Not sure if that’s reassuring @WhoUsedMyName. Might make a change from the MUMMUMMUMMUM I’m getting constantly now.

@Onekidnoclue @SnookyPook Thank you so, so much. I really needed those hugs yesterday. The doc changed my sickness meds to Ondansetron yesterday and so far (fingers crossed) they seem to be working better! Hope you're all doing well! Xx

blueskiesandapples · 25/07/2020 09:21

And yes this is my first and I'm still working full time from home but had to take 3 days sick this week as I was such a useless mess. Just holding on to the hope it will pass soon, but mostly if these new drugs continue to work I'm looking forward to liquid and food! Xxx

SnookyPook · 25/07/2020 13:33

@blueskiesandapples aw brilliant! Fingers crossed for you that these new meds keep working. It must be so miserable to be so poorly all the time. Hopefully this is the turning point and you can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy! 😊

Hi

I am new to Mumsnet I am having a January baby. Just been told by the midwife I have low Papp-a anyone else in the same boat? I've been advised to take 150mg aspirin I M scared of taking this due to the side effects it may cause.

Losing my mind googling any help please

Thanks

Opelbow · 25/07/2020 21:33

@SharonR88 a few of us on here are taking it I think. My mum was a midwife during the aspirin trials over 30 years ago. So it's been throughly tested.

123Phi · 25/07/2020 21:51

@SharonR88 I’m the same, they asked if I wanted to go in and talk about it, or they could send me the information. So I asked for them to email it, and once we did the research I felt much better. Apparently not all hospitals test for it, and so you wouldn’t even know and most times it wouldn’t be an issue at all. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and just taking the aspirin

Thank you that's reassuring. X

It's been stressing me out whether to take it or not. I was literally sent a leaflet in the post and the receptionist called to say my aspirin prescription was ready to collect. I'm hoping I get to speak to my midwife tomorrow x

123Phi · 25/07/2020 23:00

@SharonR88 let me know what she says!

blueskiesandapples · 26/07/2020 10:41

@SnookyPook thank you so much. It has been so, so miserable but, good news, I managed to eat fruit for the first time in weeks, wasn't sick for the first time in weeks, and got more than a pint of water in me! Big step forward! Just hoping it sticks! It's amazing the difference a bit of food and water make to morale! Hope you're doing really well. Xx

SnookyPook · 26/07/2020 11:22

@blueskiesandapples aw brilliant! Very happy for you! I feel a bit of a fraud at times as I had a very easy ride sickness-wise! It’s been the fatigue that has knocked me out! 14wks now and no burst of energy yet! But there are worse things than needing regular naps!

@SharonR88 I’ve been on 75mg baby aspirin since my 12wk scan and it’s been fine. No idea what my Papp-a is but my sister had preeclampsia and had a c-section at 35wks so apparently that raises my risk. My hubby is a doctor and isn’t worried about me being on it. It is a bit alarming at first having to take something but I guess the docs know what they are doing and it’s preferable to pre-eclampsia! 😊

Dspx · 26/07/2020 14:47

I’m on 150mg of Aspirin as my mum has preaclampsia with me and my sister been on it since 13week scan no side affects at all intact I was getting horrid headaches and they have stopped but that could be down to now taking a prenatal vitamin (couldn’t before as was on the high dose of folic acid and can’t take both) and being nearly 17 weeks. I would talk to your GP if your worried but sure they won’t prescribe anything without reason xx

SharonR88 · 26/07/2020 15:55

Thank you all for the low Papp-a aspirin comments I appreciate all your responses.

I will definitely call my Gp and midwife tomorrow.

On another note all that work have you informed your employers yet?

I haven't yet I am currently working from home due to the pandemic.

I wanted to wait until I've had my first scan before I told anyone and now I have low Papp-a I'm not sure when to tell my employer whether to wait until my next scan.

