By the way he even reacts like that if we see scan or hear a fetal doppler on TV - we have to change the channel. It's very sad.

It’s really interesting to hear different perspectives on it! I am really sorry to hear about your previous experience :-( I can see how that could lead to PTSD and reliving the trauma at every subsequent scan.
How far along are you?
I am sure that regardless of the petition restrictions will be lifted in some way anyway for areas where infection rates are continuing to fall. But it was reassuring being able to read the comments from people who felt similarly to me.
I have a private 12week scan booked in for August 1st anyway...it feels like such a long wait! Feeling more chilled about things that I thought I would though :-)

I’ve got my NHS scan date through this morning and it’s for 31st July. Seems like an age away!

I've got a private scan booked tomorrow, I'm 9 weeks. As partner can't come to the nhs ones, plus I've had lots of miscarriages so feel like I need the reassurance!

I just got off the phone call with my consultant and he mentioned that he wasn’t surprised I wasn’t told I had an appointment this morning given the current situation and things being hectic in the hospital setting. He was nice enough and wanted to offer me an elective section for week 38 already (I’m 9+4 so a long way off yet 😂)

Hoping you all have nice sticky pregnancies and that all our respective NHS trusts start letting birth partners come to scans!

Had my private scan today, all was good! 8 weeks 4 days, growing as it should be and heart beat seen. Was really nice! I feel much more relaxed now. Hope everyone is well.

@misssoaps that’s lovely to hear! I have a private scan this coming Saturday, 17 days after my last nhs one, and I can feel my anxiety growing by the day! 😬 I’m about 8+5/6 today.

Hi all

Thought I’d join in on this thread as also due Feb.
We had a private scan, I’m still waiting to hear back from the NHS!

Checking in for my periodical moan 😂

Been having some horrid nausea - triggered by everything, heaving a lot but never actually sick.
Feeling generally like absolute death.

But in the last week I thought I'd cracked it: husband brought be banana (not a euphemism) in bed every morn, i have lots of mints stashed to suck on throughout the day, wearing the acupuncture bands. To the point yesterday I thought this phase of pregnancy was finally over. I felt nearly normal again! I was so relieved.

Cue this morn, and while the nausea is nowhere near as bad as it had been, I've done my first sick! Hope this doesn't set a precedent for the next few weeks. 😩

Hope everyone else is feeling ok and getting better by the day!

@IamC I feel exactly as you describe it's awful!! It's almost hard to describe but i just feel yuck all the time. This is my 5th and I've felt this way with all of them and I've still not found a way to help! I normally feel this way till about 16 weeks, I'm only 9 at the mo 😳

Report
IamC · 13/07/2020 13:07

@misssoaps your 5th? Not sure I'd even contemplate a 2nd after feeling like this with my first 😂

Well done you for being strong through them all. And I hope you feel better soon!

@IamC @misssoaps

I have been feeling the same! You think you have cracked it but then it jumps out of no where! Today i have headache and feeling like iv got a hangover! So tired even though I had over 8 hours last night!

But I know if i had no symptoms id be worrying either way you just cant win! Even though thats totally normal to 🙈

Hope you are all ok,

Xx

@IamC I mostly whinge through the whole pregnancy to be honest 🤣.
@Gonesurfing yep that's true, if I didn't feel like it I'd probably worry! One thing I find makes me sickness worse is if I let myself get hungry! So I carry snacks with me everywhere lol

IamC · 13/07/2020 18:11

@Gonesurfing @misssoaps hehe yes I think I would moan if it was no symptoms too 😂

Tentatively joining....
New to Mumsnet & pregnancy.
1st one, think 10+5, first scan a week tmrw.
Definitely in the not believing phase, despite boob pain/growth, ?round ligament pain, nausea, bloating, wicked sense of smell and an inability to stand up quickly.

Just over 10 weeks and can't believe my tummy, I look really pregnant and I'm not even convinced it's bloat because it's there all the time even when I breath in. This is pre pregnancy Vs 10 weeks. Anyone else like this? Perhaps because I was petite to start with it's just more obvious?

@Mermaidlagoon that’s 100% bloat I’m afraid. At 10 weeks your uterus is about the size of a grapefruit and still low down behind your pelvic bone. I was like it during my first pregnancy and then the bloat changed to a little bump at about 16 weeks and it was a noticeable difference 😅

Report
misssoaps · 14/07/2020 13:13

Was going to say the same as @Thegirlhasnoname . Definitely bloat. It's normal to be a bit thicker round the waist early on but your uterus hasn't come up that far yet.

I've got a private scan (my first one) tomorrow at 11+3, because partners aren't allowed at my 12 week one. I'm really nervous there's going to be no heartbeat. I feel pregnant - have all the symptoms, but can't shift this horrible feeling. Trying to be positive.

Report
Peach1204 · 14/07/2020 14:05

@SunSparkle hope tomorrow goes well. My scan is on Saturday (8+3 then) and I'm worried too. Xxx

Ladies, I've just had my 12 week scan date confirmed - 30th July, but I'll only be 11+2 then. Would you all announce then, or shall I book a scan for a couple of weeks after that? It seems so early! I've had 2 missed miscarriages so I feel I should err on the side of caution.

Snorlax86 · 14/07/2020 15:40

Good luck to everyone who has scans coming up. Scanxiety is a real thing, I can’t wait until we can take partners in with us, even just for emotional support rather than for their benefit 😂

In terms of announcing a pregnancy, I would say, do it whenever it feels right for you, whether that’s before a 12 week scan, after, at 20 weeks or even no announcement other than telling close friends and family. It’s such a personal decision xx

I know with my first baby I waited until after the 20 week scan to put it on social media that we were expecting and will probably do the same with this one. If I remember correctly, I told people face to face after the screening results had come back from my 12 week scan showing low risk for pataus and Edwards syndrome (just because they are usually non compatible with life, I couldn’t care less if baby had downs but I’m doing the screening for the other two!)

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 14/07/2020 15:58

I've actually got a private scan booked for when I am 15 weeks so I think it's probably a good idea to wait for that one. Thanks for your input ladies, you've made my head a little clearer!

I have a private scan booked for Saturday when I’ll be 9+5. I have terrible anxiety. Having nightmares about miscarrying most nights. I’ve had two nhs scans, last one was at 7 weeks. So glad my partner can be there for the private one.
