They don't hurt Just feel really odd. I'm getting them allot at night but they are little and often (lasts about 5 minutes then stop). I was just walking around the house today and go two big shooting twinges.
Just wondering why this is happening is it normal?

I used to get them loads with ds2. I am sure there will be threads on here from me in late 2005/early 2005

Head starting to go into the pelvis I reckon - getting ready to be engaged.

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:01

popscal- tried to search your convos with no joy, can't seem to find the thread your refering to. If you could link it for me that
would be really lovely!

I will have a search but on reflection, I fear i will have posted it in ;chat' so it will have vanished

BuzzOffThatsMyWitch · 10/10/2007 18:03

I used to get this occasionally...hurts like hell. I'm sure they are perfectly normal.

popsycal · 10/10/2007 18:04

Does it feel like a knitting needle up the fanjo?

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:05

I don't think it's SPD as it doesn't hurt just feels odd is the only way i can describe it. It's a twinge but its travelling up.

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:09

But i'm starting to think that its maybe beacause i have a high pain
threshold, as people on my November thread have had painful BH but mine don't seem to hurt.

Or would i really know about it if it was SPD?

knitting needle?

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:14

I guess but not really painful i can imagine a knitting needle being really painful.

it sounds like the baby's head bouncing on your cervix to me

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/10/2007 18:17

I am going to absilutely die once i hjave typed this, but this is how I worded it to the MW when trying to describe it to her whilst preg with Ds2:

'It feels like the pain I get when Dh gets carried away and hits 'the top'.....usually from the rear'

Does it feel like a shooting pain in your cervix?

Oh the shame, the shame......

mummy2olivia · 10/10/2007 18:20

babys head engaging- f**king hurts and makes you gasp.

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:22

LOl, Yeah something like that, its like that funny fealing you get with deep thrusting.
(like you can feel it in your tummy) It's a bit lower than that but the same feeling like a twinge inside.

Pheebe · 10/10/2007 18:22

I'm getting this too, like an electric shock. My mw said it was babies head engaging and pressing down on the cervix. A good sign apparently

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:24

I doesn't mean its coming anytime soon does it?

OP posts:
LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/10/2007 18:24

Ooh yes! Glad my shame has helped!
It is fine, it is the baby coming down and engaging.
Sometimes it goes back up, which you are less aware of, depending on how big the babe is, then goes back down.

Makes you jump doesn't it?!!

LOL

Except you ca't slap anyone for it....

No dont panic!

I had it start around 34-36 weeks with ds2 as he was so long and big, there was nowhere for him to move except downwards....

berrybliss · 10/10/2007 18:28

LOL- Thankyou LadyOfTheFlowers you have made me giggle.

i get pains down there im overdue now. feels like someone is puching me rrom the inside

GoodGollyMissMolly · 11/10/2007 11:47

I have been getting these pains since about 28/9 weeks, I am now 35+3. they dont half take your breath away, do they!!!!!!!
I didn't know what they were till I came on this thread, so babys head engaging, that could be interesting

Eaglebird · 11/10/2007 11:52

I'm 38+2 and when I walk about I feel like my tummy muscles are going to give way, and my innards are going to fall out. Asked the midwife about it yesterday, and she had a feel and says the baby is 3/5 engaged in the pelvis which is why I get these feelings.
I feel like an arthritic whale at the moment.
