Hello All,

Had my first antenatal virtual class last week which was amazing. They recommended a tens machine for labour. Anyone got one? Do you recommend them? Did it help?

I highly highly recommend one - ask your friends with children if anyone has one and they’ll probably lend it to you - the pads are disposable so you can buy your own and buy the owner a fresh set to return it with, you’ll still have saved money on buying a tens. I’ve got a friend who bought one and about 6 of us have used it!!

I found it to be an irritating faff. I recommend the book Birth Skills by JoJo Mundin (sorry that's probably not right but something like that). I did pregnancy yoga too and got some good ideas from Hypno birthing. All the best. My births were not without challenges but hands down the best experience of my life.

I used the Boots one and found it helpful and inexpensive. My husband used it after for a back injury too and also found it helpful!

It depends on the labour... Mine went from 0-10 in pain in an hour, and I found the tens machine just irritated me! Didn't even touch the pain.

But I could imagine it would be great if your labour didn't start as intensely as mine did, if there was a gradual build up. Friends have sworn by them
