Morning ladies just wondering if any of you had looked at this or has had one before, would you recommend getting one?

I had one, it's the best bit of kit I had for DS! Definitely worth it

Cacaca · 15/04/2020 11:11

Yes! I wouldn’t even know where to begin making bottles without it.

Rodent01 · 15/04/2020 11:13

Get get get.

LetTheCabbagesDie · 15/04/2020 11:14

Best £100 I spent on maternity leave

Connie222 · 15/04/2020 11:29

I had one with Dd 6 years ago and will be getting another for this baby.

They are brilliant. No fading around in the middle of the night.

They do tend to bring out anger in people for some reason though! I’ve been on a few threads where people say they are the lazy option etc. Never understood it!

Connie222 · 15/04/2020 11:29

*no faffing

LetTheCabbagesDie · 15/04/2020 11:35

Yep, I'll take the "lazy" option all day long. No room for competitive-martyrs with a little hungry baby waiting

That and my sleepyhead were my best purchases. It is amazing!

Treaclepie19 · 15/04/2020 11:42

I had one and loved it. I have read that they're not advised by midwives now but I will likely use one again.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 15/04/2020 11:43

Make sure to follow the cleaning instructions and you'll be fine. Usually you get loadsof people piling in to talk about mould issues- these only happen if you use wrong filters and don't clean the machine. We had no issues, but I only used it for the first 3-4 months when we had to give many bottles, after that with fewer ones, and with fewer night feedings, it was easier to just have cold water in the fridge and mix it with boiling water from the kettle.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 15/04/2020 11:45

Best purchase I ever made. I did follow the exact cleaning instructions and did that every month and always used the correct filter and I had no mould issues at all. I changed the filter as soon as the light came on.

LunaHardy · 15/04/2020 11:47

Best thing I ever had for dd! Didn't have one for my ds who is now 12, noticed the difference massively! Just be sure to use branded (tommee tippee) filters!

Selfsettling3 · 15/04/2020 11:49

If you are not breast feeding it’s absolutely amazing. If you are planning on breast feeding or combination feeding then I wouldn’t bother.

Marpan · 15/04/2020 11:52

I used the pre made instant formula. It doesn’t need mixed at all. It’s more expensive but so much easier.

I bought one and didn’t use it once. There is a lot of information about these machines and how they can’t be properly cleaned.

switswoo81 · 15/04/2020 11:57

I used one 5 years ago with Dd1 and again two years ago. Was going to pass it on so dh opened up the back not a trace of mould. Always used proper filters as soon as light came on.
Best baby buy, made life so much easier.

woollylizard · 15/04/2020 12:03

Absolutely brilliant

Colouringinbook · 15/04/2020 12:37

It is one of the greatest inventions of all time. An absolute life saver - especially if you end up with a hungry one like mine who'd sometimes fancy an extra mini bottle as a dessert!

JenDaw · 15/04/2020 12:51

Yes! Had one for DS1, and got another last week in readiness for arrival of DS2. Had no issues with mould- used until we went onto cows milk! John Lewis also have them for £60 :)

EssElsiee · 15/04/2020 12:52

I posted on my fb asking if they were worth it a while ago and literally
About 15 mums said absolutely get one!! So that sold it for me. X

Keyboard91 · 15/04/2020 12:54

We have 2....! One upstairs and one downstairs.

DS goes from 0 to starving in 5 seconds flat it feels like so a bottle in less than 2 minutes is a godsend. Family member is a MW and said as long as you check the hot shot is over 70 (we check weekly), clean regularly and use Tommee Tippee filters when they need changing then they are fine! Just be sensible and check regularly.

happymummy12345 · 15/04/2020 13:05

I don't think it's needed at all. I wouldn't ever have it. As for making them up I know it's not recommended now but I did it the old fashioned way. Emptied and refilled kettle, boiled it and left it to cool for 30 minutes to reach the correct temperature to make bottles, added the water then equivalent number of flat scoops of powder. Shook them well, then left to cool naturally at room temperature. When cool I stored them in the fridge, they can be kept for up to 24 hours. To warm up I used boiling water and a plastic jug (we had a flask full it boiling water for going out).
I think it's so much easier than messing about making them as needed. And I know most people use the perfect prep machine but sorry to me that's laziness, you don't need a machine to make bottles in my opinion. I'd only ever make them the old fashioned way, regardless of what's recommended.

LetTheCabbagesDie · 15/04/2020 13:10

but sorry to me that's laziness

What's wrong with finding convenient ways to ease ones life with a small baby?

Em1151 · 15/04/2020 13:13

Best thing we ever got! Only thing I’d do differently is get it earlier next time!
