. Besides, at 20 weeks they're still very well cushioned. I can't imagine it'll be a problem if you landed on your hands and knees. My birthing ball popped the other day while I was on it- fell to the floor on my backside (side note: it's well worth double-checking they aren't over-inflated). I'm 39 weeks in. PAU were not concerned in the slightest.

Lozz22 · 02/10/2020 22:03

Well tonight's just made the decision for me to come off Mumsnet permanently. I tried telling someone my experience and got completely slated for it.

mamangelo · 02/10/2020 22:03

Wow I disagree and think what @Lozz22 said was factual and from a good place. No point in everyone assuring OP everything will be fine as very sadly sometimes things aren’t ok hence why we all worry so damn much
