Hi
I've been reading mix message, are baby wipes like water wipes ok to use on a newborn, I've read they are and then I've read baby wipes are not recommended for newborns ? Just wondering if anyone used baby wipes on there new born or if most people stuck to cotton wool, also if you didn't use baby wipes on newborn when did you start to use them ?

Cheeky wipes, we have had over 3 years of use from ours. Bottoms when a baby. Now he is potty trained we still use them for hands abd faces, and as family cloth when we couldn't get loo roll a few weeks ago

I used water wipes for the first three months, expensive but highly recommend them.

I used a big roll of cotton wool with a bowl of water. Just pulled some off into small handfuls so had some ready to go.

I plan on just using wipes, I did with my first. Think we had both water wipes and Aldi mamia sensitive - which we still use now. Huggies wipes are horrid! Gave DD terrible nappy rash and are literally like soggy toilet roll.

Used cotton wool for the first 3 months, then water wipes.

Water wipes are absolutely fine a newborn.

Other wipes are packed with so much crap that I wouldn't dare go near a newborn with them

Pippinsqueak · 18/04/2020 12:43

Aldi's sensitive 59p never an issue

Pentium85 · 18/04/2020 12:45

@Princesspickle777

I agree, Huggies are a load of crap

PotteringAlong · 18/04/2020 12:47

I just used normal supermarket own wet wipes with all 3 of mine from birth.

I used cotton wool for the first dirty nappy - complete faff. Then water wipes for the first two weeks and then the mamia sensitive - I’ve found them to be the best by far and great value. Agree with pp huggies are rubbish.

I used biodegradable wipes in hospital and made my own fleece wipes for at home which are great and so cheap to make.

Megan2018 · 18/04/2020 13:06

Waterwipes in hospital but cloth wipes with water at home.
I loathe disposable wipes with a passion, cloth are vastly superior at cleaning poo!

Another vote for cheeky wipes. Ours are still going strong after 3 kids.

MichelleOR84 · 18/04/2020 13:12

I used water wipes for going out as they were more convenient but used cotton wool and water at home .

This is what was recommended to me by my health visitor. She said water wipes were okay but not ideal and it’s best to use just pure water with cotton as a newborn .

By about 8 weeks we were using water wipes all the time however my little one does not have sensitive skin and has only had two nappy rashes ever ( he's 14 months 😯)!

Colouringinbook · 18/04/2020 13:27

Aldi sensitive since birth. Never had any problems.

Goldenmother · 18/04/2020 13:43
