No, mine have all gone ahead so far. Had one last week...and got another on Tuesday which has been confirmed x

Quiffy · 04/04/2020 09:40

My consultant appointment went ahead as normal earlier in the week, I think they are keeping those for most areas. My 16 week appointment with midwife will be over the phone though.

Brightonmaman · 04/04/2020 09:53

My 8 week appointment was over the phone. No bloods and no urine tests done. They will be done at my 12 week scan which has now been postponed to a 13 week scan due to staff shortages. I've booked a private scan next week as I would like to check all is ok. It's a difficult time all round OP. I would imagine your consultant appointment will go ahead as planned x

UrsulaSings · 04/04/2020 11:20

In my area they are only seeing women after 28 weeks face to face and all others are telephone.

Delbelleber · 04/04/2020 11:21

I had my mw appointment yesterday at the surgery but she said my consultant appointment next week will be over the phone, but I have to wait till I hear from the hospital to confirm that, probably on the morning of the appointment.

Rosabuddy · 04/04/2020 11:36

All my midwife ones will be over the phone, I was told this last week. My 25 week one was cancelled but my 28 week consultants one went ahead. I was supposed to be seen by them every 3 weeks from now until I’m due but they have cancelled those and said they will see me in 6 weeks instead. Bit concerned as it’s my first and I’m consultant led so 6 weeks seems like a long time to go without checking bp etc especially as I’m at risk of preeclampsia

Caitlin2020 · 04/04/2020 12:17

I need growth scans from 30 weeks due to previous pre term been told I can’t have partner there either such a worrying time during all this and when baby comes daddy only allowed to stay for 90mins😩 if it’s not over by then x

Yes my scans are still in the diary but my other appts have been cancelled and will be over the phone - including with the blood pressure clinic. How does THAT work?
I am at high risk of both gestational diabetes and pre eclampsia as I had both in my first pregnancy. I am very anxious about getting the right care this time round.
My 12 week scan is on Wednesday.

Caitlin2020 · 04/04/2020 13:38

It’s crazy for the woman who need extra monitoring I know they need to also be safe but we need to the reassurance as well that the baby’s are doing well x

I have to be giving my blood thinning injections in 4 weeks they can’t do that over the phone 🙄

Mine are all over phone including consultant until 28 weeks. I've got my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks but thats alone.

I'm hoping things have calmed when I give birth but who knows!

It feels like a really lovely time to be pregnant x

itsybitsya · 04/04/2020 13:50

I am 36 weeks and am having regular growth scans,
I had a text message to say my 36 week appt on Wednesday next week would be over the phone.
I called them and they said someone would call me back, called them again the next day to clarify and they said that the guidance had changed that morning (yesterday) and that I would be seen in clinic.
It sounds like those towards the end are being seen but "new" pregnancies are being done over the phone

Ghamseh · 06/04/2020 11:01

My high risk 16 week consultant appointment was due to be tomorrow and they have called saying it will now take place over the phone. Feeling very down about it in these uncertain times. Not sure how a telephone appointment can cover things that urine/ blood tests would have 🤔

itsybitsya · 06/04/2020 11:48

I received a phone call to say that I would be seen as the guidelines have changed and those at the end of their pregnancy will need to be seen but it will be in a different clinic

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 06/04/2020 11:53

I had an appointment mid April, I'll be 26 weeks. It'll now be over the phone.
I'm supposed to have bloods every 4 weeks because I'm consultant led (thyroid) but mo idea who or how I'm getting the bloods forms Envy

PinkJam · 06/04/2020 12:02

It’s a worry that they miss things by only doing phone appointments. What about blood pressure checks, blood tests, urine tests etc

anotherypasswordtoremember · 06/04/2020 12:11

Hi, I'm a risky one too and I have settled on midwife over the phone and taking my wee and getting my blood pressure done at the consultant appointments.

I'm happy with this because it reduces the risk of me being exposed (halves the trips out the places with other people) but I still get the checks.

At my antenatal center they have wee sample pots on the counter so last time I was in there I picked up a pot to take home with me so I can easily take a sample in next time without having to touch all the public bathroom things!

I've a preeclampsia risk too so I've got myself a home blood pressure kit so I can monitor myself.

If you're worried about specifics, like getting BP and wee checked I think it's totally ok to call the antenatal clinic and query what they've said. Obviously don't be rude but explain why you're worried and ask what the plan is.

Nicecupofcoco · 06/04/2020 12:13

I've got another consultant appointment this week at hospital and seeing midwife too, then midwife appointments as normal every two weeks now as I'm getting nearer my due date. I'm trying to think rationally, I really don't want to go to hospital or even see the midwife at this time but know its safest thing to do for the baby. What a time this is! 😔

Birdy1991 · 06/04/2020 18:27

Ladies that have had midwife appointments changed to over the phone, when did they let you know of the change? I’ve got a midwife appointment booked on 22nd April and haven’t heard anything about details of the change yet but when I spoke to the community midwife department they told me that would be the case.

1990shopefulftm · 06/04/2020 18:35

mine forgot to tell me my booking appointment was over the phone and only found out when I went to GP and they weren't there.
I would certainly call the day before to check it is still going ahead @Birdy1991

MoonBlood · 06/04/2020 18:38

I had my appointment with the consultant over the phone today. My next appointment with the midwife will be over the phone, I’ll be 31 weeks. After that they will be face to face. That’s what I was told at my last appt anyway, things are changing rapidly at the moment though.

itsybitsya · 06/04/2020 18:56

On the rcog website it states that all measurements from 26 weeks should be conducted as standard appointment - the guidelines changed to this on 3rd April - prior to this, they were doing everything over the phone

itsybitsya · 06/04/2020 19:00

This is on rcog ......

Over the phone appointments
TobysMum16 · 06/04/2020 20:01

I’m 16 weeks and just had a phone appointment this morning. I’ve been told that every other appointment will be via phone from now on. It seemed fairly pointless to be honest as she basically just reminded me that if I had an bleeding / leaking / swelling etc then I needed to go to triage.
I am also concerned that blood pressure and urine are not going to be properly monitored at midwife appointments this pregnancy. This really worries me as my previous baby was born pre-term after I came down with a UTI and I also had high blood pressure at the end of that pregnancy too. I am now monitoring my own blood pressure weekly (I bought a cheap blood pressure machine from amazon). I also spoke to my gp regarding my concerns with lack of urine testing and she agreed I could send a sample into the surgery after any telephone appointments. She also said I should send a sample in for testing at any point if I felt any symptoms of UTI. She was a lot more helpful that the midwife so I would definitely recommend also speaking to your gps if you feel you aren’t getting sufficient care from the midwife.

Rosabuddy · 06/04/2020 20:51

I am supposed to have growth scans every 3 weeks but have only had one and will only have one more before due date. I fully support the nhs and understand why they are trying to protect us by not bringing us into hospitals but it still concerns me that something might be missed with my baby
