Nurse comment on girls naming trend

Had my consultant appointment and had my bloods taken. The nurse who took my blood was curious to know if boy/girl and if we have names. She commented she's heard quite a lot of old fashioned names lately such as: Florence, Norah, maeve, mabel.
Wdyt? Have you found similar in your area? Is it a style you would consider? (South Wales here)

Yes, old lady names are definitely a trend here (NW england). We've gone for what I'd say is a "classic" name rather than old-fashioned - Caroline.

We’re in Cheshire and I definitely think the old ones are more common now and they’re really nice! We’re considering Francesca as it’s quite uncommon lately around here, not as old as the others but we like how it can be shortened to Frankie if desired!

I have two children with old fashioned names. Amongst friends we have a few Alberts, an Ernest, and a Wilfred (born last year, not mates with BoJo!). I'm a fan.

Yes, I've noticed it here and a lot on MN. The granny names are making a come back.

Infact grandpa names too.

DS is nearly 12, those types of names have been popular since at least that long ago!

Ada, Florence, Ava, Darcey etc.

Grandparent names have been growing in popularity for years now.

I am not generally a fan but I do like names like Ada, Florence and Norah.

I'm less a fan of some of the more popular and cutesy names. Especially nicknames on birth certificates.

I really dislike Ernest (Ernie) and Wilfred (Wilf) though. Fred (for Frederick) is nicer.

My niece's friends (3/4 year-old s) are Pearl, Betty and Ida. Her name is Grace. I half expect them to have a knitting club (joking)

We have a Ruby, Florence and a Hazel in close friends/family, they’re all aged over 8.

I know babies called Florence, Agnes, Daphne, Elsie and Betsy so I'd say those types of names are pretty popular, yes.

Daphne is lovely. I know one (aged 5). It's quite unusual though, I don't think there are enough grandmas called Daphne to make it an "old lady" name?

I actually think they're on their way back out again around here? I know lots of people with 5-10yr olds with 'granny' names but can't think of anyone I know with a young baby with one.

I love Ivy but can’t persuade DH! Definitely hear a lot of these though- I know of a Betty, Florence, Valerie, Mary, Maggie...I think they’re beautiful names!

Annie, Grace, Emily, Margot, Edie (Edith) and Florence were the preschool mafia in my last class.

Christopher, Dougie, Alfred, Stanley and Freddie always struggled to keep up

I think it's been a trend for quite a while. There are many girls called Florence, Matilda, Violet, Ivy and Grace in my 12 year olds school.
