Which pram will you be getting?

So many prams, prices vary massively too. Does anyone know what pram they will be getting? Or already got there’s?
I don’t even know where to start to be honest Grin so thought I’d see what’s recommended on here.

We've gone for the Egg but have got
It second hand and in great condition for half the original price.

Baby number 3 for me so I'm trying to get some things second hand rather than buying new all over again.

smeerf · 18/04/2020 21:03

I think these are the main points to think about:
How will you be travelling (car/bus/walking/tube)?
Are you planning a second within the next 3ish years (and therefore want something convertible to a double)?
How big is your car?
Do you have step free access to your property or do you have to navigate stairs?

mummyje20 · 18/04/2020 21:06

I got the (HATE the name) Ickle Bubba (🤢) v3 travel system.
It folds nicely, looks smart, comes with isofix base etc. I got it for £400- that includes frame, bassinet, car seat, isofix base, seat, shade and bag.
It's small enough to fit in my boot and I live in London so it's compact enough to get on buses etc :)

Rosabuddy · 18/04/2020 21:07

Look at things like where do you live and what will you be using the pram for. If you don’t have a car and live inner Cory where you will be using public transport then something compact would be a better choice. If you have a car and space isn’t a issue then a larger one with more more storage in the actual pram could be good for you.

Iv gone for the uppababy vista. I have a golf so plenty of boot space and I will be using the pram part as a daytime bed downstairs so that was one of the reasons I got it. It also has good wheels for rough terrain which I wanted as I have a dog and like walking him a lot in country parks etc
It has a big basket but underneath which I wanted too.

Clementine8 · 18/04/2020 21:11

I’ve got the baby jogger city mini, it’s 2nd hand and we’ve got a new carrycot for it. I really wanted the new style but can’t really afford it at the moment with DH having just lost his job.

smeerf · 18/04/2020 21:14

I got the Silver Cross Wayfarer which is their smaller travel system, came with bassinet, pushchair, car seat, nappy bag for £600. I barely used the car seat on the travel system frame (it's bad for tiny babies breathing to be in a car seat too long) and it can't be turned into a double so maybe wasn't the best choice for us. We live in London and normally I'm out on the bus/train/tube every day so something small and light like the Babyzen Yo-yo would have been better.

The Wayfarer does fit a good shop underneath it though which you'd never get with the Yoyo. My friends iCandy Peach, you can get a whole week's shopping in the basket, it's massive. However if you do all your supermarket shopping in the car, then that's not something you need to worry about.

Cosatto Giggle full travel system - good reviews, great price and currently have a sale on!

Jojo19834 · 18/04/2020 21:24

I’m getting a second hand Egg. I live in a town and will use the car a lot. Have a big boot so don’t have to think about size. Excited about this purchase lol

Historyofeverything1 · 18/04/2020 21:43

I never had a pram/travel system with my first - just had a stroller /pushchair which was suitable from birth. Was brilliant so lightweight, easy to get into shops especially the small village shops, could take it on holiday and didn't take up much room in the car boot/porch.
With Dt had a tandem travel system was great for getting around rather than a side by side pram however it was so heavy and we lived in a hilly area. When they got bigger I bought a lightweight double pushchair.
I'd say think about the height of the handle bars and who's going to be pushing it most, what do you think you'll use it most for, how often will you use it, where will you store it, how bigs your car, can you set it up easily, how easy to get it in and out of the car.
Many mums end up buying a lightweight pushchair with in about a year so think about cost if it's only for a short period of time.

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 18/04/2020 21:47

I’m currently pregnant with my second but we got a Numa Demi Grow with my first - it’s a single pram but you can add the bassinet and the pushchair seat onto the same base so it becomes a double. Mine will only have 23 months age difference so it’s really handy to not have to buy a new pram and it’s still quite small and compact to fit both. I’d really recommend if you’re likely to have another while the first might be in a pushchair.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 18/04/2020 21:54

We have the Jane Trider because it has a lie flat car seat on an isofix base. DS is now nearly 2 and the pushchair attachment which came with it is still plenty big enough for at least another couple of years.

