Which pram 2020?

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can give me a little advice, I need to get a pram I’m due in 8weeks. Haven't really been out in the shops at all so no idea where to start. Its my first baby, my budget is around £2000. I already have a Doona for quick trips I just need an idea on what would be a good all rounder. I was looking at the Stokke Trailz but would like some recommendations.

Thanks Smile

We are going to go for the Bugaboo Fox I think

ballsdeep · 20/06/2020 13:45

Uppa baby vista

LexiM · 20/06/2020 13:51

We’ve gone for the UppaBaby Vista v2. Baby isn’t here yet but all seems very spacious, easy to use and big basket!

Silver cross pioneer looks good and it was out of that and venicci for me I went with the venicci pure stone grey travel system

From someone who’s sold their overly expensive first pram, now pregnant again and looking at options, I’d suggest.

  1. Half your budget at least
  2. Test drive them all and find the lightest
  3. Look at storage space I house and in your car.
  4. I’m a fan of the Baby Jogger but know that’s not for everyone.
  5. Buy based on usage 6m+ not newborn. So many babies outgrow the bassinet so quickly.
  6. Consider secondhand; so many of the ones mentioned are for sale almost brand new.
glasshalfsomething · 20/06/2020 13:54

And avoid the pioneer. Heavy, and doesn’t hold its value.

TK1930 · 20/06/2020 13:57

Baby jogger, uppababy or Joolz Smile

Sunshineandmoonlight · 20/06/2020 13:58

I actually think if I were doing it all again I’d get the babyyoyo zen with newborn option. For longevity, travel, ease of use. If it’s just the one baby

Wudgy · 20/06/2020 14:06

Oyster 2

Twizbe · 20/06/2020 14:07

We had a stokke crusi with my first and I loved the huge basket and the height (we're tall) BUT it didn't fit in our car very well and the double option is awful.

We got a second hand uppababy vista when I had our second. LOVE IT so wish we'd got that first time round. Big basket as well and the double configuration was really good. Fits in the car better too.

I walk everywhere so a big basket is useful.

Skyla01 · 20/06/2020 14:16

Following with interest. A budget of £2000 sounds like an awful lot though!

Lillian2019 · 20/06/2020 14:24

@glasshalfsomething - Thank you so much this seems pretty useful!

I’m looking at the uppababy vista or a baby jogger summit - we are rural so bigger wheels are probably a better option for us - off roading!

Beau2020 · 20/06/2020 14:27

We went with the Egg Travel system which was about £1300 altogether xx

HappyPotato · 20/06/2020 14:28

Where will you be taking it? Have you got a big boot? Storage space?

We've got the bugaboo fox which I love, it's good on trails and around town as well as switching into two wheels so you can drag it along the beach, really spacious and the bassinet lasted ages.. but it isn't the most compact fold so takes up a fair chunk of storage room.

BadAlice · 20/06/2020 14:32

I think it massively depends on what you need it for.

We went for a Out N About Nipper Sport with the carry cot for newborn stage. Used a sling the vast majority of the time and just used the pushchair for longer days out and running once he was older. We live rurally so it was good to have something that could handle fields, forests, mud, potholes etc. If needed. It would be wholly impractical if you wanted to use it for shopping trips and public transport.

TeddyTeddy · 20/06/2020 14:44

If you’re going to spend a lot on a pram I would really recommend considering if you’ll have more children. I have two under two. Absolutely loved my uppababy Cruz but the vista is not much biggger and it’s a shame now that I’ve had to buy a double pram.

Lillian2019 · 20/06/2020 14:57

Yes, we have a Range so we have lots of car space, I run around a lot so thats why I got a a Doona. I live in London so I dont have a lot of storage in the house. Defiantly want more children but will mainly be using it for days out, walks to the park etc. I think the Uppa baby seems to be the most practical from reviews

Ooh check out JuniorJones prams. I've got one they are gorgeous. Very compact and light and lovely to push. I think they do 15% off if u sign up to their newsletter.

Lillian2019 · 20/06/2020 15:13

@bananasbananas This is so beautiful

I meant to add I used to have an icandy peach but it was so chunky and heavy compared. The JuniorJones ones are slim enough to fit through the standard barriers on the underground too Grin. Seat is suitable from birth so you dont have to buy the bassinet if u dont want to.

BananasBananas · 20/06/2020 15:15

I've taken it on woodland trails, into the city everywhere. It's been great.

DontStandSoClose · 20/06/2020 15:30

I spent £1500 on a joolz with my first baby, although it looks lovely it isn’t all that practical really in terms of the space it takes up and we have a big car. It’s a nightmare to put up and down too and heavy. We retired it after 12 months and then had a second baby when the first was only 18 months old so had to then buy a double. It wasn’t pretty like the joolz but 100% more practical. I actually really wish I’d bought a single that could convert into a double and something far more lightweight and compact. We then ended up buying a 3rd pram for holidays too that folds small, the fb-pocket.

I’m now pregnant again and although I still have the joolz I don’t think I’ll be digging it out from under the stairs (my husband isn’t impressed, he’s suggested we open a pram shop, we have 4 as it is!). I think I’m going to get a babyzen yoyo for this one, I just love how compact it is and you can still attach a car seat. I will still keep my double, It’s an off-road pram (mountain buggy) my youngest will only be 3 when this one arrives so he may well still want to get in on very long walks.

I think everyone wants a pretty overpriced pram for their first born but not many people use them beyond 12 months, some even retire them after 6. We still think we were mad how much we spent on the first pram, I guess pram companies know new parents think that ££ means better, in my experience it was the most overpriced and impractical pram ever, looked great though.

doadeer · 20/06/2020 15:38

Lots of people in London have the bugaboo Bee or babyzen yo-yo.

You really Would be best trying a couple out now the shops are open

clemmie83 · 20/06/2020 16:00

We're going for the bugaboo fox2, ticks all the boxes for us!
