20+6

But basically I fell over about 2hrs ago, I stepped into the bath then remembered I needed something from the bedroom and stupidly walked through onto the laminate floor with wet feet and went flying. Luckily I landed on my hands and knees and didn’t hit my stomach or anything.. I went and got back in the bath, I’m in no more pain than normal (been in pain a few days with my back and a few front niggles, nothing major) I feel absolutely fine.

Would you have phoned to get checked? I personally think no. it’s been about 2hrs now. I have no extra pain, no bleeding or anything to cause concern. I just keep wondering if I should have been checked either way? I don’t think so, but need reassurance.

Thanks in advance x

Exactly what @mamangelo said. When I had a minor shunt in a taxi the driver actually took me to hospital (I assured him it was fine but he insisted) everything was okay but the doctor told me I was right to get it checked. Unfortunately people do lose their babies in minor bumps. Better to be safe than sorry OP. Try not to worry too much x

FourPlasticRings · 02/10/2020 22:08

Sorry for your loss @Lozz22. Flowers

imissthesouth · 02/10/2020 22:10

@Lozz22
Sorry you feel the need to leave mumsnet. If it's any consolation I agree with what you wrote, i'm so sorry for your loss x

I fell over with my first (hit belly against car boot) called up & was told to monitor. Movement pattern changed over the next couple of days (felt sort of frantic) so I went in and had emergency section for ruptured placenta. PICU 10 days but all good in the end. Fell over with my second 2 days before due date (ECS) but no ill effects and again, all good. Baby is well protected and nature is wonderful. Just be alert to any changes and go with your instinct.

@Dan17 just seen you called and spoke to somebody and they've reassured you 🥰 I am reading all these stories about falls with bumps and i bet it's really scary. (First timer here and only 6+3)

Ive learned already to never be afraid to get checked over better than sitting at home worrying and just on the off chance that something is wrong the sooner you get to it the better!

Look after yourself and bump and urm... maybeeeeee don't walk on laminate with wet feet again 😂😘

Lozz22 · 02/10/2020 22:39

@FourPlasticRings thank you

Lozz22 · 02/10/2020 22:47

@imissthesouth thank you. I already feel crap enough as it because our Baby's anniversary has just passed, but now I feel even worse now after being told I'm harsh all because I told someone my experience. At the end of the day I wouldn't want anyone to go through the pain and suffering Myself and my Partner have gone through over the last year

Solomon1212 · 02/10/2020 23:35

If its any help i had a pretty awful fall when i was 37 weeks with my daughter. I also landed on my hands and knees, went on to deliver a beautiful healthy baby. Dont panic they are very well protected in there xx

Fruitloops34 · 03/10/2020 08:15

Do you know what, see if everyone had commented that the OP didn’t need to worry and baby would be fine and then something bad had happened. The OP would have been the first on here to complain that everyone gave her the wrong advice.

Sorry to say but Mumsnet is a public forum for which the OP has come on and asked for opinions, unfortunately the internet is not positive stories only. Ask a question you are going to get answers, ones you like and ones you don’t like. That’s what happens in the real world.

However I’m glad OP has called and been told everything should be okay and sorry for the other posters loss.

Tact and empathy though costs nothing.

Yeah I gave them a call and just got a bit of a reassurance. I knew realistically things would be fine since I didn't actually hit me stomach, but you always find something to worry about!

As for walking on the floor with wet feet, I really don't know what possessed me 😂 I just stepped out the bath and went walking through the bedroom like it was fine 🤦🏼‍♀️ so dumb!

@FourPlasticRings

You sound sensible to me, OP. Tbh not much will be done at 20 weeks anyway, in this country at least. Too early to induce if something has gone wrong. Besides, at 20 weeks they're still very well cushioned. I can't imagine it'll be a problem if you landed on your hands and knees. My birthing ball popped the other day while I was on it- fell to the floor on my backside (side note: it's well worth double-checking they aren't over-inflated). I'm 39 weeks in. PAU were not concerned in the slightest.
Yeah I can't wait to be a bit further along, to the stage when something could actually be done if things did go wrong! I'll remember the birthing ball inflation got future reference too! Thank you x

@Dan17 haha easy done :) glad everything's ok xx

Lozz22 · 03/10/2020 21:54

Some of the comments to my reply last night really upset me and last night I was seriously considering deleting Mumsnet, but after a lot of thinking I have decided to stay and continue to tell my experience to others

Bl0ndi3 · 03/10/2020 23:49

@Lozz22 hopefully you'll think about how you word things though and take on board what's been said so you don't upset people unnecessarily. 👍🏻

Lozz22 · 04/10/2020 01:02

@Bl0ndi3 Well hopefully some people will think before tearing into someone who lost her Baby after an accident. At the end of the day I didn't have to put about what happened to me but I did because people need to realise, that not everything is peachy and rosy during Pregnancy and if someone had told me the same thing after I had, had a minor bump in my car I would've been extremely grateful for their advice not told them they were being harsh because of it

hopsalong · 04/10/2020 01:14

OP, sound like you've been very sensible. The same sort of thing has happened to a lot of us and any fall that isn't into the stomach or severe enough to cause real injury/ shock is unlikely to cause any harm.

Very sad story from poster who lost her baby last year. But (as a veteran of kidney infections) I wonder if the accident was a consequence of the infection (I have twice broken a BONE when I have had a kidney infection from weird clumsiness) which was itself the cause of the pregnancy loss?

Fruitloops34 · 04/10/2020 08:56

@Bl0ndi3 - Just had to get the last word in.

lljkk · 04/10/2020 09:12

fwiw, I've had lots of falls when pg, including in weeks 35+, & no pregnancy losses or even minor harm. Life isn't fair and all that. I don't worry much & felt normal enough afterwards so didn't have anyone check me.

jamie980 · 04/10/2020 09:28

I fell over running at 19 weeks. Called triage and they weren’t concerned as I hadn’t taken any impact to my bump - they did ask my blood type though and apparently if you are rhesus negative they might sometimes recommend an injection of some kind as a precaution against bleeding. I had my 20 week scan a few days later and all is fine. I’m sure you’ll be okay but if you’re in any doubt at all give them a ring - they were so lovely and reassuring with me x

jamie980 · 04/10/2020 09:32

Very sorry for your sad loss @Lozz22 - sending love x

Lozz22 · 04/10/2020 17:10

@hopsalong

Lozz22 · 04/10/2020 17:30

@hopsalong sorry hit send before actually writing anything. Having the minor prang was just sheer misfortune in someone parking in the wrong place. I'd gone to park in between my OHs HGV and a car. Unfortunately the car was parked where it shouldn't have been and blocking part of the road off. The road is already narrow as it is so I had to come in at angle which meant his front bumper ended up in my blind spot and just above the rear wheel arch of my car scraped it. The driver was in the car waiting for his wife to finish shopping so could've easily moved his car back when he saw me indicating to pull in. He knew my OH wasn't in the Truck because he'd seen him go back into the store to get his paperwork. Even if my OH was sat in the cab he wouldn't have been able to move his Truck back due to the tail lift breaking and jammed onto the floor