Mj2196 · 18/04/2020 22:00

This is our last baby so we’ve pushed the boat out and got the Just black egg travel system . Pushed the nicest in the shop Lol, Can’t wait to unbox it in a few weeks

KnobwithaK · 18/04/2020 22:17

Same as @Clementine8 - 2nd hand baby jogger city mini (£100 - bargain) with a new bassinet. Will also have to get a car seat but will get a pretty basic one (don't have a car so it's just for taxis).

sel2223 · 18/04/2020 22:48

Jools Day 3. Second hand, immaculate condition.

Pentium85 · 18/04/2020 23:09

I love any Bugaboos, pricey but great.

3 of my friends all had the Silver Cross wayfarers and moaned constantly amount them. And having got a silver cross surf as a pram for at the in laws, I agreed with them. The build comes no where near to the bugaboos.

Heard good things about baby joggers.

Really depends on where you live/how big your car is/budget etc

inuinnit · 18/04/2020 23:10

Pregnant with my second. We went all out and bought a full new icandy travel system for my first - compatible car seat, bassinet and pram. It pushes and handles beautifully but is massive and my daughter was never a huge fan of sitting in a pushchair so we didn't use it as much as we thought. We also had a Doona for travel when she was little and then when she grew out of that bought a mountainbuggy nano for travel.

Doing it again the second time, we've only bothered getting the Doona out. It's so compact and user friendly and is an amazing car seat solution for travel and moving between cars/taxis. It's my favourite of the three prams I've got by a mile and I was genuinely devastated when she grew out of it. Only thing is that it has the 2.5hr car seat limit, but as she would never sit in a pram for more than 20 minutes without kicking off that wasn't a problem for us. Always ended up using the baby carrier/sling a lot more than a pram anyway.

Nfblues · 18/04/2020 23:14

Really wanted an Egg but couldn’t justify the price DH didn’t feel it being pretty was enough to spend an extra £300+ sadly so we went for a Mamas and Papas flip xt3. We had heard so many good things about the Ocarro but it was a little heavy for me to lift so went for the Flip as it’s very similar but more lightweight. We got a good deal and ordered it on interest free credit. Hopefully Mamas and Papas survives the corona situation and doesn’t go bust before July when it’s due to arrive!!

heroineinahalfshell · 18/04/2020 23:38

I'm still weighing up the Bugaboo Bee and the Mamas and Papas Flip XT. I have a back injury and we have steps up to our front door, so lightness is key! I think we'll probably end up with the Flip as it's cheaper, but I do love the coral & black bugaboo....

mamansnet · 18/04/2020 23:39

Shameless placemarking! Got a 2nd hand Mothercare travel system for DS1, it weighs a ton and fills half the boot so we might leave it with the PILs for when we visit there and get a lightweight one for the house.

Also have already got a Recaro buggy which is for 6 months onwards,so it's just the first few months I'll need something that can lie flat, so reluctant to shell out. Any ideas? TIA!

artistformerlyknownas · 18/04/2020 23:45

We considered the Silver Cross Pioneer and the M&P Flip XT3 but went with Ickle Bubba Stomp v3 in the end. Really happy with it for now, hopefully DD will think the same!

Mistymeow · 19/04/2020 04:40

I use the uppababy cruz which is lighter than the vista (I’m very petite) and really like it as it’s robust but practical and has a spacious basket. I got it for £475 from John Lewis (shopped around and got them to price match) and my friend gave me her bassinet which my baby sleeps in (she snubbed her crib!).

BelfastNonBlonde · 19/04/2020 04:54

Out and About Nipper, with borrowed bassinet.
I wanted to buy second hand but Covid lockdown was just starting so we managed to buy it and maxi Cosi car seat on offer from a small local shop the Saturday before lockdown which I’m happy about.

Megan2018 · 19/04/2020 04:59

I have the iCandy All Terrain, it’s lovely. We are rural though and need big wheels.

I have the Nuna Lite car seat for it as it is so light, I’ve used it so much compared to those that chose heavier car seats. My baby is 7 months and still easy to lift.

LatteLover12 · 19/04/2020 08:50

We haven't bought ours yet but I think I've narrowed it down to the Bugaboo Fox or the M&P Occaro.

I don't want to buy online though so I'm hoping M&P reopens before baby arrives in September!

1990shopefulftm · 19/04/2020 09:13

I'm really not sure what to go for as it's our first baby, we're hoping to come under £400, we would be using the car a bit but I might need something that works on the bus as well when DH is at work, so i m thinking 3 wheeled travel systems but i m not sure if its worth it?