Thanks x

nchristie · 26/07/2020 18:30

Hi everyone, does anyone have advice about choosing where to get a private ultrasound? I was told by midwives that my baby is at risk of heart problems and that these can be checked using ultrasound from 14 weeks, but my next scan isn't until week 18. I'd be looking for somewhere which would be able to check the baby's heart and then coordinate with NHS if there's a problem. Thanks!

Hi only just seen this thread! I'm Due Jan 4th so 16 + 6 weeks. Hope everyone is doing ok.

footprintsintheslow · 26/07/2020 19:02

@Dspx I was on high dose folic acid and the midwife and GP both told me to carry on taking my pregnancy vitamin too.

@nchristie sorry I've never had a private scan but I think I'd be pushing via my GP or midwife to get this going through the nhs as they'll need to see everything for themselves anyway. This must be incredibly stressful for you. X

SnookyPook · 26/07/2020 21:43

@SharonR88 I told my boss after my 12wk scan. I was bizarrely nervous even though I was fairly certain she’d be great (she has 3 teenagers so has been there done that). Thankfully she was really excited for me and has said she will look into the process for HR etc. I work for a Uni so they are quite up on women in the workplace etc which is lucky. I know some women have a really tough time.

@nchristie I agree with @footprintsintheslow - if it’s health related I’d be pushing NHS - private ones get expensive. Never had one myself but have hear people mention ‘window to the womb’ - my understanding is that any private place has to liaise with your midwives etc if it relates to health issues. Best of luck with it all.

@198435years hello and welcome! 😁

littlefishes86 · 26/07/2020 21:59

Hey everyone,
Hoping your all well. I'm terrible at lurking on these things but thought I better say hello. Due date 10th Jan with our first. Pretty rough start but things seem to have settled now. Think it's made me a little anxious at times tho. Overanalysing seems to be my thing atm 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Finding it pretty hard to be excited to tell people due to our early scares but going for a wee private scan on Friday so the DH can share in the joy more and my mind can ease a little! Back to work in a couple of weeks which seems really surreal.

Hope your all having a good a Sunday!

Opelbow · 27/07/2020 07:44

I'm starting to get my energy back now.
Yesterday I was feeling like nesting. Got the tape measure out to figure out how to rearrange upstairs for the babies room.

198435years · 27/07/2020 07:56

@littlefishes86 We had early scares too, a previous MC and 4 years of trying so I know how you feel. I even worried I'd jinx it by joining an expecting Jan thread. Trying to relax into and enjoy it now. @Opelbow Same! I'm driving the husband mad. I'd like fitted wardrobes building so we can start to transform the same bedroom. Smile

Onekidnoclue · 27/07/2020 09:25

Hi everyone. I’m really hopeful now we’re in trimester two well all be feeling loads better! Might be blind optimism though!
I’m desperate to start feeling movements and keep thinking I can but pretty sure it’s actually wind 😳
I told my work and my boss is distinctly unimpressed. Despite four of his own he was very huffy and kept trying to get me to commit to a return date then and there. 🙄. I’m quite lucky I wasn’t expecting a great reaction so just kept saying “when I know I’ll tell you” like a broken record. Did fall into the trap of apologising a couple of times which I’m annoyed about but it’s so easy to do when someone huffing and I’m a people pleaser!

@198435years I'm hoping to start to relax a little after this scan 🤞🏻 but then I thought I might at 12 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

SnookyPook · 27/07/2020 10:56

@littlefishes86 welcome to the gang! I was really anxious up until my 12 wk scan as my sister had several losses including one mmc. Thankfully all was well and I’ve felt able to relax into it a bit more now. Just trying to be patient for the long wait until 20wks now!!

@Onekidnoclue ah that’s rubbish about your boss! What an arse! I completely get the apologising thing - crazy how naughty I felt regarding telling work! Like I’d done something terrible! If all goes well with this one I’ll probably be trying again within a couple of years too as already mid 30s so no time to dilly dally 😂 Think 2nd time round will feel even worse! Will worry about that when I get to it though! We are absolutely entitled to have families! ☺️
